I've read up on a few hydroponic methods and, having never done it, I'm left with questions and worries about hidden costs, because I'm hecka poor.

I've only ever grown in soil or coco and hand-watered, and I'm getting tired of the cleanup and leaf problems. I'm ready to cut out the variables and automate. I still need an EC meter and an RO water system.

Can you recommend a hydroponic system that approaches the following criteria?: (I will research the the method)

-Portable. Prefer smaller individual buckets versus one big tote. Not a big involved system.
-Easy to maintain: i.e. all the runoff water collects in a container(s)
-Grow area fits in a 4x4 ft. tent
-Buffer zone for mistakes. Since I'm a beginner, my power cuts off randomly, and every piece I buy from Amazon breaks.
-Not very costly. I have a small water pump & air pump and plenty buckets (just not duckets)

Is there a hydroponic system out there that fits the bill?

You can ask me questions about painting.

$4 for a gallon of gas? I don't even pay that much for a gallon of wine.

dwc is cheapest if you dont go kratky(thats just dwc with lower yields).
you need an airstone and thats 5W soo any powerbank should be able to run it.i even have one that gets powered by the light from the lamp/sun

masterblend nutes because hydro needs special nutes and this is the cheapest in the world and has the longest shelfe life.

i dont know if you will have the energy to check many buckets for ec and ph it will get boring fast usually you need to hold for a minute or soo until the values stabilizes many buckets will kill you i would go for rdwc or a single big bucket but then i wouldnt mix many strains bigger chance to get same amount of hunger.

bigger buckets smaller changes you dont have to check often easier to grow.but harder to find the max since values dont change much. smaller buckets you have to feed more often and values will go crazy overnight if you give too much or too little

A different method? Not Krakty, DWC, RDWC, Aeroponics, or NFT.
NTT NUTRIENT TRICKLING TECHNIQUE brings hydroponics and electroculture into one system. Self P.hs nutrient to 6.35
fits lovely ina tent up too 8 plants

Have seen these everywhere. Not appropriate for cannabis based on the size. More for cilantro and basil.
And the link is for a funding scheme.

Hydro RDWC.
If you do not like to water or check numbers you will need a complete auto adjustment system which is the only way I would try Hydro. Many systems available to adjust pH and nutrients.
These grows are awesome but up front costs for a 4 bay 4x4 will be more than double coco and triple a soil grow.
Soil grows can work with an auto water system but the grower will need to determine when the pot is ready for water. As the needs change during the grow a time based system will not work well.
I hand water soil grows and have used from 500ml water bottles to a 2 gallon pump up wand that is graduated for proper volume.
I have had problems rushing watering and have been working on this. 😎
