Day 0 - Feb 21st

Indica Landrace from Balkh region Afghanistan

Media soil with fertilizer from store ment for organic ph 5.9 - 6.7

Fertilizer: kelp, guano, ash, some organic NPK fertilizer mixed

Light led 2 x 205 watt samsung 301h IR + red running at 300 watt total covering 1 m2

Indica landrace soil maybe more

Just planted after rooting first.

The matchstick? Now nothing, but 25 years ago one matchstick in 15 cm pot could get all gnats away in one week and for a long time. More than a month.
I just changed the matchstick when it went pale almost white. It worked so good i almost felt sorry for the small fellas.
Doesn't seem to work anymore sadly but they still don't like sulphur people say. I suspect it's some additive regulation that has changed so maybe it works in other countries?
I stil use it now and then hoping for placebo + neem oil 4%

Ha ha i remember, just started growing, proudly introducing the matchstick trick i used for more than 10 years, in a cannabis forum just to find out it didn't really work anymore.
Lost all street credit from start but we had fun.

Day 1

First plant up. No helmet btw
DSCI0585

2 others in pots and could break dirt tomorrow i guess.

The plan for this grow is not ready.

First the plan was to grow only landrace this grow. 2 different indica and 2 different sativa, but seeds got delayed, and i cant wait much more for the 2nd indica to arrive.

So for now it 1 indica and 1 sativa. The sativa i will be germinating when i start 12/12 to try control the growth in a month+ probably.

I tried the same type of sativa before and the stretch can get pretty crazy. The nigerian landrace. They went almost a year because of reasons.

I got two backup seeds hybrid fem . Some freebies i got I won't reveal and i will let you guess the model if i decide to pop them

In the meantime i hope these 3 show sex under 16/8 light. I think they did last time iirc.
Maybe i keep one male for seeds.
So it's gonna be a slow burner

Day 3

My bug combating devices

DSCI0595

The one plant to the left is supposed to have vases on but it fell to the ground and are settling slowly again.
The most red flower on the plant to the right is around 1 year old, the two others ca 1 mth. Strange flower with an upside down parachute under collecting the pollen maybe?

Plants not effective but well feed.

So far the vacuum cleaner and the neem oil works best.

The three indica sneaked into the photo.

Day 4

Getting stretchy

DSCI0599

I used a new soil i bought from store.
Ready fertilized with a ph at 6.2 - 6.8 , 100% organic
It should be a little better than the other soil i've used 5.9 - 6.7
I think consensus is 6.5 so i'll try that see if it makes any change.
The new soil seems more course and i hope for better drainage at least. Saves me from mixing soil.

That means i gotta hold a little back on fertilizer in veg i think.
I'll think i'll use no fertilizer in veg unless the pot is small. And i'm going to keep these small until i'm almost ready for 12/12
Or maybe 11/13 because the sativa that is coming later and two unknown so far. Depending on when or if i get the delayed seeds i ordered.

Two of them is in the new soil. One in old.

We are maybe gonna see some different indica plants from same mother.
Last two i vegged, one of them needed more than double the amount of nutes in veg.

Don't trust my temp meter. Doesn't feel like 27c at all.
I'm gonna check temp with an old type thermometer even though i got 5 meters saying almost the same.

Day 5

Take a look
DSCI0600

You see how the dirt looks different. It looks more course.
I Look forward to see if's better. I hope so because the other is like coffee grind and also feels like it hardens. It gets to compact.

I'm also working a bit on the light needed for seedlings. Last two grow, no stretch, now a little to much stretch.

First one got water today to runoff. Lucky i lifted the pot. Very light

Day 6

Stretch seems stabilized after moving them a bit closer to the light.

Going from plan A to plan B. Now plan C.

Turned out i must have been hallucinating or something. I only have one fem photo period seed.

So the plan now is 1 Indica, 1 skunk no1, 1 nigerian landrace and 1 durban poison.
Skunk no1 seed started yesterday. The sativas starts probably in 1 month when i switch to 12/12

Seed seller claims it's the original skunk no1 genes

Plan can still change because i don't have the durban poison yet. 13 days to late now.

Seed seller contacted me.
They want to refund me my money.
I rejected. I'm just not gonna use them anymore. They annoy me.

When they answer my mail it's clear that they don't even read my mail.
They excused the delay with the postal using different partners depending of time of year????
What a lame excuse for promising 7 days delivery and not keep the promis.

It wasn't even complicated. I just asked them not to promis 5 -7 days delivery if you pay extra.

And already told them i don't want anything from them other than them stop lying. After 3 mails they still don't or won't understand and think if they pay me some money, i'll ignore that they lie. As if that would my seeds appear???

Sad because i like some of their seeds but i can't support satanic culture like lying and deceiving, and them trying to corrupt me too.
Nah if won't stop lying, i'm out.
I didn't tell them the "i'm out" part but i guess they sensed it and tried to buy me off a second time.

Day 7

Skunk No1 seed cracked yesterday and planted today
DSCI0613

Maybe i found the right light amount. Seems like stretch is better now.
They get 20.000 lux +/- on my meter.

Middle plant has a dry leaf tip but that can be from sprouting. Nothing that worry me.

They will get water till runoff again today for 3rd time.

I'm still happy with the new soil. Much less compact.

Day 8

Skunk No1 reg fem about to come up
DSCI0615

I'll try give it same light as the other 3 to see if the stretch is how i like it.

BTW the temp meters works. I checked it with a normal thermometer so thats good. It just didn't feel that hot at all??

Day 9

DSCI0618

Indicas.
Still stretching a bit. I'll keep light as it is though, because other than that they look fine.
The one in the middle got 1 day headstart from the 2 others.

I'm also keeping eyes on these small pots. Suddenly they are dry.

Day 10

DSCI0622

I gave them some wind from advice to strengten the stalk.

All got water till small runoff.
I'm still a bit nervous about going overboard with the watering, but so far good.
Biggest energy leafs ever, on two of them.
I think about 2 cm.
Bigger than the small new one LoL

So all looks good. All thats missing is they all turn out male.

Okay okay, now I got it.

The thing you were posting about watering makes totally sense now. Double the yield for watering way more often.

I really don't want to bother you but are you serious!? Please learn to weight your pots and water due to that.
Even a blind person could spot that you wayyy over watering your pots :(
Gnats love that, so I guess it's your common issue in every run?
Please do yourself and your gnat population a favor and learn to weight your pots and water due to that. Soaking wet everyday even in "living soil" isn't the way you should go, less yield, more critters and unhealthy plants.

Wish ya best luck for the future.

Thanks @Redneckx

What signs other than gnats should i look for?
5 gnats this morning btw

I do the lifting thing and then i water if needed.
You're right i maybe gone a bit to far with watering with one of my plants.

They also looks more wet sometimes because maybe i just gave them water or sprayed them. Keep that in mind.

Actually i feel like i hardly gave my 4 other plants anything because they got big pots. Bit boring tbh.

I also don't see gnat as a sign of over watering per say.
For example, i use lids that makes the drying more slow and even.
That will of course make the top soil more moist, but that is my intention.
But i agree maybe the gnats love it.

Then again when i grew for some years with under watering i still had same gnats.

But i am trying to adjust and the new plants seem very good so far imo

Thanks for input πŸ‘

Ehh yeah?
For example: curled leaves, slowed growth & stunted growth, yellowing leaves, root rot, mold, Alge and i'm sure there will be a lot more issues which caused by over watering!
Most of them are by far worse than a little dryback but it's up to you to find out and life with it

In real living soil y shouldn't be able to weight your pots because they should be too heavy to be lifted (by volume) to be effective!

What I see isn't that they seem to be too wet, they are too wet. You got already mold & Alge on top...which should never happen on soil imo.
But on real living soil there could be a beneficial mold on top (home of the microbes, mycorrhiza or sth.) still not familiar with it.

If you had a gnat problem even with drybacks then maybe try to get some more aeration into the soil, add like perlite or hydroton.
Y also could use another soil brand, soil & coco are often loaded with gnats, it's just up to the grower to don't let them thrive.
Check out natural predators, just don't spray or feed neem oil..those little fuckers get immun to it, in other words they know what's bad for them and stop eating shit πŸ˜…
Please never, do yourself and everybody else who smokes your weed, don't spray or feed stuff like neem during flower. It's not safe, risk of health issues.

Everyone should like their own plants!
Never will say anything else, if you mean your new seedlings? Big leaves indicates not enought light) in every grow there is room for improvements.
Have a good one 😊✌️

Day 11

DSCI0627

Still looking good.
The stalk seems to get a little more fat and they seems to have stopped stretch so i think i will leave them there for now, and let them grow up to the light.

And thanks for input @Redneckx πŸ‘ I agree on most in theory. I especially like the last part of your post 😍

Good catch with the alge. I think that happened once before. I'm not afraid though, but i'll stay aware.

First time i hear about that neem oil thing 😲 Good info every body should know.

What you call fungus i call mycelium. Kinda the same. The thing i want. So no worries there but thanks for your concern.

Sad you have problems feeling the weight of your pots. Lucky for me i'm used to weight from irl work so i got no problem there. If you keep practice you maybe also learn that. Cant promise though.

Thanks again man ✌️

Indeed they look good.
When the leaves are droopy(pointing downwards) is also a sign of overwatering, so keep an eye on.

They stopped stretch? The only stretch is during the flower cycle(first three weeks) everything else is normal vegetation growth.
It's a good sign when they don't leech to the light so much(enlonged stems, bad.) that would be a sign of not enough light as well.
Steadily growing upwards and to the sides at once is the regular growth y want. Wider instead of longer is better in that case.

Ain't a problem, love to help!

Pretty sure above 90%+ in here know's about health issues with feeding neem oil during flower, especially it should be never sprayed on buds! Maybe look into neem cake(also a good n source)

I weight my pots since years, after i learned how to apply it, never had any big gnat infestation or other issues caused by over watering again.

Day 12

Skunk No1
DSCI0629

I'm calling it.
Skunk No1 being the "maybe more" part, has as the outsider decided to turn this into a beauty contest. Being the only hybrid.
Then it up to me to do the rest.
The three others looks good, starting to take up some nutes i think.

1772782043004

No, this is not my plant (looks like it) but a picture from the sales web site. Not flattering at all but to show whats coming.
Two of these will join from seed, when i flip and they can be a bit stressful to grow for me. Nigerian Landrace

Yeah thanks again @Redneckx You made me pay extra attention πŸ‘ I think i was getting a bit sloppy.

The indicas are getting a little red on the leaf stem. Keeping an eye on that.
These are very color full by nature so i also keep that in mind, but am i right in that red stems also can be a sign of to much water?

Day 13

Ok i don't know why this is happening.
First one plant did this tilt over thing. Then they got some air from the fan to make the stalk strong, and it raised again.
Now yesterday morning next plant was laying down.
I'll just let it grow a bit and see what happens.

And i can already see i'm gonna mix some draining in my soil when up potting. It's still too compact.
