I'm in the market for a new light, and want to get an air-cooled hood, most likely a 600watt, maybe 1000, but nothing less than 600.

I've looked around loads of places, and the different ones i can find are the sun system magnum xxxl, which i think might be a bit big for my 1x1x2 metre tent. The sun system blockbuster, which i like the look and sound of, but its quite pricey.

Then there is the sputnik2, power plant aerowing, supernova and silver star. The sputnik2 sounds allright, the other two seem the less quality of them all.

Does anyone have experience with any of these and have any recommendations? I'd love to know which one is the best.

The main reason i like the blockbuster is that it says it is specifically designed for a square footprint of up tp 1.2 metres square, which is perfect for tents. But i'm sure the others are decent. Just want to hear from people who have used/ are using them.

Thanks alot, Solid.

$165 OTD for blockbuster 6" i like um alot and run one in 4x4 Sun Hut w/1000w, hinged glass is nice, 95%, nice lid.

Is anyone using Hydrofarm's Raptor reflectors? They are bigger than the XXLs. XXL Magnum 8 is 38½" x 29½" x 9½", the Raptor is 43.3L x 33.0W x 13.3H.

The Raptor has a larger footprint although she is bulky so depends on space. For a 600w lamp I would say check out that Hydro Depot they have cheap hoods. How are the Raptor's to cool?

Dude go with the blockbuster 6", Not 8" , for ah 600w a XXXL is way to big, did test and the XXXL 6" are all around better in every way then the xxxl 8 . i run 6 XXXL,s and the blockbuster 6"
XXXL 6"= $230
Blockbuster 6"=$165

That Magnum XXXL 6" price is a little high...

$185.95 -

Or you could get a Great White 6" (Magnum XXXL copy) - $149.96 -

I'm guna get a blockbuster 6" hood. Looking at the specs of it and lumes put out over 1 depth and 30cm depth in one of those graph things, and footprint graphs. It way outperforms the magnum xxxl and sun system 2. There's no other choice to be made after seeing that. The light footprint is miles ahead of all the other reflectors tested, air-cooled/normal/adjustawing/vertizontal parabolic and quite a few more. Defintely the first choice for a square tent. I'm going to go with the compact ballast. I'm happy it will be fine, never had a problem with my onew so far, and heard the digi ballasts fuck up after a while.

$183.95+ 50 ship'n= 233.95
im just try'n to help, i dont just buy shit without do'n research, the xxxl's and blockbuster are the too best reflectors on the market, i run um and i know they work.
i just bought 3 new xxxl 6" from the med show in michigan for $180 each OTD, so you can find good deals but for my other 5 i paid $218 OTD locally at the store with discount.

Yup good choose Solidopc the blockbuster 6" puts out a perfect square for a 5x5 or smaller, plus its 95% reflective instead of others at 80%.
also the hinged glass is also real nice and it has aerodynamic socket.

Your post below doesn't contain the abbreviation "OTD" or "shipping included"

The post below that you made contains the abbreviation "OTD" but, only referencing the Blaockbuster 6"

I was only trying to help as well, I purchased my 2 XXXL's during a free shipping promotion, that may be available if the vendor is called via telephone.

Logistics is a service, not a product...

I thought we were discussing products, not services.

I apologize for my confusion. :handshake

Thanks for all the i put guys. It's been good reading. I pretty much knew the magnum and blockbuster were the two best ones. But fpr reasons stated in the earlier post, it's defininately the 6" blockbuster 600watter for me.

I rekon its going to really improve yield and bud density. This is the rea;;y fun part. Once you've grown for a good few years, you start to dial in your space, and thats what i am doing now. Just bought ,my 4 pot auto watering setup, new hood next, and a rhino filter. Things should be pretty perfect in the grow area once its all setup.

2-xxxl hoods= worst investment i ever made. they did worse than 2 6in xtrasuns. all 4 had 1000 hotilux.

4- 6in daystars= one of the best investments i have made.

i personally like the hydrofarm hoods more the the sunlight supply's.

the 6 in radiant is the same as the blockbuster, but way cheaper$127 bucks here.

>>>for a square tent you arent gonna beat the foot print of the XXXL, seems they were married for a tent haha

Have a look at the pereformance data in the link there. These guys are one of the premier growshops in the UK, and dont sell stuff they havn't tested. They seem to think the blockbuster is much better for a sqaure areas, and the graphs you can flick through in the liunk i am giving seem to back that up. Each to their own i guess. The xxxl is bigger, but the blockbuster has a much better footprint, particulary for a square area, and its light penetration outperforms all the others they sell.

Ok>>I was just suggesting my man<<<
when I did a run in a 4x4 jardin dr150>>I pulled 3.2 pounds of Casey Jones<<>>using a 4x4 table, XXXL hood and 1000 watt bulb:):harvest:I dont think that woulda happened if I used a blockbuster:)

Sorry mate, forgot the link, lol.

Tell me what you think of the graphs, the blockbuster comes out ontop in all of them, so im sure it could of at least equaled the xxxl, though they dont sell either of them in 1000's, just 400s and 600s.

i really like GTD's recommendation.

but gtd... with 600w lamps? still go with the xxxl? if trying to cover a 4x4 space or 5x5 space?

thanks!:character0029:
