You pull em out during flower?

I owe you a straight reply, I have before when I went super stupid with the nutes and had to get them out of nuclear dirt. 🤣 Other than that, I want a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the top of the soil, let them roots and good fungi and microbes be to do their magic and make good smokey smoke for me. 👍🤣

I guess for clarification I made that discovery during "plantopsy." Always like to go through every root ball, partly because I reuse my dirt but Im also looking at root structure and growth and the finer the hairs I find the more I'm smiling. 😊 Also looking at the loam to see how it's holding up, how it smells do I wanna keep or toss.

I transplanted my 'extra' photos on August 15 and found no new roots in the new pot when I dumped it out.
I went from a 5 gallon to a 10 gallon but I only put 1/3 soil in the big one, so I set the rootball on top of the soil in the bag. When I dumped it out the 10 gallon had no visible roots. I believe once the plant starts into flower, it just doesn't grow more roots.

They'll send hairs out in search of nutrients. You're describing the exact problem that happens when you don't free up the root ball when transplanting. It also creates salt problems when those condensed root balls start hoarding nutrients. The higher salt concentration starts drying the root ball quicker, it gets hydrophobic and then every once in a while enough moisture creeps into the ball to free up the salts and you watch an EC climb suddenly happening when everything was going cool beans.

How to 'free up' root ball? Without damaging and setting everything back a few weeks.

G'afternoon farm, hope all are spliffy!

Just gently tear up the outside of the rootball with your fingers, then dust with Great White. It won't stunt them, or set them back, it will just stimulate new root growth when transplanting. Roots don't stop growing during flowering, if they did, my system wouldn't work; nor would 12/12 from seed.
In round containers: Roots grow outward in a curving, radial pattern.
When roots hit the curved walls, they often spiral around the inside of the pot — a phenomenon called root circling.
Root circling can lead to root binding, where roots wrap around themselves instead of growing outward and downward.
Over time, this can limit water/nutrient uptake and reduce overall plant vigor unless the plant is re-potted or roots are pruned.
Also, square pots and cloth pots don't promote root circling like round pot do. 👊👊

ps This is exactly what happened my last grow, with coco in small pots. Plants got root bound and eventually root-rot and the plants started dying, so I chopped very meager buds 7-14 days early.😖

Actual conversation that once took place after one crazy night I watched a band set their tour van on fire outside the venue.

Me: Gummy?

Lead Guitarist: Don't mind if I do... so you just buy them around here?

Me: Yup, around here you can just walk right into the pot store.

Lead Guitarist: Where's the coke store?

Boom on those two root bound ones. I reduced the water on these for humidity reasons. I also grabbed a comment from growin since 89 about cranking temps up before lights out. I have tried this in the summer and and it didn’t work. Tried it in the winter and he’s spot on. I finally got winter the last few days so I have some hvac assistance.

Looking much better today.
Couple of fan leaf casualties, but nothing major
Forgot to take the plastic off the 4x4x4 block in the 1st pic, I'll fix it b4 next pic dump
180° fan spray micro emitters coming on the morrow

👊😎

I've planted 1 gallon fiber pots directly into 3-5 gal plastic and clay pots and they grow roots through the fabric. Small thin roots but roots. I can even reuse the fiber pots.

I also once planted a Kratky plant in a shot glass 2 oz solo cup directly into a 1 gal fiber pot. Grew fine and the roots had little difficulty breaking up the cup.

Hell yeah! Roots destroy boulders, when there are cracks they can get into...
