Indica Landrace soil + maybe more

You said it..... Soil could use a little aeration. When plants are still that young..... Water around the outside edge more, stay away from the tiny plant stalk. Too much moisture can weaken it.

You said even better. Good info. You made me check.

Look at this. About 15% compact already.

Day 14

1772962319754

The tilted one is rising slowly.
Middle one a bit pale.
Checked that thing on the leaf. Seems like it not from bug.
The stalk is getting less flimsy.
And I gave them some more dirt.

I havn't got my seeds yet. Should have been here 3 weeks ago.
Still hoping they show up so i can get a durban poison in there.
I also bought some kush but that is to late for them to join if they show up.
I've stopped checking tracking because it totally random. They change the date every day so yeah, the extra i paid for express and tracking was a waste of money.

Day 15

DSCI0639

This one is acting up.
Got more color, then hang, then a bit up again, then hanging a bit more. All in same day.
I'm not gonna make to much of it, just keeping an eye on it.
Too many variables.
Had one last time acting up in the small pots, ending up best.
I poked some holes for in the dirt for air. I might have damaged too many roots? As i said too many variables, also different soil and drainage than the others.
I don't have an easy time with these small pots.
Seems like there's no middelground between heavy and light.

The others looking great so probably males.

Skunk No1 not picking up speed yet.

Poking holes? Just let it dry back a bit between waterings. Lift the pots every now and then. They feel heavy, don't water, they feel light.... water. With aeration, I think the guys meant adding perlite to the soil to help it drain better. A lighter soil mix.

Yes i try to do that. I lift to check.

It's because the soil is getting a bit compact. Top layer kinda hardens.
I used a guide that told poking holes to let in air, was an option. So i just thought that was an idea to try.

When i pot up, then i will mix in some leca stones.
Apparently the coarseness of my soil vary a bit from batch to batch, so i just keep an eye on that from now on.

It is already looking a bit better but the funny thing is it's the only of the 3 that has drainage in the bottom.
I can see one root in the bottom and it looks good.

Last thing, i suspect that the soil is a tad to rich for seedlings even though i flushed beforehand.

Day 16

DSCI0642

Still a bit pale but better.
I topped the 2 others.

And now the best part.
DSCI0641

I got my seeds yesterday.

I decided to start my sativas a little before planed because i couldn't wait.
3 x 80' durban poison and 3 x nigerian sativa.

I'm glad i read a tread where one mention scratching the seeds.
Made me remember stratifying, So i scratched the durban seeds on sand paper. That should help.

That's because most people have reported problems germinating these durban seeds.
Seller says 70% should germ. I wish i knew that before because i only bought 6. Got 1 extra seed to make up for the 30% fail , hmm 🤨
Well i got 3 stickers as freebe so there's that 😐

Anyway now all is settled.
1 afghan from balkh region
1 skunk No1
1 nigerian sativa
1 80' durban poison - 15 week flowering and 4 meter - 13 feet btw 😬

Thats almost plan A except skunk No1 so thats pretty good

Lets grow 🤜

Just planted after rooting first.

The matchstick? Now nothing, but 25 years ago one matchstick in 15 cm pot could get all gnats away in one week and for a long time. More than a month.
I just changed the matchstick when it went pale almost white. It worked so good i almost felt sorry for the small fellas.
Doesn't seem to work anymore sadly but they still don't like sulphur people say. I suspect it's some additive regulation that has changed so maybe it works in other countries?
I stil use it now and then hoping for placebo + neem oil 4%

Ha ha i remember, just started growing, proudly introducing the matchstick trick i used for more than 10 years, in a cannabis forum just to find out it didn't really work anymore.
Lost all street credit from start but we had fun.
Lol, just read this, love it. They probably did change up how matches are made. Cool beans. The ladies seem to love a little sulphur, maybe some of that sprinkled on the top, shit I don't know. But some dry amendments have it in them in some type of form. I'm gonna have to jump in that rabbit hole and see if sulphur is sulphur and the different types of there are any. 🙄

But if you can get any perlite mixed in the soil it would be of benefit. Since I jumped to this new soil that's almost 50% perlite I've had great success.
Ohh Durban Poison .. do you have room for all of these ladies? Where did you get the beans from?

Well .. quick Google and the matchstick head uses either Sulfur OR Antimony Trisulfide. Maybe the sticks you have now are of the latter type? 🤔

50% perlite😲
Wow thats a lot.
Ok then i have a question.
I use leca instead of perlite. I don't really know how perlite is made but leca is expanded clay backed like a brick. Very airy and should be neutral. Almost like glass.
It's like 10 x cheaper than perlite here too.
Plus i can get in the store next door.
Should there be a problem of me using leca instead of perlite?

And the match stick worked the first 16 years i used it and i don't know what happened about that?
And yes the sulphur is leaking into the ground very slowly, but i actually thought it was such small amount it wouldn't affect the plants.

Edit: wroth same time as you

Not really but i got a machete. I got 2.2 meters high closet.

I don't like to mention seller but if you really like to know i think you can just search:

nigerian sativa, 80' durban poison, balkh hash plant.

50% perlite😲

I don't know what leca is. But sounds like it might do the trick if you have it available to you like that. I joke around here a lot, the 50% is said in jest..lol .. the 1/3 is more exact.

Bruh. .. we ask because we like to know where you sourced them from, not because we don't have any. Seller is secretive? Must not sell a lot of beans, I get my from Thelandraceteam <---- they have a huge variety of landrace to choose from. I grabbed some Highland Durban Poison from them, gave most of it away.

Ok i was under the impression you can't mention sellers or share seeds here.

But if that's not the case then i got them from here https://khalifagenetics.com/landrace-collection/

Bought there 2 times now: Both times pretty delayed. This time extra delayed despite i chose express this time .

Seller has refunded all i ought to say but refuse to complain to his postal partners, and we have a small disagreement about that.
I'm more into holding the ones responsible, responsible. Or at least keep the promises realistic. Not him paying for them shitting on the costumers.
I like their seeds so far but don't expect you to drown in freebies.

Day 17

DSCI0650

Middle one got topped today. One node higher to have some leafs.
Seems like the old batch soil is hard to get right. Skunk No1 (the small one) is in the old batch too.

Two durban seeds cracked but no nigerian yet. So maybe the scratching worked. I only scratched the durban.

Day 18

Balkh afghan
DSCI0652

This one got water. I had some big energy leafs (2 cm) now eaten.

Also second topping for 1 of them.

Now the ironic part.
All durban seeds have tap root today but none of the nigerian seeds hav even cracked?
It was supposed to be the durban that were hard to germ.
I think i'll scratch all seeds from now on. Jut in case..
Potting the durbans later today.

Day 19

DSCI0654

3 durban in soil yesterday. Fine taproots 5 -10 mm. Only 2 got drainage in the bottom. The other pot was too small.
The 3 nigerian sativa seeds has not cracked open yet. The seeds looks fine after they got wet so maybe they are just a bit old?
One thing i noticed was the seeds didn't drink the droplet on top of the seed in one day. That could be a sign.
Should have scratched them too.

Other vice i can see it's gonna be a little more cramped in the closet.
3 more is joining and up potting also.
It's gonna be new record with 14 plants at a time.

I still got problems watering two of them.
I soaked the one with damage yesterday i thought. This morning it was dry.
I think it gets better when i up pot.

Day 20

Durban poison
DSCI0657

All 3 durban up with helmet.

Tap root on 2 nigerian.
No wonder i couldn't see them crack. Because they don't.
The tap root comes out without the shell opening 😲 Like from a small hole in the end of the shell.
I'll wait to pot until tomorrow and see if i can get the last seed to pop as well. It could be empty. It was the most pale seed. Also after they got wet.

Then the bad news.
I think i messed up topping.
Good thing it's only the one indica.
I just dont think it can grow anymore leafs because i topped it too early. It looks like it can't.
Ok now i know i have to wait until i can see the side branch before i top.

Day 21

DSCI0660

Every thing fine.
No one is thirsty.

The last nigerian seed has cracked, so 3 more will join when i pot them later.

Ahh yeah. Maybe just maybe my indica i topped early still got a chance. There could be new leafs coming. The big one to the left.
