Hey my 3 plants all started to have weird growth at preflower site around veg week 5.

They are are 3 different feminized strains from same breeder, topped once and then heavily pruned new shoots as soon as they appeared for a couple weeks so im thinking the plant just wants to push out new growth but maybe someone knows more.

In the Picutre with the blue tint (sorry for the quality) it looks like a female preflower at the base of that little leaf and it has a stigma coming out of it. On the other one it looks either like a male part or more leaf growth to me.

They all got Female preflowers on the higher up nodes and are in 12/12 since a couple days.

First off what I am seeing in the pictures is very small plants. Are you sure you are in week 5 of veg? It looks by your pics that these are babies. Could you provide pictures of the plants themselves? Also it looks as though in one of the pictures you may have a male. If this is the case I would remove him immediately, so you don’t end up with a bunch of seeds. Hopefully this was helpful. Please keep us updated. Happy trails…

I'm a little confused. From the images it looks like you've been plucking your normal node growth (why?) But that last image looks like a ball so maybe you just got your first look at a male cannabis plant beginning to show it's balls? 🤷

Oh, I see you are plucking the growth to create more bud sites. Nice, but still would like to see pics of plants.

I just remove side shoots so they can grow bigger and stronger without getting more bushy. And they are for sure female so far if anything they hermed but they wherent ultra stressed. I try to get some better picutres tomorrow. This was a week ago they started stretching now.

There you go i think those Pictures are better quality. Mixed preflowers closeup and full plant.

So is that a male preflower on that leaf? Will they come back or will it be female from now on? On newest growth there are only female preflowers.
And how did 3 completely different strains all herm one is a n original bubblegum x zours and the other is some london pound cake x girlscout cookies. I had plants that where stressed to the max and they flowered just fine.

All i ever did to those was Topping defoliation and pruning the shoots. I let them dry out once but the plant didnt show major signs just hanging leaves for half a day. One day in Veg i gave them like 1200 ppfd for an hour or so but with great light distance i wanted to give them a really sunny day once...
I have to say my light is like a lazer i got it on 1 meter distance now and pumping 900 ppfd across the whole surface area on 75% but those plants never showed any major light stress signs.

Update: they got root aphids i thought its funugs gnats but i found one without wings. I quess i start over with a new dwc grow this is driving me nuts i already ditched 2 grows and flowerng with pest and root damage is something i dont really need.

I wouldn't throw in the towel yet. I've never had root aphids or any soil pests other than fungus gnats inside but I'm sure they can be dealt with.

I switched to dwc after some great soil grows, but decided that fungus gnats were not great to have as they infiltrated other parts of the home and other plants.

If i wouldnt have switched to flower yet id give it a try but i rather dont deal with it they fly into the buds and onto the sugar leaves and start little colonies.

I tried dwc on my last grow it turned out really good, huge plant except i think i burned her mid flower when i let the water drop to much with a lot of fertilizer. All the top cola pistils died and bud development stopped.
Mainlined to 24 tops and i ran out of tent space in terms of height.

What if you didn't tweeze the tiny growths off? And just trimmed once it bushed out a little?

Doesnt everyone who does something like mainlining or plant training take them off immediatly where they dont want them?

I got more plants one week older with the same treatment/topped twice and a little bigger. They dont show any of it and 2 of them even showed major stress signs like twisted leaves for 2 weeks straight i think from overwatering/aphid damage to roots.

At least i know now why i run into overwatering problems with the root pest if i leave the plants longer i give an update on the freflowers. Best part is i microwaved the whole soil they mustve came from that one store bough plant lase grow and spread through the air.

Personally? Like when I top I want a solid inch of stem to choose a cut place. I've never "judged" when for side branches or anything, it's jsut by need of the plant. I won't know if the leaf area is useful or in a good place until I see it at least partway grown. Even then I try to train it to a spot where it gets light instead. Sucker buds down low will rob weight but leaves won't.

I will for sure let them grow out more in future before i remove things idea was to remove suckers early and only cause a tiny wound. DWC is a different approach for me anyway less and bigger plants its enough to deal with 1 or 2 buckets.

Gotcha. I think the small wound on clean stem is just better. Then again I'm exploring like everyone else.
