a quick search did not come up with their name. i have it written down at work ill post it tomorrow if some one else dsnt chime in with it. they are in Montezuma county. i do remember that.

Yes I was on to them already with the "dank dirt" could not find them in my history but it was like 110 a yard plus 50 per hour delivery and there truck can only carry 6 yards. There dank soil has there locally harvested top soil, compost and some perlite i think? Seemed like an ok but questionable mix without trying it first i am hesitant. But 8 hours of drive time and multiple 6 yard loads kills it for me.

actually $200 per yard.....I could suck that up but $400 extra to deliver makes me think its better to mix it myself.....man this has got to be the hardest part and the most key to success. Lets put our heads together and figure it out

too far for me as well...sounds like some good mj soil though. Lets hope they get popular and spread out their business to other areas.

So I think i am going to have a a 25 ton semi load of high quality compost delivered from a local sand company. I plan on mixing up my own batches of soil to use this season with added amendments. To damn expensive to buy pre mixed. Here is an article from one of my favorite magazine's (mother earth news) on the subject that got me motivated to experiment. http://www.motherearthnews.com/Orga...Make-Your-Own-Potting-Soil.aspx#axzz2JbvWm7OR

Good article CF. Interesting to note that vermiculite is not the best choice as it is being depleted and has possible asbestos contamination. And sand is a good replacement for perlite as well. Hopefully the sand ain't contaminated either!

Yea most the ingredients in commercial potting soil are strip mined and shipped all over the country. Really not a good thing for long term sustainability. With good compost you can just plant directly in the compost. I am going to be experimenting to find the best solution for my plans. Need to find a way to make a huge 40 yard solar oven to pasturize the mix......probably just go unpasturized this season.

I think biochar has the best potential to replace perlite and lighten up the mix. It gets soaked in compost tea and has water holding qualities. It also gives the microbes a place to live and reproduce making it through dry spells. Charcoal is also a natural pathogen filter/ cleaner and absorbs nutrients to release over time. Going to fill up 55 gal steel drums with firewood and make a biochar burner to put the steel drums in for a clean burn. Probably hook up the biochar burner to a heat exchanger to warm up my hillbilly hot tub with a thermosyphon system to make the best use of the extra wood gas heat. Picture sitting in a 300 gallon stock tank hot tub sipping some wine with a fatty waiting for the biochar. haha Kolah do i remember reading you live in a tipi?

Hey co chem....what light cycle do you have your outdoor on before they go out to veg for the season? Ever have problems with them premature flowering? Got some new pics of the seed starts just waiting for a new powerchord for my computer

18 hrs, should harden off before planting

From an old colorado outdoor hand, id go with 16/8 indoors and harden off for a planting june 1. good luck. im right at 16 hrs lite on june 1 in my area (at my lat). Dont let them get rootbound, or youll be sorry.

best regards, mendel

hmm never tried that for my ods. ive ran 16 before, just trying to save money thou lol. running my light deppers at 18 atm . were at about 11hrs daylight right now in the soco. hoping to put em out between apr 15 and march 15 i know thats kinda a big span. but the weather is kinda crazy around here. it was raining last night and snowing yesterday morn. 68 degrees all day today. lol. yeah..........

Hi there we are loading a big heated house march 1 w jackie o's in pots, it slayed it last yr for an early finish (may 15) Propane seems to be more expensive than it used to be.

I always like 16/8, but then I dont get my big outie groove kicked off til march 1 or so. they dont get as big before putout ....poundas.......but are easier to bag up and bring to the trimmers.........we have fly overs here in our area you kno....us flatlanders have all the breaks, less snow and an ealy spring can be good for those tat want to do the work. I have mad respect for all you mountain boys except the ones running on geothermal........;)

You wont gain anything putting out early in co unless you putting out under cover, which is a viable option. the weather here is too unpredictable unless your ready to cover your crop. The sun shines, its spring, no wait, it can snow 3 ft in april........yes it really can.

Grow from seed, get your holes ready, you know the drill, sprout em march 1, and sex em in pots before putout.

Right on man looks really good. I am also getting my outdoor crop ready, have white widow, red headed rom, some maui just to name a few new strains I just popped and ill have cuts comeing off of a few girls befor they go into the flower room. I built a 10' x 16' hoop house in the backyard this year, last it was 10' x 10' and flowered 11 lovley ladies. this year im gonna push a few more.

I have a question for you? How do you attach your plastic to your hoops? Also what is the purpose of the chimney pipe on the first hoop house in the picture. My new hoop house has a walkway in the middle and is raised on both sides. My ladies go straight into the ground. Last year in that area I grew corn beans and squash and I continuously work the ground and compsot and let my chickens run free in my garden area during the winter also. As soon as I can Ill put some pics on here from last year. Thanks for the post

I do my light dep crop at 24 hours of light veg them toss em in the greenhouse to flower. Did 16/8 for the main show and it worked out on most strains but had a few start to flower then revert to veg again. There is a sticky on ic mag with many debates on how to best approach this crucial element. Seems the general rule of thumb is to match the natural light cycle on the day you put them out. Around 15 and a half hours of light for my area around late may.

Bevin.....thanks glad to have ya on board!
I attach the plastic with a furring strip of wood that I soak in the creek so it can bend then screw it down to the end hoops with self tapping sheet metal screws with washers on them. Held up in border line tornado winds! The chimney is from a propane heater that I had in there to extend the seasons in early spring/ late summer. Im taking colorado chems advice and putting the main show in the ground with some 1 yard holes filled with good soil this season. Good call on letting the chickens roam around in there. They eat the bottom leaves off for me and keep some of the bugs in check. Plus its just fun to have them!

here is a couple of my cluckers cleaning up underneath the apple tree

drum rolls.......well here is the new seeds I popped to find some good outdoor phenos. Got facewreck from rare dankness, Querkle from TGA, Master Kush, and a few new clones blue dream, deathstar, and northern lights. Just have to sex em, label the phenos and flower em out to find good moms. Probably wont have that ready for the light dep. Just run clones for that.

The last photo is the 18 indoor flowers test room with hong kong, skywalker og, mobb boss, flow, p funk. Cant wait to take a break from indoor and get some of these new strains going outside:D
