Ok so I've been hearing all of this talk about mmc and contracts for private growers. Does anyone know more info on this? Any one has any experience with this new contract thing? Pros cons.. any info please.

Im all up in it and haven't heard anythng like that......it would still have to be a state compliant grow, I would think, and no residential growing at all...pretty much would have to be a city approved, inspected, code compliant, and state monitored grow op.......so it would be another offsite cultivation operation for a despensary...just guessin though

Yea, see Idk, that's why im asking. Couple months ago my buddie (who owns couple mmc) said he's doing contracts now, my other friend got a job as a grower for a local mmc and said he rather get a contract that get paid hourly, this morning screwing around on craigslist I found an ad for 3 indoor and 2 outdoor contracts.... so now im all CURIOUS ON WTF IS GOING ON!!!

You can have a contract and work for a MMC as their grower, your just not paid by the hour...maybe your cotract is paid on output wieght or somethng other than the clock.....when we would consult/grow for despensaries on their dime, meaning all their gear, they pay electric, rent, fees, pay for nutes, pay for genetics, the whole nine yards and you would contract for roughly $900-$1100 a pound on the final wieght...worked pretty good for awhile..

That ad still sounds like your growin at their liscensed facilty just under contract

Yea texas im thinking the same, im sure its their spot, everything compliant with state and stuff, I just remember house bill 1284 """ anyone"" working for mmc has to do background, blah blah blah... is this just another loop hole? My best guess is its their plant count too?

It looks to me like they have an OPC license for the MMC they have and they need more product... So they are providing the space and filling it with "contract workers" which will essentially be MMC Employees that are paid by what they produce instead of hourly... You will still have to get your badge and go through all the bullshit and on top of that you will have to provide all your own equipment...

But just think.....not only will you be doing all the work and painting a target on your back for the Feds to see....you'll simultaneously be taking YOUR place as an important player in the MMJ industry!

and if ya saw it on craigslist...you know everything will check out and the guys are on the up and up...

What a sweet deal, huh?

I see it all the time working in mmc's. They rent out any space they are not using to other mmc's and get a percentage of product in return. It fills there space and helps there mmc. They are not private growers or caregiver's but mmc's working together.

I was a master grower for an MMC for 2 years or so... I would stay away from all the bullshit and drama at any cost now... Everyone that I know that works with a center has a complaint and has to deal with a bunch of bullshit... It got so bad we eventually sold the 2 centers we owned to our partners because all the drama in the industry (and partner drama too)...

It all has to do with who the people involved in your business. Growers, owners, vendors, partners, they all think that they are the shit, and nobody should tell them what to do. Thus, no two people can get passed themselves enough to get along in this industry.

Our saving grace as a dispensary/opc was to keep everything on site and within a very small circle. A family owned business with a crew of happy employees seems to be working to this point for our crew and patients.

SoCoMMJ is the only exception to this I have ever heard in dozens of stories. And it's probably the only way to go if you're considering it... save up and open your own MMC instead of trying to partner with a MMC that needs help growing

After a couple harvests the MMC owners (that can't grow and needed to hire you in the 1st place) seem to decide the grower's skills aren't so valuable. Sure, you guys can do it yourself, lol. ;)

The only problem with saving up and opening your own is that you can't do that... There is a moritorium on new centers that won't allow any to open... They keep extending it too so I don't think they will lift it any time soon

Did it get extended past this July? That's when the moratorium is up last I heard.

You could buy a license off someone else. Just can't open a new one right?

LOL...it may look good on TV but ive yet to meet anyone that enjoyed operating a 40 light grow getting paid for a 4 light grow.

Every good grower i know has turned down working at a MMC. Why do it? Whats the point? So you can pay federal taxes on something federally illegal? So you can be making $12 an hour when the feds show up and youre watering 2000 plants...lmfao no thanks.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I talked to a few reputable places and they pay 90-120 k a year to there growers and they only work limited hours. They have workers doing the hard work . I wouldn't personally work in a dispensary. But if I couldn't afford to start my own grow, it would be a serious option.
No rent.
No electric bill. (mine is 2,800 per month)
No nutrient cost.
If shit fails its someone else's investment.
Other people doing trimming and scrub work.
No where near the hours I put in for my own.
Not having to take full responsibility if the feds come in.
Doesn't seem to be to bad to me.
Now owning one that's a different story.

Pros and cons lets get it out there farmers . It can get shady real fast on the growers end no matter who you grow for . Farming isnt cheap and experiance is priceless . Either they got the dough and dont know how to grow or You can grow your ass off and you dont have the cash . Dont be to eager to sell your soul to the devil . After your first grow you should be down to 3-4 cents per gram you produce going for max production under 1 light with a strain that sells itself . After you chop and hang put the clones youve been vegin for two months in . Once your a week in to your 2nd grow take 2 the two ounces to the chick/dude who bought the missing items you needed to your grow op .Walk in to a MMC looking for vedors with a 1/4 lb or more and do the damn thang . Chances are youll be walking out of there with enough to buy another light or two some nutes. Pay your power bill off . If you sit on a QP for you and your budds you should be set as the boss ceo . How when where you get paid is up to you . It doesnt cost a thing to get your numbers in order and build the perfect setup in your head or draft it up . Start small and grow, grow, grow.
