It's my first time growing and I started a dwc tote with two plants however after flipping to flower (two weeks into flower at this point) I started to notice one is developing into a male and the other is female however with them growing in the same tote they share a huge root ball in the dwc tote and not sure how to remove without damaging my female in flower. The pollen sacks are underdeveloped at this point and haven't opened up and was wondering if there is a way to possibly keep the male stem alive so the roots wouldn't rot but remove most of the foliage to prevent pollen sacks from developing

Gently separate by hand.
I believe in you.
It's ok.
It'll be fine.
Don't worry.

I'm not sure, but wouldn't it be possible to bag the male, then cut the stem at the lowest point to the tote lid? Even though the roots are all intertwined and inseparable, they are separate root systems so the shock to the male shouldn't (in theory) have any effect on the female. I could be completely wrong on this, and hopefully better minds than mine will weigh in on this.

Best of luck!

BA.

yah what if it shits stress hormones everywhere through roots... if it does that

and what if it does?

I was kind of thinking the same thing. My only concern is after I cut down the male plant the roots will rot in the reservoir

Under running water you can just gently slide a 20 pack of chop sticks in sequence down the main branches of roots and wiggle the sticks. It's not as bad as detangling roots in soil.

Or waist length hair. LOL
