so im hearing that soil is the way to go for keeping mother plants for uc use.. which makes perfect sense, so does tha go for other hydro as well? we have done ebb and flow for 5 grows now mostly all from seed. we never kept mothers just cloned a few to make more plants come harvest time. this last grow we veged a month and a half and took a few cuttings and we ended up with about 60 plants in pretty much a 4x8 and a 3x3 full of weed. it really kinda sucked because around mid flower we had to start pulling some out due to table space. we continued the next 5 weeks pulling some out every week because there was just to damn many plants... (it was a nice problem to have though) lol! so this time around i built a uc 8 system and we have figured to just keep mothers on a table then someone said something about keeping the mamas in soil. so now its something we havent planned for so kinda rusty in soil. couple questions if you dont mind:
what kind of soil will be efficient? mirical gro, scotts??? other?
what nutes should we use for mothers?????
pot size????????
how long should mothers be kept?????
soil ph??? how to test it??????
should nutes be kept airrated?????
i know its a lot but i know the only dumb question never gets asked.... thanks any responders...

Um.

Motherkeeping isn't really related to what you plan on doing with the clones.

It is really about how to keep your mother healthy with short internode length and excellent plant vigor and lush, verdant foliage - typically associated with a high plant metabolism - but really hard to do when you do not plan on flowering a plant in short order.

I've never really got it. I always end up flowering off a mother withing just a grow cycle or two because foliage is so hard to keep healthy when metabolism is low enough to keep the plant size manageable.

Anyway - just do what you are doing - cut your next clones from each generation. I've been doing that for fucking four years running. :)

Buy the best soil you can afford, maybe some organic stuff.
I'd recommend Canna Bio Vega or any top quality nutrients. Cheap is not better and you will not use much so buy a liter.
Start with a 3 gal pot.
I have kept mom's for 7 years +
see chart for soil Ph 6 to 7
No only mix what you will use, toss any extra out.

trust me when i say that mothering plants is way easier in Soil. i have 2 moms in 5 gal water farm kits and once they get decent sized it's like a full time job maintaining those things
