Also, to make a very clear and unarguable point:

It doesn't matter if it's man-made. Everyone agrees it is happening/going to happen. Some people think its natural, some think we did it.

Regardless of what made it, what we unequivocally know is that we need to un-make it or we are fucked.

Point blank period.

Let's stop arguing about shit that doesn't matter and fix the problem that we all know is a problem.

Though of course, "unmaking" it is something we are far late to achieve. Sadly, we're on the fast track to total self-destruction, taking with us most other life on this planet by the looks of it.

Didn't Krakatoa,Mt St Helens and other Volcanoes and the like, cause more damage,to this system, quicker and "better" than US!
And they will again,I guess.

Volcanoes have the potential to cause mass extinctions, but the point is moot. We have no power over volcanoes. We do have power of carbon emissions. We understand well what those carbon emissions are doing and what they're capable of doing. We are fools for ignoring the warning signs which grow in number everyday.

Never say too late when talking about what amounts to a bunch of molecules to a chemist. Molecular interactions happen much faster and on a greater scale than what the human mind can usually fathom (without some prodding and math).

We can innovate our way out of this, and we can also help by slowing the fuck down with the emissions while we figure out how to do that.

Oh and money, we can spend lots of money to find an answer.

That's the point, there might be a chance to un-make it--but you're absolutely right. Sans a big change in research funding and industrial regulation the world over we are on a set path.

Even if we were to cut emissions completely tomorrow, climate change would still occur. True, it would not be such a drastic increase in temperature, but there would still be a significant increase, enough to really fuck us up. Even if theoretically we can think of a way out of this, realistically, all we can try to do is mitigate the worse of the effects and curb our emissions so that we don't make it already worse than it's going to be.

You totally glossed over the idea that we can innovate our way out of it.

This is my big suggestion. Spend money on trying to think a way out, rather than believing we can just turn off the flow and stop the worst (as if we could turn the flow off in the first place).

No sign of global warming here......fucking -20 temps

Anyone remember in the 70's when they tried the Global Cooling hoax?

^ LOL evolution LOL .................Take it easy guys and lemme guess aids came from an african guy having sex with a gay monkey then having kids and that somehow spread to america in the 50's -60's..............hhhuuuuuuuhhhhhhh (palm to face)
I'm open to the idea it was created in a lab here in the U.S of A.. Ya see a monkey got loose and this security guard was bending over picking up a bar of soap and,,,,, ah never mind nobody will believe me.. lol

Here's a response to that in 2011, this guy is waaaaaayyyy off on what he states co2 levels are.. The 70's were pre Sara palen able to tell the ice is melting lol. Did you ever see the video of the bluebird sky for days following the grounding of all air traffic after 911, the Isralie studies at that time?

That was a great experiment opportunity that had measurable effect.

supposed to be 40 today hereabouts, global warming has arrived...

from azmmj's link:

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

and:

And if increases in atmospheric CO2 are the primary cause of warming, why, from the 1940's through the mid 1970's, was the earth cooling when increases in our use of fossil fuels were at their greatest?

the 70's "cooling" hoax:
In 1974, in an article in Time Magazine entitled"Another Ice Age?,"the same alarmists suggested that the (then-)coming ice age was being caused in part by the same vehicular emissions that they're now blaming for global warming.

further:

And why is it that Mars and Jupiter, and Neptune's moon Titan, have all followed the exact same warming and cooling cycles as the earth during the 20th century? Does anyone think that our SUVs and power plants are causing the same climate change on other planets and moons in our solar system, or is it more likely that the changes there were caused by the fact that we're all in the same solar system? I.e., "It's the sun, stupid!"

and finally:

There are millions of smart people out there who have been bombarded with this global warming nonsense for so long that they've actually come to believe it. The old adage that if you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth happens to be true, especially when the people don't get to hear other points of view, something our mainstream media has made sure of over the last few decades.

WAKE UP!

way back when I saw al gore pushing this Crap...I knew it was BS.

Different sides of the spectrum for sure....but to me.... the Global Warming issue and the gun issue are both classic examples of media sensationalism initiating a paranoid/fear-based reaction from the general public.

Fact is, it's far more likely you'll die in the car you drive than from any aspect of global warming or guns/crime in our society... yet....

And Im betting the same people believe there is an "Energy crises"
and we need to "Conserve power" And Tax people that dont.

There is No shortage of Energy and Fuel on this planet!
The F-ing Sun could provide all the power we need...

The plant is two thirds water...that water is one third Hydrogen = fuel
and the left over, is ozone ..right?

and dont get me started on the "water shortage"
Here in the Central valley of Ca., they have a radio commercial that tells you when you can water your lawn:mad:

Bottom Line, If the Goverment says it....Dont believe it!

Think of it this way, ken. If there were NO restrictions on water use (above you or below you) do you think water would flow from >your< tap.....WAYYYYYYY WAYYYYYY down there in the valley as (freely as) it does today? (sky says as he watches his wife on the computer...working on water rights issues here in CO from her home office...:D)

I guess you'd say....she >is< the Gov't.?

Oh, you mean like legislating R&D? California tried to do that some years ago, tried to add a per gallon fee on all oil wells that produce more than 10barrels of oil/day. We are, as it stands, the ONLY oil-producing state in the nation that does NOT have any kind of per-barrel fee structure that goes into state coffers, gotta get that out of the way, first.

So, a proposition came up that would have added this fee onto all wells producing more than 10 barrels/day, and we, the idiots that we collectively are, voted it down (just like 37, and for the same fucking reasons why, we don't want to pay more). The fees collected would have gone specifically into certain programs, starting with funding university R&D on alternative energies, as well as building up hydrogen infrasctructure. I think there was also something in there for the... aw, shit, what are they called? The cars that follow a magnetic track. I can't remember the number of the proposition or the year it was introduced, it was after '05, though, I'm pretty sure.

In any event! California voted it down because we vote by commercial advertising. The commercial advertising 'informed' them that they'd be paying more gas taxes, so, it's voted down. The commercials, of course, didn't give the voters all the information. Like that niggling little fact that all other oil-producing states charge per barrel production fees, yet their gas prices aren't really higher than what we see in California.

Same thing happened with 37, the GMO-labeling bill. People heard it would add $400 to their grocery bill, so they voted it down without ever thinking ONCE to actually check out whether or not that 'factoid' might be true. Never once putting on a thinking cap to consider, "Hey... my food's already labeled, it would take absolutely NOTHING, given the paper trails created from farm to manufacturer, to simply add GMO information onto the label."

Nope, we can't have anything resembling critical thinking, now can we? That would lead to questioning.

Jesus Holy Lord God Mary & Joseph! Did I just go on a major rant/ramble, or what? Morning coffee & joints sometimes lead there.

<snipped>
Calling it global warming is not only buying into the media's presentation of the issue, it's a misnomer at best.

It should be rightfully called climate change or shift, and what we're experiencing in terms of more extreme weather is absolutely true. The question is, since when? The young man I mentioned previously believes the changes began with the advent of using coal and other fossil fuels (the Industrial Age).

I was being a bit extreem there Sky. Im sure your wife is doing what she feels is right.:)

I payed to have my well drilled though rock and pay (Way too much) for the power, to pump that water 500ft up out of the ground.

and recently some idiots in our county actually were thinking they could put meter on my well:confused:

when Pigs fly!

Nobody Owns that water!! And I will use as much as I need to.
