What are those side lights? And do you think they make a difference?
they're inexpensive red/blue walmart grow lights. given the lights i have are not high output stuff i figure they can't hurt. the way i figure it the more light the better until a full saturation level is reached which i am unlikely close to reaching. i only cut out the red lights to get a better lighting for pics. other than that i run both the red and blue lights throughout the entire grow.

Your plants seem to like it and you get great results! Do you train your plants at all, or do the lights allow you to grow them 'naturally'?

got my fingers crossed at this point. the healthiest grow i had was grow #1 which had the same main overhead light and one of an equivalent 2 ft light on each side. since then each following grow has had notable issues. i don't train them, i like the natural tree profile the plants develop. this grow does appear to be progressing better that the previous 3 grows.

this was grow #1

Looking nice! The paleness must be the light, the ph or nutes. How close is the light and how many watts was it again? In any case I think its gonna be good and number 1 looks like its gonna be a fat cola 😍

eh, i do prefer the dense rich green of the 1st grow. plant wise they are yellowing a good bit in the older leaves which doesn't make me happy. it seems far too early for this behavior to me and definitely bears no similarity to the first grow. i would be of the opinion that they might need more nutes but the leaf tips show a small bit of burn so i am loath to add more nutes. i have been slightly altering the ph down. the light is maybe 100 watt above, the side and top light bars are maybe 15 - 20 watt but are all inexpensive lights so i feel the claimed wattage is likely not as beneficial as if they were higher end lights. the side lights are maybe 1 - 2 inches from the plants. the main top square panel is maybe 2 - 4 inches from the plants and the extra front top light bar is about maybe 4 - 6 inches from the front plant.

given the yellowing of the older leaves i can't see how it could be the lights. my best guess would be nute imbalance, ph, negative pathogens or the watering, i have been focusing on trying to gauge when and how much water should be applied. still getting some purple in the leaf stems notably but also the main stems and branches but it's far less so far than previous grows that displayed this effect. could be slightly over or under watering. they definitely are not uptaking the water quickly at all.

#1 is looking a lot like many of the #3's from previous so i'm thinking it will as well deliver a very nice cola.

i have to admit when things aren't perfect i tend to lean toward a more negative assessment but when i do look over the last grows there are glimpses and time spans where the plants actually look sweet but they do transition back and forth too much for my liking.

not bad at all, much nicer than the #3, grow 3. strong enough taste to easily notice it but not overpowering. some similarities to #3, grow 4 but smoother likely from the longer set time as it's now several months old. somewhat maybe skunky/musky taste that lingers. very nice buzz but is highly creep. smoked a little less that half a pin joint. i don't want to wipe out the grow 4 bud so i am smoking less of it. i want to have enough of each grow/plant bud to be able to occasionally sample and see how they are changing or not and to compare between each other.

curious, second smoke off the same joint and definite fruit aspects to the inhale. given that the smoke the seed came from had little as to taste i don't have anything to compare it to as the original bud. what is curious is it does seem to be similar to some degree with the bud from the seeds i produced i have to wonder, is the similarity due to what the original strain should have tasted like or is it possible that the composition of the soil may have imparted similar taste traits in all of the plants. there are some of the plants from seeds i produced that do have a noticeably different taste. ???????

This is actually a learning experience. Once you find the grow style that works for you you'll be set. I grew in the ground for years, then I watched people growing in coco coir. Tried it and haven't looked back. Don't be afraid of trying new things. @Mikedin grows in living soil and kills it. Or maybe hydro will do it for you. Who knows but keep at it. Nothing like producing your own medicine.

If this were easy everyone would be doing it😉

I was doing hydro and soil....gave up the hydro...was just starting and learning to grow.... I am I feel got control of the soil grow.... need to readdress the hydro....one day...🤣😂....my first hydro experience i couldn't believe how big the plant got....and in time I didn't realize how dead a plant could look....🤣😂....I hadn't checked the water since planting it....didnt change the water....didnt add any more fertilizer.....yep was way over my head...

But you learned and kept with it and look what you're producing today. Total WIN/WIN. I doubt any of us succeeded on our first attempts, even us green thumb gardeners😉
