Also now I wonder if you can precipitate buffers and minerals by sanding the water with rock dust, it's a war against time and gravity but it might work.

I fucked around for a minute... create space between the soil and the pot gentyl, and pour in perlite (about 1/8th inch layer) let the soil relax back and it should work itself in pretty well if you rotate the pot daily. Just by the agitation in the motions. Rock dust will create pockets at this point no matter what.
It sounds counterintuitive, but a proper surfactant actually improves aeration by thinning water films and opening pore space. The only time it becomes a problem is when the dose is too strong — then the water coats everything evenly, pore tension collapses, and the medium behaves more anaerobically. It’s all about staying in the right range.
So you can get some aeration boost with a little bit of surfectant without amending anything. It's not a panacea but it can help.
