When you are looking for the best LED grow light, what are you looking for? What questions need answers? what specs are you looking for? If you were to ask a company any question(s) about their product, what would you ask? What proof would you need from that company for them to prove that they are the best?

whats the coverage and penetration, grow journals comparable to hps.. and a feed guide. cal/mag seem to be a problem, a reasonable price.. $1500 to replace a 1000w hps getting the same results i would pay for..

I don't think it is possible to build a light for $1500 that can compare to a 1000w HPS. You definitely couldn't make one and sell it for that price.

Good quality, LED, grow lights are built to last over 12 years and replace bother your MH and HPS units.

I think it will be hard to obtain grow journals from a company. A feed guide is going to depend on what nutrient line you are using and or type of nutrients. I think both of those are a little too personal and have do not have a lot to do with the LED companies themselves. Most LED companies do not and will never grow cannibus.

3w is a lie and are not quality LEDs
The lenses are too big for the amount of diodes
There is unwanted space in between diodes
Lots of wasted light
The dies are not custom

That's as far as I'll bash it. I am not on here to be talking down specific lights. I have never done any testing with this light, but have with the LEDs they use. I have my doubts, but little knowledge is dangerous. Cold hard facts are the only thing you really want to look at. Look to see if anyone have a time lapse posted of them using the light to grow marijuana, start to finish.

i can get the same light for $500, there is no lie about the 3w, it actually increases the life of the diodes by not running them at full power

Those 357's are driven at less than 50%. I doubt it actually has any power behind the light. What is the par output on those? They don't say actual output anywhere I look.

Spend 850, get an Apache, and never worry. Hell you can get 2 AT's for 1500 and definitely replace 1000w hps which is what you wanted.

It sure would be nice to see a comparison grow of a 4x4 with a 1k hps go against your light in a 4x4 with the same strain, vegged the same, and given the same nutes. It would be even better to see you add a 4x4 tent with each of your competitors top LED light rocking the same plants too. A king of the tent LED showdown. There really is no other true way to claim your LED light as the best. Without a direct comparison to the competition in a real world setting with controlled variables any claim of being superior is only your opinion.

There are in fact LED companies that promote and showcase growing cannabis with their lights. Some companies even offer a discount to purchase their light if you share a grow log on their site. They do not delude themselves into thinking they can come onto a forum for growing cannabis and start claiming their light the best without any test data of growing cannabis and bashing everyone else, as you like to do.

The lie is that they are not 3w. They are ususually 1.6 and marketed as 3w

  • What's 240 x 3?
  • What about the fans and controllers?
  • I'm still trying to find actual spec sheet produced by any of these chinese companies. I'll see if I have any of these LEDs lying around, to do a test.

Here is Epistar's spec sheet. Oh wait, can't access it
Epistar

Here is CREE's spec sheet.
CREE

Power(Watts)=Volts x Current(Amps) 1000mA=1A
1.09W=3.1V x 0.35A

they are 3watt diodes running less than there full -power so they last longer.. there is no trick lol

You can not run 3w through them even when pushing them to the max. Please look at specs and do the math.

I have 5 advanced led lights. The diamond series are dope. If ur doing a smaller area get 100watt diamond series they are the best.

I think i will choose LED lights according to plant needs. But if i had to select then i would ask for Wattage, HP, wavelength, color type etc..so that its suited for the type of plants i grow.

I have been using these evolution 100 led lights for a while now and am pretty blown away. They are actually sold as modules because they can connect into 1 massive light as big as 1000 watts if needed. Im on my second mmj grow using these lights and have had pretty amazing results. before I was using a 2 x 400 watt HPS to grow four plants up to 4 feet tall at flowering. Now im using 3 of the 100 watt evolution grow led modules for the same grow and im getting all around better results. My last hid yield was around 13 ounces from 4 plants and my last yield with the led was 15.5 ounces from 4 plants. The only thing that changed between the two grows was the lighting, plants were the same rough size, same veg time, same nutes, etc. Another plus to switching to the led lights was the temperature difference, My 5x6 grow stays within 2-3 degrees of the rest house with minimal ventilation. One of the things that made me choose the brand i did is the fact that they have 5 different light settings so they can be used from seed to harvest, And they have a setting for pure red light to speed up the switch from veg to flower. I cant swear that this is a fact, but i can say my first crop using them was ready for harvest a good week + earlier than usual. Im still a few weeks away from seeing how this second run turns out but its looking even better than the first. The only complaint i have so far is price since the quality led brands are pretty expensive, But between my monthly power cost going down about 70% and my yields increasing i cant really complain much. Im my mind atleast the debate about leds working or not is over, They Do!

Hi BrandonBlack,

Any grow lights need to be full spectrum. Most high quality LEDs are full spectrum (Philips LumiLEDS, CREE, Nichia, Osram Square are our favorites). LEDs produce far less heat than MH or HPS, therefore less needs to be dissipated. Also, they are appx 70% more efficient than traditional lighting so your lighting bill is much smaller, they need no ramp up time and have instant on/off.

To compare product offerings, look at the amount of light you get (measured in lumens) based on the wattage needed - this is the light's efficacy. When trying to find a reputable company, look for a website that lists customers, has case studies and customer comments.

Please check out our 1000W replacement LED light.

I would be happy to answer any other questions, and good luck!

I'm sure you know about leds in general but applying them to a grow specific application has some different qualifications and things to think about. But I will shoot the shit with you and you lights.
Lumens mean nothing to plants...Par ouput in micro moles(umol) is the actual amount of light being emitted. Then from there that light needs balanced in a growth spectrum that stimulates growth by targeting photosynthetically important wavelengths. This is how led's have been able to hold there own with under par lm/w specs(like 125lm/w). But now new led's can out achieve hps even on the biassed lumens scale and blow them away in umols.
Your company's light only puts out 125lm/w...well hps does 150+lm/w and is what everyone is looking to beat. And only this year did led's come out that have 150+lm/w capabilities, but have not been employed by production systems yet.

Basically my first question should be... Why would you lights be a good grow light??
