Question on vegatatitive time frame

Question for you guys. When I was shopping for my nutrients reviewing their feeding schedual most only called for the plant to be in veg for about 2 weeks. I know depending on strain a plant can upward of 2x it's size when the light cycle goes to 12/12. Is that why it's so short.
Like everyone I want to get it harvested asap as long as quality didn't suffer

Veg times are really up to you. I usually veg for 6 weeks depending on the strain and how fast is grows. It really comes down to how much space you have. I do not think that a long or a short veg time has anything to do with the quality of the bud. hope that helps.

I just pulled out my old fox farm feeding chart and it shows a 4 week veg. I think that is pretty standard with most nutrient company's. 2 weeks seems short to me. but like i said it all depends on how big of plants your space and light can handle.

depends on if your using clones or seeds

certain strains from clone need very little veg time as they "stretch" when you flip the lights to 12 on 12 off

Depends on your medium as well. A well rooted clone in a good UC room may only require 2 weeks of veg to stay a manageable size after it stretches. Veg time is undetermined. Let the girls tell u if they need another week or so, plus it will reflect in your yields too.

You can train em to keep em short bushes.
I train mine flat and with lots of colas due to my height restrictions.
Heres a plant 4 months old(2veg/2flower) under 2 ft.

The longer you veg the bigger the roots, an bigger fruits

I veg under 24 hrs for at least a month cause it won't show sex tell it is mature enough about a month for indicas, 2 months for some sativas.

If your growing from seeds,
Wouldn't you want to veg long enough to determine sex before flowering?

Thanks to everyone ESP u motherload. I am starting from seed 1 LSD 1 happy seed green poison 1 UFO dinafem power kush. I just put them In. Plugs and put a tiny bit of plug medium so the would be hit by any light. I can remove them if it's a bad idea. Sprinkleing them with 6.8 ph water no nuets. Am trying to not overwater and planted them yesterday. I think u guys are dead on about letting the plants tell u when there ready. To the best of my knoledge there all feminizd. Not sure about the kush.

Im gonna see my buddy who grows the lsd in a day or 2 - Ill try and get some more info from him - I know he said it grows fast in veg and is ez to grow - hes not the most advanced gardner and he does pretty well with it

Your aces man, does it sound like I'm headed in the right direction. Am just so worried about overwatering.

the watering thing is ez man - dont over think it

you have to get a feel for it - fill your container with medium dry - pick it up get a feel or what it weighs - now water it and feel what it weighs

what medium you going with - its harder to overwater coco then dirt - food for thought

also when they are seedlings its better to err on the side of too wet then too dry

Buts that's after they sprout right. I thought it was easy yo overdo it with the water in the beging. I think I'll be ok once I get it at the begining of veg it's seedling stGe I'm worried about

I sow seeds right into soil in small beer cups that I pre wet before hand

then I just mist the tops when I see it start to dry

I hadnt popped any seeds in years til recently and the old tried and true was just fine

id say same for the RR's - just spray them when you see the tops drying out

I have been reading up on the seeds I am working with. Most 7-9 weeks and feminized. Am I using the veg cycle to help determin the size I want my final product to be ie if it's getting big at 3 weeks then flip light scedual to 12/12 to account for additional growth. It looks like the three I got now in ground share very similar growth charicteristics so I don't think switching will be a problem.

:bong-hits:I'm working with BOG LSD. My buddy who grew LSD in his hydro system before me said 55 days on the flower which is on the money. I started from seed in soil, in the first week of April (the 5th) seeds popped... I let them veg until the last week of June (the 21st)and just pulled today. Starting from clones the LSD only needs 2 weeks to veg (after rooting)and then you can immediately flower. LSD is a pretty short plant, about 3 1/2 feet not topped at the end of flowering. I topped mine so I let them grow awhile and they grew only 2 1/2 feet. TIGHT ASS NUGGETS!!! Like rocks and crystally!! LSD is easy to grow and has a nice outcome if you give her enough light. I plucked a lot of leaf in the last 3 weeks of flowering and even the nugs on the bottom got dense!
