Wanted to share a little bit of information about the photos of the fuzzzzzz.
When two germinated spores mate, then it turns into hyphal knot and then into mycelium (plural mycelia) . Mycelia then create a flower (mushroom) where it spreads its spores. See the diagram below. This is the start of "Spore Germination" and moving clock-wise.

The point behind germinating spores in compost teas is the hope a mycorrhizae spore will germinate and go into the roots of plants. When the fungi and the roots work together, it increases the nutrient gathering surface area for the fungi and for the plant/tree. This is how truffles and other tree dependent mushrooms work.

The pictures above are mold. When a mushroom mates, it makes Mycelia. If you let these mold's grow, they will turn into mushrooms. Just wanted to share some words to go with the photos if any of you are into that kinda stuff.....:D

yes, the 3rd photo has the beard. No compost tea was used there.

In my 1st post I apply baby oatmeal to the compost, after a few days it had the same appearance.I originally intended to show the photo of the compost w "fungal beard" but was in a rush to brew my tea. Will try again later to post up a pic of the next batch.

I then use in the compost tea. 1st 2 photos are what the compost tea did to the top of the medium. The 1st photo it is kinda hard to see unless you enlarge it, but can see the knots.

Wanted to share more details since not clear from just pics.

Thanks Shady, Hope the baby buds keep developing at this rate. Always learning something new and excited about learning more. Not all mold is bad.

Man your garden is beautiful, I really need to break into organics. bought some of caps Bennies so I built a vortex brewer after I checked our your diy. Haven't tried it yet but looks legit for sure thanks alot for all the info.

Thanks, Right on! hope the brewer works well for you. Make sure to keep it clean. I am loving the extra 2.5 gallons over my normal 4 gallon brews.

How do you use Cap's Bennies with your brewer? Do you just toss them in with some finished compost and blackstrap molasses? How much do you use per batch?

I'm going to shop around for some of the components to that vortex brewer, but I've never used Bennies in a brewer, just compost, so it would be nice to know what costs I'm in for. Can you use just the Bennies and some molasses?

I love your super-organic grow. Microbes FTW!!

Just a small correction, when a spore germinates it sends out a hypha, and when two hyphae meet, they form mycelium. The mycelium THEN creates hyphal knots which mature into primordia (or the earliest stage of a recognizable fruit) which mature into mushroom "pins" which then grow into fully mature mushrooms given there is enough nutrition and moisture for them to continue growing before they rot or "abort." Hyphal knots cannot be created without existing mycelium which has enough nutrients for it to begin forming fruits. In other words, mycelium first, then hyphal knots, not vice versa. Your diagram clearly demonstrates that mycelium is formed before the hyphal knot. Just straightening out the info!

And also, some mushrooms will create truffles on their own accord. Ps. Tampanensis and Ps. Gallindoi being the first two species that come to mind.

I am not using caps bennies just compost/ewc. I used mykos at transplant. $28.00 for 2.2 pounds. I don't use any bennies in tea. I did test the foliar pack out in a tea once..... too much food can cause the tea to go anaerobic

ive used mykos for 2 years now and i love the stuff. really changed my root game for the better. i think youre paying a little too much tho. the 2.2lbs bag should be around 18.00. if you get the mykos 30 its even cheaper. ive always ran the pure fresh alive . the 20lb bag makes a great deal even better but im sure you know that already.

Thanks for sharing, retail price is $28.95 for 2.2lbs so your getting a good deal! I paid slightly less but did not do as good as you did. Mind sharing where you got it?..... :-) Not talking about the WP or mykos 30, just straight Mykos.

Growers choice in hayward ca. I know the owners son of xtreme gardening and whenever i see him at expos and grow events he hooks me up fat. Last time i saw him he gave me 20lb bag of mykos some 2lb bags a bunch of tea brew kits and azos.
