Hi, i just defoliated on day 18 of flower.
I was a bit nervous about taking too much off, so i left more than I've seen some people do.

Do you think is did ok and will my buds start appearing soon? I'm getting a few little white hairs (pistils?) where the buds are, on some plants.

First 2 - before
Second 2 - after

Nailed it! 🔨

Looks great!

It's not uncommon but it's annoying. I'm going through it with a plant now. It was barely showing sex when I flipped it so it took another week to get it's shit together. Either way there's not much you can do about it now. Just make sure you don't move ahead too far in your nute schedule. You might have to stay in "early flower" or whatever they call it longer.

I've fed 1.9 ec (0.5ml cal mag, 3.0ml canna a + b) for nearly 2 weeks now and if i did go any higher, I think it would be around 2.1 (0.5ml cal mag, 3.5ml canna a + b) , but I'll hold back from that for now. thanks

If my input ec is 1.9 and I'm getting 3.2 out, even with 50% runoff for 2 days, do I need to flush that plant with a weaker solution such as 1.4 ec?
The plant looks healthy.
The plants seem to drink different amounts daily so it's hard to say I'll put x amount in and I know I'll get x amount of run off.

Yes and possibly lower the EC every feed until it stops jumping so high. If you go right back to 1.9 it will likely be high again.

You should notice a drop in water consumption after the defoliation as well so take that into account.

Why does it do that?
I thought 1.9 was not excessive for my feed at this stage, and with the high runoff amount (50% runoff), how are salts not flushing away?

1.5 would be "not excessive" 1.9 is about as high as I go and it's only for a couple weeks.
The rule I use is that plants will survive with 50% of whatever a given manufacturer recommends. GH trio feed schedule has 3 levels, low, mid and high EC. I'm somewhere between mid and high but I kind of fuck around and do my own thing now.

If you stick with the same nutes every grow you will eventually get very good at feeding your plants once you find a brand you like
