I could have gone the rest of my life without ever hearing that again. Damn you!🤣 Please don't link that stupid balloon song now.
No Luftballons eh?
How about this blast from the past?
This one will make her wanna swap spit and
take long walks in the moonlight...

Yes @JIMKSI64 Plenty of white powder, some is sticking a bit I think @Grownsince95 mean it doesn't matter when wet.
But at least we know it has the powdery stuff.

Thanks again 👍
It's all calcium carbonate when the water goes away. If the surface is super smooth and the crystals form in the water it will not stick and be powdery because the crystals had no place to latch on to. It's called nucleation.

All the calcium in your water exists as ions and are indistinguishable from one another. Some are free and some are in a complex state bonded to other organic compounds like humic and fulvic acids. The complex ones are better for plants and don't form scale as easily.

If you notice your shower head, tea kettle etc getting that white crust, those are mostly free Ca ions. If the Ca comes from limestone it reacts with carbonates, if it comes from gypsum it reacts with sulfates, sometimes both. Both make scale. The gypsum scale is even harder to get rid of.

If you have hard water readings from your TDS meter but get very little or no scale, there are likely more complex Ca ions. This happens in reservoirs with large amounts of decaying organic matter.

They played Living on a Prayer, so I put my hands together.

Then they played Wrapped Around Your Finger, and I raised my finger up high.

Then they played Werewolves of London, so I began to howl.

Then they played Come on Eileen and now I'm never allowed back into that club or they'll press charges.
