General questions for a first timer.

So I have had many grows indoors and for the first time I just had luckily got to be able to grow on a family land as I live in a rural area with not much privacy and didn’t want bad intentions where I lay my head if you understand. But I just planted 60 regular seeds (not all are mine planting for my relatives land as payment) I have planted this many to sex out with farmer freeman’s test kit and plan to only keep about 30. But with this being said I am looking for general tips on anything. Do you plant directly to the ground? Fabric pots? Raised bed? What are ipm methods? Any method to deter wildlife? Do you think I should start amending the soil plan to have them outdoors by may 10-20th. Can’t harden them off before they are put out so is it gonna be an issue if I just take them straight outdoors?

Sorry didn’t see I had a typo but I plan to keep 30 if it goes well on the seeds being females. But I’ll take any information it’s a wooded area so don’t doubt snails won’t make their way in the area.

Well you need a small 9V battery for each plant so i don't know if thats too much if you keep 30 plants.

But you basicly have two wires unisolated connected to each pole, around the stem ca 5 mm apart.

They are unfortunately a little more expensive than regular 1.5V batteries.
You could also combine 6 x 1.5V batteries to get 9V but thats not so handy.

You will find that outdoor growing is a lot different than indoor. Outdoor is more about damage control because so many things are out of your control. I would suggest searching this site for the many outdoor grow journals and read as much as you can on the subject to see what has worked for other growers. Maybe start with reading the 2025 outdoor thread that many growers are on and then decide what will work best for your situation. Then post on here with specific questions as they pop up. Lots of excellent growers here to help you out.

Whether you supply the soil or you buy it depends soley on what kind (quality) of native soil you have. I’ve had great soils, and I’ve had lousy soils. If your soil.is not good it’s easier to buy it than try to fix it!

When I say bad soil I’m talking heavy clay soils, red soils, soils with poor drainage, low amounts of organic matter, basically soil that barely grows weeds!
Since you’re bringing in topsoil that will be great.

So if the soil is a majority of that I’m going to be going to check it out next weekend how much would you recommend I dig up and replace it with the top soil?

Number one problem we saw last year for first time planting outside was not getting the timing correct on the lighting schedule and getting an early flower.
And then a reveg as the days get longer.
The daylight schedule is posted on the internet normally by zip code. Putting out a plant that is sexually mature that has been run under 18-6 and it's 12-12 outside will cause problems. Early warm spring makes this happen more. Temp is not the only thing to worry about putting out growing plants.
You will also have to harden the plants against the sunlight as growing under led is way different as the sun has a much higher IR component than LED lights.
The 3rd thing is all these questions are best asked about 3 months before you plant seeds.
30 plants in pots in an outdoor grow in a wooded area sound like a tanker truck of water. Each watering could be a 50 gallon barrell of water if you have big pots. If you have small pots it will be less more often. You may have a stream 50 feet away but my old ass ain't helping so good luck with that.
Also just read an article on this site under the learning section in how to ensure a larger portion of female seeds when launching regs. Good read.

I’d just dig out nice big holes and fill them with the topsoil. If your the soil is good, then till it in.

A few problems with growing in woodland is , if it surrounded by trees it wont get sunlight till its quite high in the sky, and only for 3-4 hrs till it goes behind trees again...and the other thing is , EVERYTHING will want to eat it , moths aphids, mice, slugs , snails, rabbits , deer , pigeons.
the only successful gorilla grows i have done is in wet reed beds or streams, where i could sit a plastic pot in a couple of inches of water , people dont walk around reed beds and the water keeps away rabbits, deer and slugs.
last year i put one in a field near me, tucked into some brambles to keep things away and when i went back in sept to check on it it looked like this.
personally i would keep them in large pots, because you might find you need to move them , to a better spot or if they start getting nibbled by varmints. OR the other thing you could do is build a bund wall around them and have them in and inch or two of water.? I dont know how often you are visiting them or how discreet you need to be
