I'm a product of the early 60s, and have been smoking for over 40 years, and growing about 30 of them. I started growing for real in 1993 with a 48 square foot ebb and flow table with 2 x 1 KW HPS lights on a rotating setup, with C02 injection, and timers for flooding the table, exhausting the air, and for Co2 injection.
I was planting newly rooted clones in Rockwool cubes packed 9 per square foot. I would flower them, immediately, and I was getting around 10 grams per plant when growing an Indica - much less when growing sativa.
I switched to outdoor, and just last year I grew 3 plants that were 3 pounds or over, and one that was over a pound, so I ended up with 10 pounds of dried manicured bud from 4 plants, grown in Eastern Ontario. I don't think the lawmakers were thinking an average of 2.5 pounds per plant when they set the 4 plant limit. :D
My present project (Spring 2020) is a SWC (shallow water culture) setup I'm developing: I'm planning on growing my plants in just 3 inches of water that is continuously being replenished from a 55 gallon tank below it. It's essentially a big bubble cloner with the plants spaced every 4 inches (just like my ebb and flow table from the 90s). I'll be doing the same no-veg style growing.
