Interested to hear how the Bud Candy works compared to the old Sweet Leaf.
I know that the old Sweet Leaf had a reputation of making all strains taste like bubblegum, not necessarily bad in itself but most people I know want strains to have their own tastes and flavours to them.
On the old AN forum the consensus seemed to be to use it as an alternative to Carboload for mothers and vegging plants and using the Carboload during flowering to avoid adulterating the weeds character.
Glad to see on the label that Sandalwood Extract is not mentioned on the label. The last bottle of Sweet Leaf I bought (nearly a year ago), had sandalwood extract on the ingredients list along with a vastly reduced range of amino acids.
Looks like they've gone back to the old recipe:happy

I do not worry about prices anymore. I use what gives me more control over my girls. I would buy a 3 part fert much quicker then I would use a 1 or 2 part base nute. I love Haifa Chem polyfeed line and would put it up againest any nute formula's out there. But I perfer to mix my own salts, not that I am buying better quality, I just perfer to mix my own. I do the same with sugars.Last week of veg I use xylose and add some aminos and fulvic to help prime them for the flip. I then add maltose, dextrose.Week 4-6 I add arabinose, finish the last 2 weeks with maltose because I love the smell of the double malted barley molasses and I feel it burns better. I think you will find out also if you add a little more fulvic to your mix you will get more molasses into your plant. I use it to help transport stuff inside my plant. My roots have not been white in a long time.
If your plants taste so bland you need to add flavor buy some frozen cranberry and grape juice, maybe some mango as well. Hell give it a menthol flavor and add peppermint oil. I would prefer to buy some tasty beans here and go Al Natural. Suerte JK

you can get a gallon jug of horticulture molasses for about ten bucks at a garden supply store. the canna bio vega that i'm trying right now smells exactly like that stuff. i guess they carbo load there nutes.

You can get molasses at a feed store for around 23 bucks/5 gal. Dextrose I buy at beer making stores, xylose I buy xylitol online for about 3.50 a lb. Maltose I use is from Edens malted barley molasses, I get that at Henry's. I pay $7 per lb of 70% fulvic acid,Michel wants too much at super-grow.Aminos acids I get from Haifa Chemicals, I just used megafol from Valagro.
SS if you put that stuff in your water all those strains will taste the same, why buy good beans to have them taste the same.

Is it a local place yo get the fulvic for 7 dollars a pound? Because thats a big difference then the 40 sum a pound from my link. A pound will last a very long time, but i plan to grow forever.

One more question, would you guys use your dextrose, and horti molasses in ebb&flo or am i askin for trouble, like i did when i put blackstrap in my SWC setup.
Smelled horrible, res was foamy. It was bad, but i lived and lean. THANKS

Hey guys,

Really good info here. Your knowlege of plants building blocks in Mindbending. I'm new to hydro growing and it was recommended to me to start using Black Strap.

Heres the situation, need your expert direction.

42 days flowering - thats when I changed light cycle.

Drip feed using GH 3 part in Rockwool. Using only micro and bloom now. 7 days ago added Kool Bloom power. The buds exploded. It's all good. Should finish around day 62.

Need to change out resivor in two days. Planning on using full strenghth GH + Powder Kool Bloom again. Should I add the molassas?

Last Resivor read 1250ppm.

I would use a Teaspoon/gal until the last 5 days or so.
For the fulvic, agricultural stores is where I would start. I had to buy 50 lbs so it helps to have good friends.JK

Fulvic supplements are not usually available in california because the department of food and agriculture does not recognize it as beneficial to plant growth.

3. Why do you not sell Ag grade Fulvic Acid in some states?

Because of the lack of industry standardized quantitative analysis, different states have different registration requirements. As example, neither Oregon nor California recognize fulvic acid as its own substance and instead refer to all of these substances under the humic acid umbrella.

The "medicine man" from High Times, Adrew H. (his last name isn't a secret, but I forget it), teaches a course at the THC foundation here in Portland, which I took. It costs $70 and consists of seven individual two-hour lectures, with demonstrations and participation too (making clones and making/trying bubble-hash and honey-oil, etc.). Most states that have medical marijuana programs also have THC foundation clinics, so if you're lucky enough to live in one of those states, I highly recommend using them to help become a medical marijuana patient, and expert grower. Getting back to the subject: the "medicine man" teaches that molasses builds-up too much iron and potassium over time, so he recommends using agave instead. Agave actually has much more concentrated carbs than molasses, which has had most of it's carbs (sugar) removed during processing. Sucanat (Sugar Cane Natural) is raw sugar before having the molasses removed, so it can be used instead of molasses - it has more sugar and so provides a better boost. Agave may be a better source of carbs than sucanat though, and I've started using it instead, because the "medicine man" recommended making the switch, plus it makes sense to me scientifically. Our local "People's" cooperative has organic raw light agave in bulk, and that's what my babies get for a carb boost now. I stop using compost solution (which is all I use for nutes) at about week 5, and start using "hygrowzyme" as a catalyst, continue using "Earth Juice" for a catalyst, and start adding agave for a carbohydrate boost, which results in bigger, sweeter buds. The last couple of waterings I only use slightly acidified water to flush the soil really well, per medicine man's recommendation. That means the hygrozyme and agave is only used for 2-3 weeks during weeks 5-7, but that's enough to make a difference!! I suppose using more hygrozyme and agave a bit earlier in flowering might boost them more, perhaps alternating with compost solution during the first few weeks might be a good strategy. ANYways, that's how I'm doing it now, but I've constantly adjusted the way I grow during the last ten years, since I first became an Oregon Medical Marijuana Act program 'patient'. We have a medical marijuana awards each year, and clones of the winning strains are made available to patients - how cool is that? If you don't have a medical marijuana program in your state, please contact your local NORML organization to help make it happen - it CAN happen! It happened here in 1998 - Oregon was the second state after California to approve a medical marijuana law, but it only happened because "we the people" MADE it happen! Medical marijuana is opening the door for cannabis hemp, which will soon become the most powerful economic engine in the world (it's already begun), as it helps us transform our society to locally based food, education, and commerce. Cannabis will save the planet, but that's a different subject...
My replacement after they got rid of the overpriced sweat leaf

this will be my first run wit blackstrap i used sucanat 4 years an its the ish

Glucose added to water should be implemented primarily mid way during FLOWERING all the way until flushing. This really promotes explosive growth and weight. b4 harvesting i give em 24hrs dark for xtra flavor! This worked 4 me, with soil and my own lineage

I'm a 2 glug's per 5 gallon bucket, myself.

I start it in Transition, and stop it as I bring out a girl out of flower.

After using rather synthetic carbs for a while now, i just introduced molasses with great results! Here's where i copped the jug: .

I start with 10mL in transition, switching to 15mL until the last week's flush.

Great thread. I saw Agave nectar at the store today and almost bought it..i think i will get some and see if i like it better than the Blackstrap.

ok now listen

plants do not intake sugar no if ands or buts
no way no how ....all you have to do is read plant biology
plants use sunlight ,water and co2 to make sucrose to give to benies for nutes carbs are for soil or coco or organic to feed the fungus and microbes in it .........it kills me to see people use carbs in hydro

CHLEATING = what microbes do to minerals in soil so plants can intake them and in return get sugar

all hydro nutes are chleated this eleminates the need for benies
also why they grow so fast its like mainlining the plant food
but it starves benies its a industry scheam

benies in a hydro (waterworking system ) is a snake oil same with carbs in hydro if you add benies and carbs they interact with each other not the plants its a scheam read plant biology and how roots and plants work and not the adds at the hydro store lol

sorry dont meen to offend anyone I just see this post pop up alot :mad0233:
