Welcome back!
Not much happening as we’re still in veg and none of the plants are showing sex yet. I think I’m pretty close to sexing, maybe within a week or two some will start showing.
I plucked off a bunch of rough looking leaves from minor soil/nutrient issues, so some of the plants are looking pretty sparse. I topped everyone today except for the recently planted breeder seeds.
I’ve noticed some of the crosses have really dense compact growth initially and then start to spread out more normally as they get older.
I have seen this occasionally over the years and I think I remember reading somewhere that a certain kind of soil mite can cause this kind of growth. That said, I’m pretty sure that it’s more likely to be a nutrient issue or a characteristic of the plant. I can’t say for sure regarding the latter because I only know the mothers of each plant, I do not know which male fertilized any given seed. I will go back in today and pay attention to which plants seem to display that growth to see if there is a common mother.
Does anyone have any ideas what would cause that kind of concentrated growth that the plant later outgrows?
Here are some individual updates.
The Sour TK started with four seeds, three popped, one stalled out in the cup, one grew fast but has some deformities (possibly soil related) and the third one is a little small but seems happy.
Here are two Chemdog 91. On the left some strange leaf growth and on the right a happy plant.
Finally, here is one of the LVTK x Longbottom Fighter. It topped itself and for some reason grew three branches from that self topping.
That’s all for now, happy growing!
