To each his own but to me God is real. I gotta trust theres a reason for all this or I would have committed suicide long ago. I don't pray though or even kinda beleave I can understand who or what god is.

and im glad you did my brother commited suicide, i will never forget watching my dad trying to pick him up off of the noose, it didnt seem real , head the size of a basket ball , seepage.
suicide is a very ,very far reaching action.
but i cant say i havent had a gun in my mouth before. but i am still here dont know why sometimes, but here I am.

gawd yall, this cats been there as well, props to all who have shared. i was a heroin addict for 2/3's my life , i overdosed 4xs but was brought back each time, my 2 year old daughter found me on the bathroom floor needle still in my arm, and my wife said she just started screaming and crying . that was it for me, ive been clean for 10years now and my children and family are my life. i dont think i could go on having endured the pain and suffering some in this thread have. peace to all and hope you are all able to be ok. btw my heart believes in god yet my mind wont allow me to have blind faith, caught in the middle.

From a Buddhist's perspective, this is samsara, a cycle of suffering perpetuated by our own actions. Anything we are either attracted to (family, friends, drugs) or have an aversion toward (enemies, money, etc) is a cause of suffering and ultimately are the same thing. Our behaviors towards these things are repetitive and perpetuate the cycle. The best we can do is learn from our mistakes and evolve as humans. Suffering in this world is a given... but ultimately is only an illusion as the reality of this world is no more solid and permanent than a dream. We base our happiness on impermanent, illusory and "empty" phenomenon, like an attraction to a rainbow that then vanishes. Buddhists try to base their happiness on alleviating suffering, teaching and helping people... this is the only true satisfaction you will get in this world and is the same conclusion reached by many other schools of philosophy.

"All suffering without exception comes from wishing for one's own happiness. The perfect Buddhas arise from the altruistic mind. Therefore, completely exchanging one's own happiness for the suffering of others is the Bodhisattva's practice."
