What's up farmers? I picked these Chemdog cuts up about 3 weeks ago and thought I would do a diary. They have been vegging for two weeks at this point.
Here are some pics:

The plan is to flip them 7 - 10 days after transplant.
I have them under 2k watts for veg and I will bump it up to 3k for flowering. Running a 21 site ebb and gro system. A 12,500 btu mini-split and dehumidifer take care of the climate control.
I will try and update this weekly. If anyone has any questions just ask.
Cheers!

Hey SD....nice set up!
It looks like the D...or could it be another?

I always wanted to run with an ebb&grow. I hear complaints from people, but I never know if it's the grower or the system. What would you say the ebb&grow's weakest points are?

Sorry for the lag everyone.

Nice! Do your stakes stay stable in just the hydrotin?

Thanks for stopping by amsertcal! The stakes stay stable enough in the hydrotron. I like to get mine in at transplant so the roots don't get damaged.

Sorry for the multiple posts. Trainwrecked and can't figure out how to multi- quote

Hey Capo thanks for stopping by and the kind words.
Not really sure which one she is. I know she isn't Chemdog #4, she isn't the Progressive Options/OnlyOrganic Chemdog D fiasco and she isn't PNC's Chemdog D so there is still a chance that she's the real D.

In my opinion the ebb and grow system works great when you dial it in.
Since all the water doesn't drain out of the buckets you absolutely need to keep the water cold (68 to 71 degrees). I also suggest you aerate the res and controller bucket big time. I use a 110 watt air pump with micro pore diffusers and when I lift the water pots out I can see bubbles.
If you dial in your water the only thing you really have to worry about is being diligent about spills. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone in an apartment or an attached house. Dropping 50 plus gallons on the floor blows. A heavy duty shop vac is a MUST.
Once set up it is super easy to maintain and the yields are real good.

More pics this weekend.

Cheers!

What kind of spills have you seen? Just overflowing? What size rez do you have? The whole thing spilled? That would really suck. I just re-read that. Sorry for the rapid fire questions.

The spills have happened a couple of ways. The worst is when the servo went bad and never stopped pumping so you dump most of your rez on the floor. The rez is 55 gallons which I fill up to 50 so worst case scenario you dump about 30 gallons on the floor. The bigger problem is that the buckets are pretty much full of water and the roots suffocate if you don't catch it in time and then its root rot city. Game over just throw away the set up and start again.
Another is Murphys Law shows up and wiggles a hose or a grommet just loose enough to leak all over the floor. This is actually preferred since the buckets don't sit in standing water so all you really need is a shop vac and some towels.
Neither happens that often, in fact I have only had the servo go bad twice in 10 plus years of using the system but those two times basically set me back to square one starting over from seed. Murphy has shown up more frequently, typically once a year or so. I just wanted to give anyone thinking of trying it out to be aware.

Hope this helps.

Yep its the ebb and grow. Been using it for over ten years, its pretty much all in the servo. The servo fails, game over. Any other leaks no worries, silicon sealant.

everything looks good bro! pulling up a chair

Thanks decept1 I appreciate it.

Here are some new pics taken today.
Day 9 of flowering
Week_2_B.jpg

Week_2_A.jpg

Not too much to see yet. It should pick up in a week or two.
So far they are doing great. She is a heavy feeder and loves her cal/mg. I topped all but one and they have responded nicely turning into little bushes. Each topped plant has between 3 and 6 heads most average about 5. This is without any additional training. The un-topped one was one of the runts of the litter so she got FIM'd as an experiment. Its real early but from the looks of it she needs to be topped.
For veg nutes I am using Gen Hydros 3 part, pro-tekt silica, cal/mg, B'cuzz roots and bioag's fulpower. Later on (typically week 4) I will be adding A/N's hammerhead and swapping out the roots for Banna Manna.
Thanks again everyone for stopping by!
Cheers :animbong:

Thanks for being so candid. It's really helpful. The girls are looking good.

How long did it take to suffocate the roots when it went bad that time? And, unfortunately, water seems to be a danger with pretty much any indoor grow.

No problem bro. Glad to help. How long it takes probably depends on how cold the water is. If it's nice and cool you might have an hour or two if the water is warm I would think an hour maybe. Either way its trouble. With this system once root rot shows up you're done.

More pics this weekend

Cheers! :animbong

Looks great! They look happy. Have you grown this strain before?
Do you do any pruning or training? And what kind of nutes are you running? Do you use anything to keep the roots healthy? How much and what weeks? I hope you don't mind all the questions. Thanks.

No prob bro ask away.
This is my first run with this cut. I was told it was Chemdog, but it doesn't look like any Chemdog I have run before. It looks like Bubba Kush but with more vigor. Just hoping for dank at this point.

I only topped them one time. All were between 12" and 14" inches and got taken down to between 10" to 12" no training after that since this is our first date.

I'm running General Hydro 3 part plus bioag's FulPower, Protek silica, calmag as the base and either B'cuzz roots (clone till week 3 of flower) or AN's hammerhead and BannaManna (start during week 4 flowering which will be this friday thru week 7, finishing off weeks 8 and 9 will be AN's overdrive and bannamanna) flush 10 days. I am going to let them go 70 days.

What other strains have you grown in this system? Have you grown in other systems? Did you like this one best? Did it give you bigger yields than others? Thanks again for all the info.

Sorry for the multiple posts everyone but I can't get my multi quote to work.

When you place your rockwool did it touch the water?

What's up Headach? No when I place the rockwool (4 inch cubes) I fill a bucket about 1/2 water then turn the water on. If it floods I add more rock and do it again. What I am looking for only a small portion of top rocks to be wet. I place the mykos drops then I add another layer of rocks and place the cube. I hand water for a day or two until the roots hit water. IME if you place the rockwool too low in the buckets you will get stem rot.
Hope this helps. I can't wait to see those SFV'v EXPLODE in your UC.

Cheers bro :animbong:
