That's what we do with our strawberries. It's kind of the same principle as air layering cuttings from live new growth on limbs in a few fruit trees.Cool propagation hack for strawberries. Give a runner its own patch of dirt to lay down a root before you cut it from mom. There's a similar hack for cannabis. Haven't done it but you're putting a medium on a branch and getting root bumps to grow before you snip the cutting. Somebody here on the farm shared it once.

If you've never tried this stuff or even just dusted a hole with myco before dropping a plant in it, I suggest you try. I move in the evening and they're out in the full sun next morning without penalty. Not promoting the brand although it is great... Talking about the general fungal assist. Biggest issue I have is forgetting to use the shit.
ive never had a go at growing in coco , easy in soil dont have to worry bout ph and all that , another night closer to chopYou guys should see me trying to get this coco going in a bucket! “Monkey fuckin a football” over here!![]()

i use these , ive found they work perfect for seeds seedlings and cuttings , i know im a mudslinger and set in my ways, they do coco will have to try but ive had 99% success rate why change ?Same!I’ve done soil, and peat based (love that shit). I’m only doing the coco to start the seeds. the peat and perlite just aren’t airy enough, and I water log it (I suck at seedlings) lol. I figured the seeds will go into the the water and crack, then directly into mini solos of the coco. give them a few days to a week and then up pot?
looking good!![]()

I should’ve responded earlier to your question about washing or buffering coco, essentially the answer is YES, to both. Coco can become contaminated with saltwater during the procurement process so it’s washed to get excess salts out of it, and then buffered with cal mag .You guys should see me trying to get this coco going in a bucket! “Monkey fuckin a football” over here!![]()
Looking real good. Mate, I started growing in Coco but quickly got sick of the constant fiddling with EC and pH. Still use Coco as a base for potting mix but it's mixed with peat, compost and rock dust.ive never had a go at growing in coco , easy in soil dont have to worry bout ph and all that , another night closer to chop View attachment 2618596
yep suits me fine , not lazy just got limited time to playMate, I started growing in Coco but quickly got sick of the constant fiddling with EC and pH. Still use Coco as a base for potting mix but it's mixed with peat, compost and rock dust.
Can't go back. I enjoy just throwing water in the tray most days. All I have to do is make sure me water is roughly neutral and it's all good to go. Feed once a week but I don't measure anything. Just pour a gulp out the bottle and move on.
I still treat it like Coco in a sense where I water every day, if not twice but just don't really have to worry about what goes in or out. Which is great for a lazy man.

Buffering coco coir is a critical preparatory step because raw coco coir naturally contains high levels of
sodium and potassium and has a high Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), which can lead to nutrient lock-out. Without buffering, the coir will "steal" calcium and magnesium from your nutrient solution and release sodium/potassium, resulting in severe Cal-Mag deficiencies in plants.
You can probably keep up with regular cal mag waterings without other nutrients mixed in like once a week or something. Idk I messed with coco for a couple years off and on. I never knew about washing and buffering until after a few grows that went sideways with horrible nutrient deficiency and lock out issues mid to late flower. I switched over to organic amendments with a three part mix of ewc, peat, and perlite and or pumice. Been growing either organically or in living soil ever since. I recently purchased a starter pack of greenleaf nutrients and might be trying my hand at coco again. And what people rarely bring up is the buffer wears down over time whether it was prewashed or you did it yourself. I've read it can be rebuffered mid grow with gypsum but I don't play with straight coco.
