Nice OG...the 40D is wicked kit, and liveview will change your life!! Also consider getting an IR trigger...like the ST-E2...for the 430ex

already got wireless triggers and a full strobist kit with umbrellas and all that. good thing is with the new ring light i wont need any of that besides maybe using the 430ex as an optical slave off the mr14ex ring light to flash the backround

NO DONT GET THE 40D IF YOU CAN GET THE 50D reson being the brought out the 40d to early thus not haveing the proper capabilitys live view is usless in the 40d coz you have to manuel focas pluss the lcd resolution is very poor it makes you think your pics are blury not sharp !!! when they realy are !!

logic you want a nikon d50 with 50mm sigma macro lense and a cheep ring flash all on ebay for 300 quid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did tell you i was serching for one bro .

the body of the cam is not all that important its all about the lens try not to get the f/4 there cheeper and do not produce sharp pics like a f/2.8

photography is all about money because they base it on the averige photographers income which can be very good !!! but it gets very adictive ive spen 4 times as much on 3 camreas and a full studio than my two grow rooms !!! but thats only because i will not buy shit lenses only L seires for my cam !!

i use manual focus for macro anyway and would only be using live view for macro. only thing i use lcd for is checking the histogram fro exposure and in the future to check focus for macro

ill keep the 50d in mind tho and go for that if the funds permit tho

I most certainly would recommend a camera that you can attach any kind of lenses; I use a a Nikon D40X and I love it, it is light and I can use any lens I need for the occasion. Check it out it might be your camera...

the body is ok but you wont get macros with that lens you need a macro lens with at least 1.1 magnification sigma do the best for the cheapest price but remember you will still need a macro flash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can get a compact fujifilm that can do macro shots but arnt as good as the slr's

oops, i forgot the links. will any of these compacts work for decent pics:

skuId=8791097&type=product&id=1205537513525

or maybe this one, but it'll have to be without the macro flash and lense for now. it does come with a free lense though, can that be used for macros?

i'm a noob and dont want to get overwhelmed but i would like to be able to take some nice shots to show.
