I turned 60 last summer, I must say I do feel my age and don't look forward to the next decade without enhancing my mobility more! My mind feels young and energetic.
Mobility is also my issue. Not so much from CoPD, but from the couple mini strokes I had because my blood pressure was so freeking high. I have a tough time with my balance from the bit of brain fog I've had since my first stroke. Climbing the stairs to piss 4 or 5 times a night is gonna do me in when I lose my balance and fall down the stairs some night. Been trying to get my kids to build a pisser downstairs.

Oh man, blood pressure...I have a cracked tooth right now, my blood pressure is so high that I am refused treatment to get the darn thing fixed. Just saw a Dr this week for BP medication so hopefully I can make an appointment in a couple/few weeks. Fortunately I don't have to deal with stairs in my home - only when I go outside to feed chickens 😉

19 days since my seeds popped and I am in full blown veg. I have high? hopes for these newlly filled Earthboxes. This is the 1st run for 2 of them and the 3rd for the other. I tried something new for the youngest one, I went with 5 gallons of Coast of Maine (Bar and Harbor Blend) and 5 gallons of HP Promix+mycorrhizae. I added 2 gallons of Wiggle worm castings and a gallon of my own from under my cold compost pile.

The fungal layer that is building is crucial to long term use. Nutrient highways I like to call them. I have been stealing some of my Granddaughter's Timothy hay the she feeds her caveys and sprinkling a bit on top of my boxes. Shit gets devoured by the saprophytic (?) fungus almost overnight.

This one was supposed to be SSH, but I think I may have mislabed it. It's showing the classic Glue structure, bushy with wide bladed leaves.

This looks more like what I would expect out of a sativa dominate Super silver haze.

This is my watering jug. It's a 6 1/2 gallon carboy used for making wine. I have a wine pump that works by siphon action. You just give the rod a couple pumps (giggity) and it fills the boxes.

I filled the reservoirs for the first time this morning and topped each one. The plan is to add my scrog screen in a few days to tame the SSH stretch. I've been told this one like to stretch to the moon. Glue I have grown several times and that is much more managable.

The ancient secret watering technique!! 👀

Oops sorry boss mis posted on wrong thread....

Nothing done this week except watch them grow and break the apical dominance by topping each one. I may not scrog this grow. We'll see how it goes.

I used some Bud Trainers to widen them out a bit and expose the center to light.

fungal mat has engulfed the Timothy hay/alfalfa

I got my scrog screen set up and started tucking. I raised my light from 24" to 30" to encourage the nodes to be farther apart to fill the screen easier. I will lower it back to 24" a few days before I flip to keep the nodes closer for the stretch. I also gave them each 2 tablespoons of kelp meal and a little more Timothy hay. The fungal layer is devouring it now so it should be available in 10 days or so when I flip.

My ppfd is just over 500 at canopy so I am not pushing them. I'm also trying to do this with 74 degree leaf temperature and 65% humidity.

No pressure on the plants

I have one box with 2 Glue that is not part of the scrog. I am letting them grow true to form other than a single topping at node 5.

I have only 6 feet for the scrog and that is why I like to keep the preflip height at 12" or less.

I plan to flip on April 13, my birthday. Coincidentally, I am shaving my beard off that day. I have been growing it for 1 year and it is solid grey and making me look older than 60.

The finally have their pubes. They are ready to flower any day.

My tiny 3 x 4 1/2 ft grow 'tent' is as full as I like it. I still need to get in there and defoliate. And 2 of the boxes have their fill tubes in the back so I should flip in a day or two. The outside temp is the high 20's to low 30's for the next two days, so I will flip after to keep the soil biology from stressing the new demands.

My scrog is full enough for me. The stretch should help fill in the remaining squares.

Now to hope I have enough height left to keep my lights at the correct distance. The 2 Atriums are best at 14" and the Maxsisun is best at 24"

Patience is a virtue. I like to veg them longer, but it's gamble with the stretch. Thats gonna be corner to corner coverage.

I'm at 50% with the two Atriums and 65% with the Maxsisun. I'm running a fairly even 550 ppfd across the whole canopy at this distance/dimmer level. I don't like to flower over 900. If I vegged another week I'd be afraid I'd have to have my light too close if these SSH stretch to 3x. I've only hade Durban stretch that much before but I have been told the SS Haze like to get tall also.

Flower Day 2
Just a couple before and after pix from the first defo.

Not a big difference but I opened up the bottom a quite a bit. I got a whole shopping bag of leaves. Cant feed them all back to the boxes so they went in my cold compost pile. I also gave a handful to my granddaughter's pet caveys. They munched them down faster than you can say "Here ya go, boys"

Now I hope my Appalachian weather holds off on any more cold spells.

Which one is which? Left center right

The 2 plants on the far left are Original Glue. There are 2 plants in 1 box. The center and far right ones in the scrog are both the Super Silver Haze.

Personally I don't like any Haze, but my two sons do. I'm a Glue guy.

Flower Day 10

The glue is almost done with stretching. In my experience it stretches to day 14 or so. Crowns are just starting to form.

1000004556

I was half a day late on filling the reservoir for the Glue several days ago and a couple of the mid tips got a light burn. This thing is drinking a full reservoir (3 gallons) a day. My VPD has been fairly consistent, not going above 1.2 kpa since I started flower. My AC Infinity humidifier only comes a couple times per day now.

This is my first time growing SSH so I have had to do a lot of research on it. From what I understand all Hazes are slow to start stretch...sometimes not even starting until day 10, but they continue to stretch for 3+weeks...providing you dont stress them during this time. They also like a lower ppfd during stretch and I am at 650 right now at 2 inches from canopy. I will hit 900-950 at peak intensity in about 2 weeks

1776434453272

I was advised NOT to defolitae until after its done stretching because stress will mess up the internade spacing. I did a light defol on day one by removing half a dozen leaves to improve light penetration. I cleaned up everything below my scrog screen also right before I flipped.

1000004544

The entire canopy looks great for day 10 IMO. I have the SSH under a 300 watt Maxsisun and the Glue under two 100 watt Atriums Hydras. None of the lights are above 75%.
