Mix just enough coco in with your super soil to improve wicking and this will save you hours of work with your setup.Looking great. Still interested in the blumats.

Ill be setting them up around the beginning of February so Ive got a couple weeks to plan a bit still. Probably will just try a light or two to start and go from there. I have 3/4 PVC lines ran into the room that used to feed drip lines so that part is covered. I can modify the lines/barbs inside the room however this project requires.
I do have a couple threads bookmarked but haven't done too much reading on them yet. I will inevitably have some questions so thanks for the offer! Definitely keep me updated on how the schedule works for you. Right now I hand water Canna, feed teas and alot of those other supplements so the rez/top feed plan is a perfect transition.
What units are you using? I know one guy using them and he said he got the maxis. I then asked if he had a wide-set vagina and dont remember any more details.

Aeration is good forsure! With blumats you can't use chunky perlite, hydroton, grows stones. The "carrot" needs good soil contact to create the suction. If a chunk is resting against the carrot it will create a dry spot and make the water drain from the carrot and flood your room. This is just what I've read. I've def got more chunks in my mix than I wanted but it's working awesome. I think they are alot less finicky than people make them out to be. Buuut if you treat it as such it's almost fail safe.big fan of aeration and coco in super soil mix. New setup looks clean, I myself have always wondered whats up with the blumats as well. Peace

Thanks brother, 3 parts coco, 2 parts promix hp, 1 part ewc. Some insect frass and alfalfa meal up in there too.
very nice walter. it looks like im headed right in the direction you are. i have been kicking around the idea of amending the coco a bit and this sounds like a nice mix you have here. have you ever tried rock dust/azomite? was thinking about adding a bit of that as well.

@ KP. Never used the Rock dust. What's its function?
@OW. It would take alot of organic matter to amend coco into soil. Maybe something like this? 2 parts compost, 2 parts coco, 1 part ewc and then frass and any other organics. Not really sure, but that sounds like soil.

Walt the rock dust is for trace minerals. Ive seen it talked about alot since I started reading about soil. Sub and Alien both use a type of rock dust in their blends. Here is a blurb from the Azomite website..
Outwest Im not positive, I think its going to come down to the ratios like Walt said. Compare the ingredients of Roots and Happy Frog below..
Happy Frog - Composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, perlite, earthworm castings, bat guano, humic acid (derived from Leonardite), oyster shell and dolomite lime (for pH adjustment).
Roots Original - Coco fiber, peat moss, perlite, pumice, premium worm castings, bat guano, kelp, fish bone meal, soy bean meal, feather meal, greensand, leonardite and alfalfa meal.
AZOMITE®is a mined natural mineral product. For over sixty years livestock and crop producers have utilized this unique material from central Utah to improve livestock and plant growth. Assays reveal that the material contains a broad spectrum of over 70 metabolically active minerals and trace elements.

Day 16...I love going into the growroom and seeing all my ladies praying. The best part of constant organic food, they never stop praying.

After looking at these pics closely, I also see the edges praying for some Cal/Mg. I will go in and spray the bottom halves of the plants with epsom salts during the dark cycle today. I didnt think I would have to worry about it since Im using PBP, Ej Micros, and filtered tap water. I guess i need to up my cal/mg dosage somehow.

Hell yeah man your room and girl look great were running similar amendments too I used azomite, glacial rock dust, and soft rock phosphate to add calcium and magnesium along with trace menerals and on top of that kelp meal, alfalfa meal, EWC'S, insect frass, and a little humus soil and for aeration im using rice hulls and hydroton I didnt use any guanos or anything with a high NPK in the mix and I mixed everything as to the amendments directions and I think thats the way im going to be doing it from now on I love soil but with the inconsistencies from brand to brand I decided ill just amend good coco and get a little faster growth out of them being it is still mostly coco with a little extra kick for the girls I like the blumats as well man I wanted to try them out this round but didnt have the $$$ anyway great work brother ill stop back in to see how things turn out much respect
