Door has been flipped. I wanted to flip the door frame, but after attempting to do so, I quickly gave up. Instead I drilled a few new holes and just rigged it on the opposite side of the frame.

Gave myself 2 feet for the opening. Large enough to walk through while carrying something.

Drilled new holes for the hinges. You can also see a bunch of neoprene strips used to seal up the closet so there are no light leaks.

Door knob is a bit higher with the door flipped. Adding a strike plate here would have been too much work, so I simply drilled a line of holes and it works perfectly.

Going to give the entire closet one more scrub down with diluted bleach. Will then close the door, turn on the exhaust fan, and let it air out for a few hours.

After that I will add the tarp, tape it up above the baseboard. That way I can literally handle a few inches of water flooding the closet. 5'x5' taped 4" up the wall can hold 62 gallons. Total water used will be between 55 and 60 gallons. Everything could leak until empty and it would be all good. Not that I ever expect that to happen.

Then finally I will mylar the walls. Haven't decided if I will go to the ceiling with it or not. The roll is 4' wide, so I will go at least 4' up the wall.

So as you can see above I decided not to go floor to ceiling with the mylar. I started 2 feet above the floor since the buckets are 19.5" tall and at some point I will put them on wheels. Being 4' wide mylar it naturally goes up to the 6 foot mark. I don't even expect the plants to grow that tall. Maybe 3' tall plants being 2' off the floor so at max they will reach 5' or so.

I plan to begin germinating 6 of the Eighth Brother seeds this weekend. Then I will pop them into the 8 plant tote until the roots grow to a decent length. Then they will all be moved to their final home in their own mobile (not so mobile yet) RDWC system, except the worst looking one that will remain in the tote until the sex of all plants has been identified.

As soon as I know how many females remain I will fill any empty spots with a feminized seed. Originally I planned to only keep 2 females and germinate 3 additional feminized seeds, but if I get more I will grow them out. I am actually hoping for 5 females now, it will be easier that way. If I get 2 or 3 females, then I will add 2-3 more feminized plants to get my total up to 5. If I get 4+ females, I will just run with them without adding any more plants. Don't really want to have just 1 plant holding me up from starting the next grow after this one. It will be about 5-6 weeks behind the Eighth Brother plants.

Edit: forgot to mention I also plan to grow these 12/12 from seed. Well close enough to 12/12 from seed. I plan to do 6/2 for the first 4 weeks, then 12/12. I may even experiment with 5/3. With good lights I am thinking that more night time will promote more growth.

Air pump is now hanging outside the closet. It is really loud so I built a sound dampening container for it. Exhaust fan was also moved out of the closet. I only want lights, fans, water pumps, and sensors inside the closet.

Let there be light! Got 3 of the lights hanging now. These lights do not have dimmer switches, so I hooked them up to a fan controller and it works well.

Need to tidy up all those wires once everything else is in place. I will be running 3 ducts to those lights to exhaust their heat. The other 2 lights I still need to hang are held together with rivets and I wasn't able to easily disassemble them so they will remain in one piece with their fans.

Are they purple or maybe i have bad eyes and they are white?

O yea wanted to ask you is the big airpump a huge difference for you? I am still using a tiny aquarium pump for both my containers

Yeah, they are partial blurple lights. Full spectrum, but includes blues and reds along with the whites, UV, and IR. Bought them 5-6 years ago when blurple lights were being phased out, so they were pretty cheap. The new lights are nice white light. My 12/12 from seed grow is using one though and the other is still in the box, hehe. Plan to use it for the next set of seedlings before they all get their own light.

And pump? You saw my plants with the mini pump?
32w 950gph air pump.

I saw you mentioned using a 15w air pump in another thread. How many gph is it? How many gallons of water does it aerate?

Just wondering if our air flow to gallons of water ratio is similar, or will be once my closet is fully populated. I'll be using about 60 gallons of water total.

My 12/12 from seed plant has about 52gph for 4 gallons which is 13:1, slightly less than what my closet will be at 15.8:1.

Zacro Aquarium Air Pump, Oxygen Pump 5L/min x 2 Flow with Air Hose, Bubble Stone, Plastic Cover Covers the Movement, Aquarium Adjustable Air Pump for 15-130 Gallon Aquariums

And i have 2x70L pots
How does that compare?
Pump is silent i had 3 similar all where loud as f

6watt
I just use half meter long airstones

Using both outlets you would get 158.5gph for 37 gallons of water, so 4.3:1 ratio. About 1/3 of what I am pumping in to my current 12/12 plant. The 12/12 uses a Tetra Whisper 100, which is very quiet compared to the other pump. I could get away with using 5 of these in the closet and my ratio would drop to 4.3:1 as well since the closet RDWC units will have 3 times the water as the 12/12.

I think the long air stones help when you pump less air. More surface area to create bubbles. Ideally the entire bottom of your reservoir would be creating bubbles.

Organized the cords and tested highest and lowest positions of the lights to make sure I had enough slack on the wires.

All organized!

PXL 20251108 185216494

Lowest position. Ignore all the junk. πŸ˜†

PXL 20251108 190041002

Highest position. The lights sit right at 6 feet high, perfect for how high I went up with the mylar. Still need to buy another roll of mylar.

Slowly, but surely, I am getting this closet in working order. Next I will add the exhaust ducts to the blurple lights. Then I will run the air tubing.

All the buckets have their holes drilled, but I still need to assemble them. I already wrapped a massive amount of plumbing tape around every bulkhead. Just figured I would get some of those tedious tasks done. I would have assembled them already, but I don't have the space to store them since they are not stackable when assembled.

Not going to have wheels for this grow, but it still should be much easier overall. Easy access to the water for each plant and each plant will have their own nutrient solution for their personal needs. Harvesting a plant early will also mean I don't have mutilated roots in the reservoir slowly rotting while the other plants finish.

Exhaust ducts have been added.

I have the 3 lights at different heights just for demonstration. They are all capable of going to their lowest and highest heights.

PXL 20251108 215828944

3 way splitter so that the single exhaust fan can handle those. I still plan to add a separate exhaust duct that will pull out air from the ceiling. This may wait until my next grow though. Don't really feel like cutting two 4" holes above the door again. The main benefit of a 2nd exhaust is so I can maybe keep the door closed when lights are on. I open the door when lights are on so the temps stay lower.

6x Blackberry Kush from Eighth Brother are now germinating. 😁

I bred a male of one of those with a couple others I had from the same farm. Haven't completed a run on them, still harvesting the seeds but they're nice and very viable. That male had nice fans and branched like a Christmas tree. I could be wrong but I think everything they're working with has some degree of Durban genetics upline. It's practically on its way to becoming a landrace up there after the past 40 some odd years. They're great outdoors, let us know how they do inside.
