I never had one before but I'm tired of buying cuts and spending a fortune on them. I want to set up a mother room but unfortunately my only option is in the attic. Is T-5 more than enough lights to keep them alive or I gotta use 600+ watts in MH for best results. I prefer to stick to T-5 if possible cause I really dont have the funds to build out the attic at this moment for proper insulation and cooling

T5s will do the trick thats what ive bin using 4 the past few years,,the moms love it

I got sick of unhealthy cuts from third parties as well, so I decided to take matters in to my own hands. My goal is to have plants that are very healthy but maintain a very slow growth rate.

Here is my mother tent setup:

4x4 Hydrohut
4, 4', 4 bulb T8 fluoros
4" active air exhaust fan
4"x20" phresh filter
6" oscillating fan
1.5 gallon humidifier

Seeds start in solo cups, then into 1 gallon plastic pots until they show sex, then into 3 gallon fabric pots. I'm using a very basic 1 part organic nute and caps bennies both as a drench and foliar. I know a lot of folks prefer t5s. I've never used them. I'm pretty pleased with the t8s and they were a bit cheaper. Plants are very very green and healthy.

wow, i didnt expect to see a healthy plant under a T8 besides clones.I was looking at the badass orange 12 bulb unit from Quantum but the cheapest I can find them locally is for 500 bucks and thats without the blub lol

There was a similar thread recently, and someone posted some comparative efficiency data on t5s vs t8s vs t12s. Basically t12s are super inefficient, but t8s are only like 5% less efficient then the t5s. I think if you want more vigorous/rapid growth t5s are it, but I can not argue with the success I am having with the t8s. 4 of those lights I have were $200 ($50 each) plus bulbs at home depot.

Also make sure you get bulbs that are in the correct temp range for veg growth. You don't have to get any special kind of plant bulb.

That giant chica in the back was a wild sativa bitch that got scrapped. Dank but airy and crazy tall. This pic is a year old but still have the 3 smaller honey dips. 250 mh fo veg fo life.

hey guys thanks for all the help. I think im going to settle on T-8s cause they're so much cheaper to buy in multiples, unlike T-5's

I guess the goal is to keep these mothers alive and growing just enough to take cuts off of on a monthly basis.

6500k is the fluoro temp you want.
