Enzymes? I'd be making a sour mash🤣 I don't drink anymore. I tend to return things I never stole and get naked. 😵‍💫

Is it normal for my reservoir with tap water, calmag plus, mega crop 1 part, and bud explosion to cloud up after a day? Also have a circulation pump that goes off every hr. For 15 minutes.
Probably the chemistry of your water and the additives. I raised tropical fish for many years and learned a lot about tap water. You should know what they add, the pH and carbonate hardness. I get a report in the mail every 6 months from my water company, by law you should too😉

Hey @PlumberSoCal2 don't you grow CBD plants too? If so how do you judge ready to harvest? Same as THC grows or what?
Si. I'm looking for opaque trichs. 10+/- weeks after flip like many sativa's and hybrids. But understand I've been growing this plant, same plant as it's been clone only for me, for 5-6 years? I know it well😄 to say the least😉

I've been reading up on the science of cannabis plants and the best time to harvest. Opaque trichs is it. Once they start to go amber the plant is at or slightly past its peak harvest window while the THC degrades (degrade is the key word here) into CBN. Which gives more of a sedative high or "couch lock" many of of want. But science says harvest at all opaque and I'm down😎

I was aiming to take Grape Pie to 4/20 but I'm not sure if it's going to hold up that long. 4/15 is probably more likely... If it's not degrading too badly I'll wait it out just to harvest a 4/20 plant. 🤣
So it's like this now, eh? You're gonna make me plant those seeds, huh. Maybe some GDP too and have a giant orgy? Is that what you want? Okay, fine. I'll pop some😘🤣

Glad somebody else brought it up so I could segue a related line of thought. Opaque is the standard for ripeness. So where does that leave clear and amber? They are your +/- to watch, because there is a point of waiting and it's really benchmarking the gain vs loss. Key question: As I wait even longer, are clear trichomes turning cloudy at a faster rate than cloudy ones are turning amber? And as long as net gain is going on, you're better waiting. Once you're getting net loss you are just losing and not gaining anything at all by waiting any longer. At least as far as THC potency goes.

Good that's what I've understood as well, practically, no change than selecting for ripeness of THC based plants. And BTW this was the research (below), among others, that spelled out what you just said but since I thought you have grown CBD I wanted first hand info to accompany.

Thx.

Si. But, there's absolutely nothing wrong with allowing a plant to go 10-20% amber trichs and an abundance of CBN. Every grower should do their own side by side tests and find what turns their cranks. It's been the private growers who have helped keep the strains😊 and we grow what we like, so should you😘

You reminded me of this old clip... wait for the end 🤣

I don't drink because I was born without an "off" button.

We all have that button. Just in some it's delayed more than others.

The ones flowering right now don't have the Blackberry genetic. They're the last of the cuts from a clone I picked up last year.

Hehe I might have mentioned they picked up that Blackberry pollen while they were vegging (more like a hormone Hell half way between vegging and flowering). A couple node calyxes wound up making seeds. I collected them and marked them as "grape pie virgin." 🤣 Yeah I know what you're thinking.. Ninja, it's not going to do anything to the genetics just because they got seeded in veg. It's really that crazy hormone load mom had that has me curious what they'll do. I've got one going right now. One notable change is Grape Pie is probably one of the more indica-ish indicas, and grows smaller leaves, lower and bushier. The one I'm watching is growing bigger fans than mom ever showed.

And I put them in an orgy of GDP & GMP a bad thing?😄

I'm finally finding a few seeds in some of that Afghany primo from the GDP x BBHP cross. I've found a few beans in the GDP, a parent back-cross. Still hoping for some in the BBHP. Haven't checked. I'll get there, maybe someday. I did find a few of GDP x Mother's Milk cross.

This has been brewing in my head for a bit but for those whose sole goal is to smoke it I say bring on the amber🥰 But those of us who extract have to understand the impact of heat extraction.

I've seen it. I heat extract at 10+% amber I'm going to degrade the THC further. No choice, even at 250F decarb temp but also at 120-150F 3+ hour extract. Bro science at this point but we'll see. Lots of studies coming🥰
