I'm legal in RI and originally had a scrubber set up. Then I realised,...when the smell was gone,...that I sure did miss it,lol

So I removed the scrubber and at the same time, improved circulation.

Any other legal growers say fuck that, I love the smell of what we do, LET IT REEK??

you maybe legal but that don't stop people smelling your crop and robbing it. might not aply to where your grow is but, just a thought.

I understand that but many may be in the same situation.

I live in a house with 6 apts and I'm 43, the youngest here. Everyone knows and could care less, all 50+yr old women, one with fibro who hits me up for a joint like 5 or 6 times a yr when the weather acts up,lol

Having a guy here, a "good guy" at that, is far more important to them. Changing fuses, shoveling the walks and cleaning the snow off everyones cars, fixing shit, bringing a/c's up from the basement every spring (and back in the fall)....you get the idea. If anything, they look out for me. It doesn't smell in the hallways, not till you open my front door and get hit in the face with it. I'm on the top floor though and people just don't come up here.

I also have digital surveillance everywhere,..... cops that sit out front all night because once I invited the popo and FD to inspect my grow, I was added to their detail ..........and a vicious cat who thinks she's a panther, lmao

alright mate, sounds like its not a problem for you where your located. but i wouldn't advise other people to do this, for their own saftey.
glad to hear your surrounded by easy going people.
and good call on the digital cameras, there always a good thing to have.
good luck with your grow.

When you grow alot of plants, and alot more plants, its more about the overall moisture/humidity and the smell of the plants, not the buds, just the plants in volume will make you nausious and uncomfortable as hell...then go in there and hit them up with some foliar treatments and the smell can be unbearable sometimes..

Scrubbers also get micro particles out of the air and keep them from settleing on your plants..also help great with air turnover..

Oh shit,...I'm not ADVISING anyone to be like me,lmao,....in oh so many ways, I'm just asking if anyone else has eliminated their scrubbers, for whatever reason, but mostly because it's a new world where you are and it's "ok" to enjoy the odor of your efforts.

I don't use a scrubber, never have. My area of concern lies with my OD plants, and damn if I can figure out how to scrub the smell offa them.

I have been ripped off several times, too. Not this year if I can help it.

As for enjoying the odor--I can't. Bitten by a Mojave green rattler back in '01, never had the same level or degree of sensitivity of sense of smell afterward. I do have a sense of smell, it's just not very good.

i love the smell of my babies but i also love my health. Smell can attract unwanted guests. With a carbon scrubber and negative pressure you can contain the smell and not let your neighbors know you have money growing on trees. they might want a slice of your pie. When you miss the smell go spend and hour breathing in the deep sweetness inside the room and exhale some co2 love to your plants at the same time :)

oops, missed this one.

I only have 8 plants flowering here at any one time, it's just a small studio apt. I've been in rooms where it all but knocks you over, lots of plants, and I know what you mean but here, with 8 in the closet,...it's just the right amount of stank, lol

Even then, it's much more prevalent during certain grow stages and with certain strains. This pineapple express is def one of the stinkiest yet. The critical yumbolt was a yummy smelling one too.

I had mine (scrubber) in-line with the fan that is exhausting the lights so my air turnover actually increased when I removed just the scrubber.

Particles? Like dust??? I can't even keep the cat hair off the buds!!!!! lmao

Maiden, that sux man, does it affect your taste also? (pretty sure taste is tied to the olfactory glands too, no/)

shit in the early 90s I had 6 plants in a closet of my second story 2 bedroom apt, you could smell them as soon as you opened your car door in the parking lot, not cool.

no reason to advertise man

yea, I can't argue with that man, I'm not "that" internet guy, lol. I guess it's a risk I have assessed and am willing to take. I feel pretty secure here.

I'll say this, and I never found anything about this when I researched, but now that I'm in hydro and not soil, the smell is a lot less prevalent even though the amount of actual weed I produce has gone up.

That's interesting, because we have an outfit that grows hydro tomatoes upcountry from us and they're the WORST tomatoes I have ever eaten. And they charge a lot for them. I still want those greenhouses, though, they're HUGE.

Oh hell, it's better than the alternative at the time (death). I haven't completely lost my sense of smell, it's just that I know I miss a lot, especially when people are talking to me about the girls the way a sommelier talks about wine, and my experience with wine is similar. I get overall smells, just not the hints of scent, and somethings I don't smell at all while others I can smell just fine. I'm not sure how it's affected my taste, but I'm sure it has because I know you're correct--taste is directly tied to smell.

As for the other stuff--if you grow OD, unless you've managed to find an extremely remote spot for your growing you run the risk of people finding your grow by smell. That's not what happened to me, but I know people can smell my gardens.

just cuz your neighbors are old farts doesnt mean their grandsons are, dont get yourself jacked and hook back up that scrubber.

if you want to enjoy the smell of your hard work then pinch a bud and tape your fingers to your upper lip

nah, I know everyones families here. Seriously, not an issue. It's been over 7 yrs since I've had one set up and haven't had a problem (knock on wood)

Today is extra stanky, trimming some Pineapple.... :)

ps- no tape needed, you just fill each nostril with a popcorn bud ;)

I wish i could grow in my area without the neighbors bugging about the smell.

On the scrubber topic...I have my own house but the neighbor's doors aren't too far off and I was wondering if I could get away with 3 plants and no carbon filter? I have a thread posted about my 1st grow if you want to see pics.
