An amendment legalizing recreational marijuana use and sale passed in Colorado Tuesday night, and opposing Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) conceded defeat. With a warning for the stoners.
“The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will,” Hickenlooper said on Amendment 64. “This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through. That said, federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug so don’t break out the Cheetos or gold fish too quickly.”

At the risk of getting a bunch of incoherent hatespeech in my inbox, I'm going to say that Mr. Hickenlooper has been Colorado's best governor since Dick Lamm- and that's saying something.

That he has been on the opposing side of the pot ballot is a matter of political survival- he knows his future is one term if he says anything different. That he has said that he will implement it tells you where he actually stands- if he really hated it as much as some here have said, he has plenty of official powers to put a stop to it before it ever got out of the gate- and he hasn't.

Chickenman, you're right about the cheetos. I'll take my freshly caught wild trout with herbs and spices from my own garden, thanks all the same, Hicky!

Rob Correy and I delivered Cheetos to Governor Hick office at the capital today at 4pm live on KBPI radio and 9 news was there so it was a fun day.
and last nite at Casslemans was off the charts. And after all these years Ed Rosenthal and I met at Cassleman, crap I hope I spelled his name right. That was an honor to have that conversation and share memories from many years ago with a guy like that.
