Yes, and maybe even higher. What I like is the ability to control it. Sometimes I want just a little and sometimes I want a lot. It's easy with a vaporizer.

I think so. I know my lungs feel a lot better and I cough less. My wife was coughing a lot before she switched to vaping.

I've only smoked once since I started dry herb vaping. It's just so much better. We like a fine grind and use an electric grinder to make it. The finer the grind, the longer lasting an oven load will be. The clouds can be bigger, too.

I recommend the Pax Plus vaporizer. It's a bit pricey, but it's a wonderful machine. We also have a Pax 3 and a Mighty+ vaporizers. We call the Mighty+ "the hand grenade" because it reminds us of something we might have seen in an old war movie. It's a good vaporizer, too. It's just cumbersome. It's easy to control the temperature, which is nice.
I have pax plus and like it for the smooth vapor. I also like my Bong - recirculating type. It's super smooth. Best benefit of pax plus is the settings, small size, and vape. You could take it almost anyplace, and vape up.

How much "better" did the Vapos got ?

I've tried it like 13 years ago or so maybe even more with both a Tabletop one, a Volcano in that case and an Handheld both for dry Herbs.
And it always had its own kinda flavour really earthy and a bit spicy aswell iirc flavour didnt change much even with completly different tasting strains.

Tried the volcano with Super Lemon Haze i think it was, which was way better then the regular street stuff i usually got and was kinda the reason i went out and borrowed a volcano but was super dissapointed with it.
Bought the Handheld a year later, maybe 2 and while it was better it still always had this earthy flavour it served its purpose at that time but wasnt something i would use to enjoy a nice spliff.

How are the flavours coming through nowadays and how does it compare to your regular joint ?

I’ve been on the quest for smoke damage mitigation for a while now. (Course we could always quit, but what’s the fun in that).
I’m a little surprised no one has mentioned an ice catcher for the bong. Adding more water filtration is a great way.
This gas station rig has the In line ash catcher and a “Mouth Piece” filter.

For vapes, I own a mighty plus, really really good product, much more of a workhorse than the pax, not as convenient of a size.

PS good looks on the calculus homework. I always smoked when doing differential equations.

I have a Pax and I just bought this. This old guy can't burn bud anymore. It all tastes like shit

I had the same dilemma when I first started out. I tried both a vaporizer and a bong, and here's what I found. Vaporizers are great if you’re looking for a smoother, less harsh experience and want to conserve your material. They’re easy to use and pretty portable.

On the other hand, a good bong can give you a more intense hit and can be a bit more satisfying for some people. I actually swapped out the bowl piece for my bong a while back—found a nice one online that made a big difference in how it smoked. If you’re into bongs, upgrading the bowl piece for bong can make a noticeable difference.

I've been smoking for a while. I use a bong, sometimes joints, and occasionally I make edibles. Lately I've been feeling that the smoke is affecting my lungs. Believe it or not, I actually run and play tennis (not well, but I try :)). I was thinking of a few options...:
1) A vaporizer
2) A better bong
3) Some combination. A new bong and a vaporizer.

I'm completely new to vaporizers. I've never tried one and don't understand them. Will I get just as high? Will it be better for my lungs? They seem incredibly expensive but I guess I'm willing to plunk down $200 if I'm convinced it will last and it will really help.
Another way to go (or in addition to), I'm not opposed to buying a better bong. I've attached a picture of mine. It's about $14.00 so practically anything anyone recommends would be better! Any recommendations from online places? My complaint about this one is I get a massive hit and it doesn't seem well filtered through the water. I know some force the smoke through coils of water. Believe it or not, I just cleaned this bong. It gets filthy fast! I'd be looking for a bong that gives a less harsh hit and is not impossible to clean.

Thanks!
Find yourself a bong with a condenser coil. Top half stays in the freezer till you are ready to smoke. They hit really smooth.

This is an extremely ancient debate which took place long before the Original Poster visited us last year, yet for the sake of newbies who may still come around lets briefly illustrate my own conclusion with this cold/hot dry/moist experiment once more (...):
egzosets-semi-diy-fogbong-challenge-of-2012-6-png.2278351

Slow/steady ovenizers are dry by design and my venerable HerbalAire (#2) was no exception, but it had some valuable edge: its inlet port could connect to a pump (#1), which allowed it to fill balloons (#4). The Solo glass wand (#3) as seen here was an optional 3rd-party accessory mostly intended to enhance visuals, while my home-made water toy (#5 & #6) behaved like an anti-reversal valve, so to prevent premature cooling of the oven... The large mist-maker (nebulizer) based apparatus (#7 & #8) removed all remaining heat and more importantly added moisturized air in controlled on-demand amounts only.

Guess what, my coughing issues got solved by switching from the dry to the moist types of scenario and that's how/when i accepted my need to revisit VaporGenie's concept exactly, because i finally understood that's one of the rare commercially-available offers giving access to self-moisturization in portable format.

These days the « dabbing » alternatives appear to prove less harsh too, possibly because the substrate generates its own moisture while this doesn't necessarily require an elevated energy budget, considering that part of the release process was performed previously. The drawback of it though is that concentrates concentrate everything and i wouldn't bet on the « legal=safe » slogan unless it's really kept "incidental"...

Good day, have fun!! ☮️

Google translation:

« When it comes to deciding between a vaporizer or a bong, it all comes down to personal preference and what you want to achieve. If you like flavor and a smoother inhalation experience, you can opt for a vaporizer. They are typically easier on the throat and lungs as they heat the herb to a temperature that produces vapor without combustion. Furthermore, they tend to be more discreet and portable. On the other hand, if you prefer the classic experience and don't mind a harder hit, a bong might be the better option. Bongs filter the smoke through water, which can cool it down a bit, and many users enjoy the ritual and feel that bongs provide a more immediate and potent effect. Ultimately, it's worth trying both to see which one best suits your style and needs! »

One difficulty about "personal preference" is that we must care to try quite a few things before our somewhat less subjective opinions can be acquired, otherwise it all relies on those of 3rd-parties who probably found themselves in a similar situation... So, years ago i chose not to perpetuate this legacy by actually evaluating all possible forms of "conditioning" i could safely enjoy - even invite to duplicate independently in the process, while hoping the eventual reader(s) wouldn't feel shy to add his/their own peer review:

It's all been fun, but in the end YMMV!

😉

I've been using a ballvape for a while now (screwball vape to be exact). Works very well and allows for big ol bonger rips.

Have you seen the baller kit for the Surfer, much safte with the hater tucked inside the housing.
I have not but will look it up. Mine did come with a shroud tho i did remove it lol. Nearly knocked my globe over and grabbed it from the top/vape. Luckily not long enough to burn me but it wouldn't have taken much longer to do so. I for sure see the value in keeping the hot bits away

My two cents after 8 years with bongs of extreme quality and complexity, no matter how many stages or perks it goes through at the end it's still smoke you're inhaling and eventually that will lead to you coughing up black shit. If you are a regular partaker, get a workhorse table top vape and don't look back. The Volcano isn't cheap but if you treat it right it will last you longer than any bong will. You will stop coughing up black shit after 6 months and then never will again. Other S&B products for on the go I can't speak to, but if you smoke at your desk or in one place primarily nothing will beat a volcano. It's an investment in your health.

I can totally vouch for Arizer vaporizers, I have the old Air version and it still working fine after several years, also it's built like a tank and you even have adapters to fit it on a bong if you want. For your bong I would recommend a ash catcher, those can be bought online and it prevents the crap to go down in the bong, makes cleaning a bit easier 😉

I would suggest Planet of Vapes for any vape stuff you may be looking for. I have the low end vape pen and it does a nice job for short sessions.

Totally agree on checking out Planet of the Vapes! Someone on this thread suggested it to me a while ago. Grabbed the Lobo and love it!

Also, their Black Friday sale starts at Midnight TONIGHT!

Whatever the brand, vaporizers are the go! Why spend all the effort to get great tasting weed and then burn it? Also a lot less residual smell. I completely stopped smoking. My son left his bong here and I had to put it in the garage because it was making the house smell.

Vaporizing has so much more flavor and it's like good wine or beer; different flavors at the start/middle/end, more subtleties that are lost with burning it. Studies also show that some of the THC is destroyed by burning. You might get more of an initial "hit" but IMO it's due to stuff you really don't want to be inhaling.

I have a Volcano my buddy bought me for my 50th (I bought him a kegerator) and a Mighty+. I prefer the Mighty most of the time, it has a little better flavor. It is a bit big for pockets but the battery really lasts and you can run directly from a high capacity charger even if the battery is dead. The "filling aid" is really handy and the capsules are convenient for consistent dosing. Yes, the Volcano is kinda nuts unless you're sharing with a couple friends, there is the possibility of passing around something contagious and the possibility (or likelihood?) of microplastics from the bag. Still, a lot of fun with the wow factor of it you're looking to get everyone baked. Also plan on your weed mysteriously disappearing quickly.

totally agree. i'll never smoke w/out a dry herb vaporizer again. I like to run the Lobo thru a bong.
debating buying a POTV XMAX V3 Pro as soon as the sale starts up.

Xmax v3 pro around 70$ its convex heater meaning it heats the air then sends you warm air to the buds.not like the cheap ones that heat the buds.
Has a million of attachments one of them is a bo ng attachment you can get a pack of jars that you fill and then when you want to smoke just put the jar in the vape. Ises those little blue batteries that laptop uses 188 something foegot the name but you can buy them for cheap and change them easy and fast.and it allsoo charges over usb.

If you never smoked a dry herb vape yoir gonna love it ,ou put half zhe amount you put in a joint you smoke it and think this is nice you get to your 5th exhale and think i dont feel anything still and then kapow your high out of your mind

Hello,

Lets see what really matters besides the kit:
Topgreen XMax V3 Pro Inlet 520x480

Reviews mention a slow 'n steady inhalation, probably too long for my old lungs but that's not the point. The 2 features i immediately noticed are this: #1) it claims to have a cooling path but it's so short i'd expect to find a tiny fresh-air inlet hole somewhere between the bowl and mouthpiece while there's not any sign of it; #2) the side array of holes ain't just intended for fresh air to enter, its real purpose is to avoid overheating surrounding materials... So i'm not going to give it a thumbdown and murk your enthousiasm, but if i had one handy myself the chances are mine would have a #53 hole drilled to connect its expansion chamber, possibly in a location where i can block it with a finger to add manual control so to enrich ritual. One other trick on my mind then would be to add a slice of silicon carbide foam inside the heater in order to create 2 effects: #1) relative thermal isolation while iddle; #2) true convective energy storage in hope to shorten the slow 'n steady inhalation profile with some short-lasting punch.

If this could work at all then i might feel like bragging a lot about its affordable cost indeed.

Good day, have fun!! ☮️

A solid vaporizer made a night‑and‑day difference for my lungs, especially on running days, and I still keep a small water piece for the times I want that heavier hit. I picked up my current setup through SmokeDay.com and liked how quick the shipping was, but honestly any simple, well‑built piece will do. Vaporizers cut the throat burn a lot, and your cardio won’t complain as much.
