This gun thing has really taken off. Up until two weeks ago I wasn't aware or didn't even think about having guns around. Made the front page of the Denver Post today. I you take the time to read the article it seems as if this has always been the law but it is something that is new to look for when a search is being conducted. According to the article, so far nobody has been prosecuted for a registered weapon on site. Now however, the ATF is going to look at it on a case by case situation. I guess what that mens is it's another way for the feds to make a case against you even if your plant count is in order.
I have an antique 16 ga shot gun I used as a boy to hunt birds, is hasn't been fired for over 40 years but sadly I guess it has to go. Now that I think about it, I don't have it registered or have a gun permit. I'm not a gun person but didn't think a antique hanging on the wall could send me to jail.

Its just plain stupid.
Why cant they just leave us alone. I need a rifle for skunks, so what do i have to do, hide my rifle, dig it out to shoot skunks?
Case by case basis ,a little common sense WTF. Go after the gun toting meth, coke asshats and cartel types,, oh I forgot ATF sells them guns, makes ya wonder dont it?

PuteMBK I would just get a storage unit for your gun if it has sentimental value.

CM I know you got lots of property, I would just break out the back hoe and get a non working fridge and bury that bastard and cover with brush. You can keep your curing meds in it and a skunk gun.

iscrog4food, thanks I will find a place for it. What upsets me is there is just another situation thats left up to judgment. When they say a case by case situations, that gives the ATF the opportunity to fuck with you. If you do or say anything that pisses them off they are going to come down on you. I have bitched about how ambiguous mmj laws are and here is just another case.

The feds have no access to the Health Department Registry. If the Health Department releases even one name without that patient's consent, the shit storm will hit the governmental fan. No way CDPHE will release patient info.

And before you chime in... The Department of Revenue has no patient information.

If you try to use your red card as ID when buying a gun... now that's a different story. And that might indicate bigger problems that should prohibit gun ownership. :thinking

Sound advice, an a lot of storage places for a few extra bucks a month will insure your locker up to a few g's.... Az

I would rather take a chance on a charge than be have my stuff stolen, hog tied, duct taped, and beaten in my own home by a bunch of low life thieves....we will be havin a gun fight at my house no matter what the chance of gettin charged with possesion of a 12gauge.

If your weapon is hidden, off premises, or unloaded, you should just get rid of it because it is of no use to you at all...you got only a few seconds when someone kicks in the door and you don't want to be fumbling around for it....

An officer told me once, that if you don't have your side arm or shotgun in your hand or on your person already when someone kicks in the door, your pretty much sunk, 8 to 10 seconds is typicaaly what it takes to secure a property from what I understand.

Guess I'm in the minority >again<. I got rid of my gun (an old 12 guage my father-in-law gave me that I never shot) in 1990 when I had my first kid and started growing pot in my home illegally. (and checked into the laws surrounding both infractions)

When I was busted in another lifetime the first question out of the lead cops mouth was "are their any weapons in the home?" (Thankfully...there weren't.) Felony charges for weed and hash and a few pharmacueticals were plenty to navigate @ the time (I was 19, it was 1977 in Missouri).

These days....we aren't >unarmed<...we just don't have "guns".

be safe, all

so true if you own guns and grow pot - keep the guns at a relatives or in storage but having them and growing is just asking for trouble. Until the federal gov gets on board with med mj it's just not a good idea.....

if my home was to be raided and my small grow 3- plants in flower 3-moms 4- in veg and like 10 clones would my wife and minor child be in any trouble if i stated they were un aware of it. something like they though i was growing vegtable's also would clones be considered plants or just the flowering. i could easily justify three plants as being my personal usage for three months 2 zips a plant. Granted this is a non cultivating state ..... what do you guys think.....

That is a really good question. What if I am away for the weekend and my house gets raided will they arrest my wife? She has nothing to do with my garden let alone even smoke. Would the DEA listen to her or charge her. By the way my guns are gone. The intruders would probably take it away from me and stick it up my ass anyway.

Yup. That's what the statistics regarding past incidents of such a nature say could >very well< happen.

I live up in the bushes of the CO Rockies. LOTS of folks open carry here. It's nice to see. The county sheriffs do not bother us either. I believe the reason why they leave us alone it that they fear us. As it should be.

Again, the county sheriffs have the right to tell the feds to fuck off and get out of their county. Being pro-active and dealing with your local sheriffs may be beneficial. Form a small group (which will grow) and arrange a meeting with your Sheriff and discuss topics such as this. If the Sheriff is an asshole then vote in someone else who will take a stand on the 2nd amend.. or better yet run for Sheriff yourself. You need ZERO qualifications to run for county sheriff and ZERO schooling. (at least in Colorado... I am unsure what the rules are for other states).

Just never forget that there is a >strong< right-wing/conservative presence in much of/most of Colorado. Those Sheriff's are possibly cool with weaponry and may stand behind you on your 2nd Amendment rights but NONE of em are cool with mixing guns and "drug abuse(rs)".....which is what we are in their eyes...plain and simple.

toss in these latest ATF memos and just the (small town for some folks) knowledge that you have a gun >and are med< could bring em out for a visit.

just sayin'...be careful. ("when life looks like easy street...")

I (and others) have spoke with a few sherrifs and they told us they are not going to bother the people with redcards.

But yeah it is always best to be careful...but IMO I won't give up my guns, especially living in an area with bear, cougar and other killer creatures...not to mention the city slickers and redneckers who on occasion like to snoop around on private property.
