Back in my day when I first got into all of this... people went to jail for life for 6 stems. Fast forward to today and the world has changed. We are no longer buying mexican brick weed and retaining seeds to see what you could get out of them. Marc Emery was the only seed supplier readily accessible to the universe back then and what a dick he became. But his seeds were pretty good :)

I networked a lot between Useful, B.O.G., and Hazeman. Then B.O.G. and Useful hit the Rainbow Bridge and that generation slowly has started its crawl to the memories side of life. About the same time I ended up with a double bypass and focused sharply on what remains of life for me. Kind of looked at my seedbank and said well fellas... this one's for you. And down went all of my legacy seeds.

I won't bore you with the list. But in a hat tip to days gone by, I had scored some weed from a friend last year and she prefaced it by saying... "There will be seeds in this stuff." And in the back of my head I'm thinking yeah... cartel bred. Let's see what it is. And holy shit. I've called it KB... Kate's Bush. And I have no clue what it is other than a frosty sativa hybrid of some kind. It does well in the dirt. It does well in water. It does well grown like a tree, candelabra, small, huge, doesn't matter. The stuff adapts. IMO the best way is candelabra because of the huge buds and yield. What was the most awesome part of the entire thing is that the plant MUST have been a hermie because all of the plants are fem from seed. Not one male. But I did get two hermies :)

The things I'm most excited about in this round are Purple by Jack which is a mosh up of (HSC Pineapple Muffin x Old School Purple Kush) x HSC Purple Mountain Majesty. Sour Bubble and Sweet and Sour Cindy by B.O.G. Chem Cookie Trip by Useful. And Hazeman's Astro Kush.

I'll post pics as we go. Not going to bore you with seedling pics. We all know what sprouts look like. The strains above are all important to me. Some because they came from from hands that no longer tend the garden. Others because this will probably be the last time I see them.

It's wild what happens to legacy growers and how quickly they are forgotten. I've looked everywhere for B.O.G. and Useful stock and can't find anything out there. I know Jim had kids and I thought when he passed they were going to continue his Cannabis Cup winning lines. If anyone knows where I can find either breeder's confirmed stock, let this old fart know about it. Useful's Chocolate Diesel and ECSD was some of the most gassy I've ever had. His Double Dipped Strawberries was fire too. But the stock I had on hand was bred in 2019 and non-viable unfortunately.

Anyway thanks for reading my ramble. I'll post some pics soon.

If you have any of those seeds left, have yo used the peroxide method to try and get them to pop? Although I have never researched how old seeds have been and were still vaible, I have heard of 40 year old seeds growing.

Good Luck.

I have and appreciate your input. Some of these seeds got hit with some pretty excessive heat. Honestly surprised some of them popped to be honest. I do have more Sour Bubble and Sweet and Sour Cindy by BOG. And I have more Chemdog #4 that I originally sourced from Useful. I'm really hoping for some males out of all of them. Would be nice to put away some pollen.

Just an update... This is a strain called Zerbert Punch. I kept getting these seeds from DC Seed Exchange as a freebie for buying other stuff. I like it because it's a hearty plant, easy to grow and puts off pinecone sized bud. I know a lot of people do things the way they do them. And really, imo, there are no right or wrong methods if the output is pure. Some strains react well to what I've done here. Others do not. Just depends on the plant.

So the plant is large approximately 42 inches tall and about the same diameter. And I'm old so if this rambles, I've earned the right lol :))) Here's the method I follow with this strain:

I keep the plant in veg until I have internoding at the top and at least 6 equal nodes under the staggered nodes. Then the main growth shoot from the middle is removed along with all of the internodes down to the equal nodes where you have a branch on each side and they line up :) From top down, count 6 nodes/12 branches. Everything under node 6? Cut it off. Clone time.

I have this burlap twine that is cheap, ugly, and heavy. So all 12 branches are loosened up and tied almost flat and held that way for a week. Causes them to thicken so they can hold the weight of the bud they are about to produce. It takes another week or so before the branches start to get thick and then the lights get flipped to 12/12.

I peg my ph at 7. Feed old fashioned General Hydro's 3 part with a cal/mag supplement in the later stage of flowering to finish. And I'm either in water or dirt. If dirt, it's an 80/20 top soil/peralite mix. It's cheap and totally sucks from a nutrient perspective. I tend to view dirt like coco fiber as inert and feed the nutes I want to use. That weak ass stuff is completely depleted half way through veg. Rarely do I see any tip burn. If I'm in water then it's DWC with a lot of bubbles, same nutes. This one is in a 5 gal bag and is doing just fine. It just started the fade after 7 weeks in flower.

Well... my big (relative to space lol... let me tell you about the 100 gallon grow bag outdoor project nightmare really quick. That sucker got so big that I had to tie the limbs to paracord in oak trees to the left and right of the plant. 12 footer. Nuts. Will NEVER do that again.) plant up there gave me a shock/surprise this morning. It started to lean to the right. Not hard. Just was. So I had to tie it back in place... with paracord lol! It's JUST started to fade. So we've got two weeks or more to go on this one.

My favorite time is the final swell and fade. Everything up till now is "oh I hope it does this" and "holy shit if this happens... then... " Heh. We're at the end. But that just means that something new is next :)

Got any pics of the outdoor? And welcome!

So I was cleaning out an old drawer of this unit that's going into the garbage. And lookie wtf I just came up with. Are you fucking SERIOUS?! I had 3 Sweet and Sour Cindy seeds left. 1 popped and is unsexed in veg. I was thinking about crossing it back to Sour Bubble. And then... this. Heh. Well time to crank out the hydrogen peroxide and see if we can get some ancient seeds to pop. These are from Jim before he passed away. Can't believe I still had some... in a drawer. That's some serious old man shit right there.

Harvested the big candellabra. It's been hanging for a week. Will weigh it this weekend and see what its dried weight looks like. That thing was a pleasure to grow. Funny thing is that as I scroll through various threads I see so much bullshit not necessary technical stuff that it's more like comedy hour. Seriously. I come from a time where walked into an electrical supply store and bought street light ballasts capable of powering MH and these big orange hot sodium lights. Try cooling that shit off in the heat of the summer... Somehow we managed good output, frosty nugs by following a few easy rules. Veg = 18 - 24 hours of light. Flower = 12/12. Feed GH nutes into soil. Mix according to the bottle instructions for veg. For flower increase micro by 1tsp after you get good bud formation. When the soil is dry, water it. When it is wet, then leave it alone. The end. It's worked for 40 years or since General Hydroponics started pushing their 3 part. Before that, it as all dirt and supplements. Today is simple in comparison. Amazon delivers everything you need in a day. No more driving in circles to go to and from the hydro store. Nutes are as simple or complex as you want them. LEDs are cheap and barely push heat. There are these new fangled things called grow tents where we used mylar and closets. Times have changed. Then of course... we have... legalization. Wild. Never thought I'd see the day.
