So I installed a floraflex system with 6 inch rockwool cubes with 1gh 2 microdrippers per plant. Gonna automate my system with growlink. I want to control the cube and dry out, etc. My first round i am gonna test the nutrient from floraflex, but for the next 4 or 5 round I want to try other nutrient. Do you guys have recommendations for me? Wich is proven in hydro and especially with rockwool cubes and microdrippers.

First priority i don't want nutrient that make my system dirt or broke from to much salt... 😊

i have a drippin system and using Masterblend reservoir stays crystal clear.....some additives like silica and calcium acetate gave me some cloudiness and bacterial growth but the drippers always pumping great!
I still check/clean the inline filter every 15 days...

How are the results ?

I run flora flex lines, I’ve been running advanced nutes cultivator series salts threw them so far no issues, easy to mix up in the tank 0 cloudiness, I’m gonna use anthinas cleanse stuff to clean out in-between runs

Stuff works out about 3cents a gallon

I just got my auto pot system up and running on Saturday. Using tap water calmag plus and mega crop nutrients. Also a circulation pump that goes off every hr. By Sunday morning res was cloudy. Hopefully this is normal. Plants are in week 3 of flower. Probably not best idea to start this in the middle of grow but leaving for a week with no one to care for plants.

I grow in rockwool exclusively. This grow is an experiment with the 1/2" rw bits in the square pots: So far, so good. In the past I used General Hydroponics Flora Series with great success. I am now using Greenleaf MegaCrop, 1 Part, plus supplements; it's dry nutrients and much more economical. (Hydroguard also)

My advice is to ditch the micro drippers (which can clog) and just run 1 or 2 open 1/4 tubing to each plant. In rockwool you can run continuous fertigation during lights on for maximum growth.

Any questions, feel free to hit me up...

How are the results ?
Refferred to yields and quality or if the lines and drippers stays clean ?
I would say good to both....in a year and half of continuous growing i never had any dripper fail, and just few months ago i checked they always put out the same amount of juice...
Yields and quality also great depending on strain and my fuckups i average 1.3 to 2.1 grams per watt of top quality nugs...
Hydro on a drippin rocks!!!

Wow i just realized how awesome is your setup.....using slab trays to catch the pot runoff instead of having tables like i do.....i this way thers much more airflow and eventual space to place some extra fans for undercanopy airflow......

Your pictures and plants looks beautiful. Loving it :)

Would you mind sharing a bit more detail about your setup?

  • What exact Masterblend ratio are you running? (g per gallon or EC target)
  • How much calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate do you add?
  • Do you adjust ratios between veg / early flower / late flower?
  • What EC and pH do you typically run in the reservoir?
  • Do you monitor runoff EC or just input?

Also curious:

  • Do you use any PK boost (like MKP) in flower or just base nutrients?
  • How long does your reservoir stay stable (no drift / no slime)?

Trying to keep things clean and stable long-term for drippers without clogging or biofilm.

Appreciate any insight!

Thank you. This was my 1st setup after 22 yrs off (last winter). In the past I grew in regular 4x6x36" slabs. These are Uni-Slabs in a 3x6' ebb and flow table just used as a drain. It was top drip with 17 gal reservoir. Chopped early bc of bud rot (before I got rh under control). Ended up with a 1" thick mat of roots....

Hey what up! of course, thats why im on weed forums....to learn and share experience...

Im running masterblend tomato formula 4-18-38
As far as N, Ca and Mg I use much more than reccomended because my room is hot wet and with 1500ppm CO2.....roughy 0.8 grams x liter of Calcium Nitrate during early veg till 3rd week of flowering....magnesium .07 gram per liter all the way thru...till the last feeding....

I generally start with a pretty high EC, 1.8 just after i tranplant the little clones....after 3rd week of flowering i reduce N and boost the masterblend to settle around 1.6-14 EC...............Ph always 5.9 - 6

Yes with masterblend + calcium nitrate + magnesium sulphate your reservoir will be crystal clear with no ph drift in 24 hours ( i donno if it stays solid after that never measured)

Additives like silica and Calcium Acetate they shit my reservoir at the point i stopped using em...

Of course i have a 120mesh filter in the lines to keep it safe but also the self compensating drippers im using they have a mechanism that it self clean em !?!?!? thats what they advertize....
The general rule...dont put nothing that has any organic compound in it...sugars...kelp...humics...some aminos....(the one im using from Hesi, its pretty clean and keep my res clear)

From 4th week i use a little booster Green Sensation from Plagron....half dosage.....

last week its pure RO water, and the week before is half strenght nutrients to wash away excess N....

Ive never measured runoff EC / PH cause i tend to watch the leaves and the plants and avoid any burnt tips.....

I'm with FlordiaMike on the drippers clogging. I've run coco grows on a timer with 1 and 2 GH drip heads and clogging was an issue, usually by the second or third runs. I could see the white calcium build up in the drip heads😉

Im using Netafim 2liter per hour.....
Drip

Never had a clogging in 6 runs.....i do had plenty of scum in the reservoir because of those additives.....and also plety of saltbuildups on the sticks and on the anti syphoning valve but everyone is pushing the same amount of solution still.......

My question is...if you dont use pressure adjusting drippers how do you guarantee a uniform flow over hundreds of points?

I don't have 100's of points. I'm only allowed 12 plants; with one or two .25" tube to each plant. Each .25" tube has it's own little valve.

I was running 3-4 dozen heads in my large greenhouse (larger pots got 2 or more heads) and about 2+ dozen in my small one. The large one showed issues first, a plant starting to dry out then another and another. I was using solo cups, 1/2, 1, 2 & 3 gallon pots so I used different rating GPH heads. And it wasn't always the lower one on the solo cups. I've found that over time they need to be completely dismantled and cleaned or replaced, including the tubing. The calcium coats it all.

Never tried this brand and now retired doubt if I could afford them😉

I found these
Netafim woodpecker pc emitter 87465

$0.40 and mainly have purchased these
Antelco ceta cleanable pressure compensating dripper 75710

$0.20ish and even less from Walmart's discount items in the fall, like a bag of 12 $2. I bought 1000' of 1/4" tubing at Habitat for Humanity for $5, been set sever since🤣 and purchase 1/2" tubing as needed and I currently have 50' so I'm ready, well as soon as I get the energy to set it up again. I use 2 55 gallon drums for nute water.but, as I said above I've seen the build up of white calcium in the emitters and all tubing.

As a plumber for many years I've delt with many a faucet and valves clogging with calcium from our tap water. Adding even more calcium, as I do using dry Master Blend with magnesium sulfate and CALCIUM, you get clogs, it's inevitable.

Ill keep you all posted if mine will clog......as today after a year and half of perpetual, no issues....maybe this self flushing thing is really working?!?

Wee

Thats hows my res lookin after 2 and half months from proper cleaning....

Hey man, really appreciate you sharing your setup

Quick question about your Masterblend mix:
Do you keep the same ratio (MB / CaNO₃ / MgSO₄) through the whole run and just adjust EC,
or do you change the ratios during flower (like lowering calcium nitrate / nitrogen)?

Would be super helpful if you could share your exact grams per gallon or EC targets per phase
