Your yield should be bigger mine was I also started with pro mix
Last year I did a similar topping, but no where near as extensive as the manifold from this year. Promix HP vs. Hydro but the exact same genetics (Godfather OG). This grow I also used the new light (SE4500) and added the Glow30 side lights, used a proper heater (Thermoforge T3) and added the humidifier (Vivosun H05) and the GGS monitoring system. Last year I ended up with around 8 oz. dried and cured, so I'm hoping for at least double that amount this time around. I figured before jumping straight into doing a hydro grow, I'd best get used to growing indoor in a tent first...lol.

BA.

Not yet, no. I've just checked it out, and it's within 1-2ml of what I ended up with. I used the GH chart and cut it in half, then used 75% of that recommended dose. That got me to the EC I was aiming for. I'm going to have to look a lot deeper into that calculator, though, as it seems a lot easier than my "guesstimate" work. Thanks tons for that!

Hell yea im in the same boat im loving the ebb and flow its way easier than thought it was gonna be
I've been toying with the idea of moving to either an RDWC system for next winter's grow, or possibly trying my hand at an aeroponics system. My neighbour is a master electrician who specialized in Solar power system for residential. I'm sure I could get him to help me set up a back-up power system between whatever spare parts he has laying around and me spending a few bucks. My biggest worry about going aeroponic is the power going out for more than a minute or two when I'm not at home, or I'm asleep. If I'm there, I can always mist the roots but if I'm not, it could go an hour or two without power to the system, and she'd shrivel up and die on me. ☹️

I'm pretty sure I'll end up going with the RDWC system though. Just the ease of accessing the reservoir without having to disturb the plant (or the tent!) makes it that much more appealing. And now that I've got the 80" tall tent, I can put the bucket on a bit of a riser inside the tent to facilitate the drainage. Who knows, though. That's a good 7 months off. Still have to finish this grow, harvest, dry, jar it, wait, wait some more, wait a little longer, then finally get to enjoy this batch! Whatever route I go, I'll be starting another grow log here to track everything and share the adventure once again.

BA.

Ill be tagging along with ya my friend sounds awesome 👊

Same! : ) not quite sure what im hung up with? I think the having to keep on it scares me away at this point. My set up now allows me to fudge a little bit in the care aspect LOL! And at the same time I’ve been considering going back to soil!😆✌️

I have almost zero interaction with mine......damn I've become lazy🤣

Hi, folks. Update time.

Well, it's been 10 days since I put my seedling into the DWC system, and 15 days since she broke out of her shell. Just finished my first reservoir change, and I'll be doing it weekly from this point on. I'm making it a Saturday Night habit so it's much easier for my old and addled brain to remember!

So, here's what's gone into the solution of around 6 gallons:
9 ml CaliMagic
12 ml GH Flora Micro
12 ml GH Flora Gro
6 ml GH Flora Bloom
25 ml 3% H2O2

I've added them in that order, stirred well between ingredients, and had an air stone bubbling in it the entire time. Once it had sat for about an hour I pH'd it to 5.8. I have left an air gap of 1-1/2" below the net pot. I'm using my local tap water, which has an EC of 0.33 (164 ppm). I ended up with a final of 1.3 EC / 667 ppm, so my nutrient solution is at around 500 ppm or 1.0 EC. My reservoir is sitting at 67.8F and isn't reaching anything warmer than about 70.5F. Environment inside my 2'x4' tent is averaging at 76F (min. 74.7, max. 77.9) according to the sensor logs. Humidity is averaging 76% with a max. of 78% and the VPD is staying right around 0.8 kPa. The tap root only extended out a few days ago (3/4" 3 days ago) but is already around 8" long and showing a ton of hairs on it. It's a nice, white and healthy looking root, and I've noticed quite a bit of growth in the plant over the last day or so. I'll be checking the pH of the new solution tonight before heading to bed, and again in the morning and will make any adjustments as needed. H2O2 is going to be added every 3 days with around 15 ml per dose. I'm not running any Hydroguard on this run, just keeping a sterile environment, as I have lots of H2O2 around. My testing meter is a Vivosun 5-in-1 and I calibrate it weekly and it has the storage solution inside the cap to keep it "fresh", so to speak. My oscillating fan is aimed slightly above the canopy and set at 3/10, and it is just moving the leaves as it passes over it. Very minimal air flow directly on the seedling itself, but lots of air movement around the tent between that and the 8" floor fan aimed at the reservoir. My SE4500 is currently on at 40% hanging about 22" above the plant, with a PPFD of 332 on an 18/6 cycle with an extra half hour at each end using the "sunrise/sunset" settings. This gives me a DLI of around 22.11 mol/m²/day.

I think that's all the data and information, so on to the pics.

The stem seems nice and straight.View attachment 2602796

The leaves are coming in quite healthy by the looks of it so far.

The tap root is really growing quickly, considering it was not even 1" long on Wednesday evening!

Thanks to all who dropped in to see my latest update. I'll keep up on it at least weekly, more often as changes occur more quickly. If anyone sees anything wrong, or has any suggestions, please don't hesitate to mention them to me. This is only my second indoor grow and my first using hydroponics, so it's a definite learning experience for me (hence me just growing the one plant this cycle). I appreciate all advice and help.

Cheers,

BA.
So Exciting ,When the tap peep's it's head out from the depth's of the pot ...So Exciting

Ah, good times, good times! And since then, it's been an amazing ride. From a seedling 9 weeks ago to a flowering bush today! This delving into hydroponics has been an incredible learning experience, but soooo much simpler than I'd anticipated.

Morning, folks. Update time.

The new tent...what can I say, it's working perfectly. Environment is completely dialed in, day and night. Stretch is pretty well over now and she's 44x29x25" tall. It's day 25 since flipping to 12/12 and 17 days since she sprouted her first pistils. Did a pretty decent defoliation on her undercarriage the other day so good air flow. Buds are really starting to show themselves and stacking up just fine. One thing I've noticed (and was warned about) is she's a thirsty girl! Going through about 4L of distilled water per day, so I'm getting really good at topping up with nutrients...lol. I'm keeping the EC at around 1.65 currently and it seems she's liking it. Raised the light by a few inches, too, as I was just starting to get a bit of light burn on the very tips of the upper leaves. PPFD is still around 875 at the canopy top and 350 in the middle.

Anyway, on to the pics.

Here's an overhead shot of her:

Hi, folks. Update time.

It's been a little over a week since my last update, just been so incredibly busy with work I haven't had the time to do one. The bad news first. She was a little more thirsty than I expected and my water level got too low. Didn't run out or even put it in the danger zone, but my EC shot through the roof. I'm fairly certain my mix had too much nitrogen in it, too, and you'll see in the pictures how the newer smaller leaves decided to do some clawing. I've done a full res. change, light on the Grow and heavier on the Bloom. EC is stable now at 1.57 and my pH is at 5.85. Other than some clawing and some leaves getting a bit darker green, it doesn't seem to have done much in the way of actual damage. Buds are starting to stack nicely, other than a tiny bit of tip burn, no sign of the high EC doing any lasting damage.

Vertical stretch is over, and she's moved on to fattening up! Other than the odd leaf here and there, defoliation is over for now. Cleaned up through the canopy, getting lots of light from all directions and air flow is good. Temps are under control (low 60's all night and low to mid 70's all day) and humidity is stable at 48-52% through the entire 24 hour period. VPD is staying in my safe zone so the environment seems dialed right in. Roots are almost at the point where they're filling the bucket! Still, managed to get 15L of distilled water in the reservoir and it leaves me about 1.25" from the bottom of the net pot. I'm sure that level will be up to 3" below by the morning, so all is good there. I'll keep an eye on the EC/pH over the next 16 hours and make adjustments as needed.

Anyway, on to the pics!

Here's a couple of overall shots of her:

As usual, thanks to those who popped by for a visit. I'll try and keep a more regular diary and update it twice a week moving forward (no promises!) as we move into the more exciting stages.

Cheers,

BA.

Where did you get the square bucket
That's the 7-gallon bucket that's part of the 2-bucket system I bought from Spider Farmer. Came with the 2 buckets/lids/net pots, the air pump and 2- 1"x3" flat round air stones. I added 2 more 2"x4" cylindrical stones for 4 in total in the one bucket for maximum aeration. They've also got the triangular access hatch in the lid top, which makes things easier for top ups, checks, etc.

Cheers,

BA

Real nice long sticks on that girl. Gonna get some leaners in there.....your on cruise control now.
Thanks, gmonster! Yeah, the training really paid off on this grow. I couldn't be happier. Luckily the new tent claims you can hang 150 lbs from the bars. Between the light and the exhaust fan I'm probably at no more than 15 lbs so far. I've no doubt it'll look like a damn puppet show in there by the time I'm ready to harvest, what with all the supporting strings I'll have to use. 😂🤣

Cheers,

BA.
