I really want to start to get into some serious breeding and quick fuckin around. Can anyone suggest me a few of the best books to learn from? I heard DJ's book is quite good but reviews seems to indicate it is pretty basic. How about Marijuana Botany?

Any info is welcome!

I'm a rookie breeder, but I think Marijuana Botany is a great book, I have a hand me down copy. It is pretty detailed, yet easy for me to undertsand. This book is where I got my idea that everybody should save seeds and pollen.

I enjoyed this one. Marijuana Botany is good too but for breeding it only covers a little bit.

Ya, there's decent genetics readily available out there. But the stuff I truly want doesn't get put out on the clone shelves since people hold onto those kind of dank strains. So I've decided its times to just go balls deep and breed my own strains. Can't decide if I want to start out with marijuana botany or the cannabis breeders bible?

Thank you @antikush and Marijuana botany is a great book for all interested in cannabis. It is NOT a great breeding guide.

Peace

I would recommend marijuana botany over the breeder's bible as well - botany is awesome I literally read it cover to cover

edit to add...breeder's bible is def the one for breeders. But starting with Botany will def get you a head start and really help you identify traits in your seedlings.

Murphy Stevens: How To Grow Marijuana Indoors Under Lights. 1973. Og growers guide. Covers everything from colcichine to HID. Cool shots of bell bottoms as well. Found this tome in my friends dads dresser drawer along with a few other useful cultural items in 1988. Changed our lives completely. Never looked at a JCPenny catalog the same way after that day either.

@zeke I have been wanting to post some pictures from this book. I see you like the older printed materials, that is a passion of mine! Hope you like them. The incredible 12 foot sativas growing indoors are incredible. Quite few years before SOG became the norm indoors! :) There are about sixteen pictures of sativas in here, just a two or three indica pictures. Do you know if Murphy Stevens was a pen name for somebody else? One of the birds-eye pictures looks like Mel or Ed when he had hair :) Let me know if you want me to post the rest of the good pages?

I heard that Murphy Stevens was the pseudonym of a Seattle Hydro shop owner Steve Murphy. Seems plausible. Beautiful pictures. Bringing back memories. I'm gonna hafta source a print copy of the online jcpenny catalog. ...

Yeah that would make sense, in the back of the book there is a good ad for a store in Washington State.

One of the fert products was a manufacturer named "AGRO" and always wondered if the the slang "AGRO BUDS" came from this products popularity :)
