I was looking for a grow diary that used the company nutes in an undercurrent system. I would contact the manufacturer with questions regarding their nutes just to see how their customer service works.

You're making me feel so incredibly slow here, how I haven't already thought of these ideas before. Check is in the mail. Thank you so much.

I'd be glad to share my expense report with you, just PM me. By the way, I should mention the grow is actually going north to 15k by the time it's done with, but I've thus far thrown down 10k. *also important, I would be loony if I tried to do this all on my own from the get go, that was not the idea. Originally I had a grower hired to run the whole job, and I was just the finances behind everything. About 2 weeks into the grow, and after helping construct the entire room, he bailed out of the blue - so now this is me running what was originally supposed to be 'his' room without him, hence my reaching out for help on this forum.

Wow thats nuts and sorry that happend it sucks when crap like that happens in the community because it makes others wiry of business because of a few shady people. Thanks for the info btw I am now partner less also so I will be scaling way way down but still want to harvest 10lb or so before you break out into laughter I know this is a bad day for most but its all I need 10lbs would be a super bowl for me so its peace :-)

*Just an update w/ some pics*

I've made several changes to the room, and got my high res camera out to document the update.

Change log:
-Added (2) 8" ice boxes. They "Y" off of my new intake, a 10" fan. Running them off a 1/2hp chiller, and it's keeping the room plenty cold enough running the (4) corner lights.

-Removed the center row of lights to avoid over kill on the room, and use them on a different project to get more bang for buck.

-Redid the entire ducting & air flow. I now have (2) 8" fans exhausting out of the house, (1) 10" fan blowing into the room, passing through the (2) 8" ice boxes, & added additional wall fans.

-Reorganized the rows in between the buckets so I can put in 30~ 10 gallon soil plants, trying to maximize my use of the room, and all of the empty space. Is this a good idea? Remember, I don't know shit about growing.

-Am running 100% cultures solutions nutrients. My nutrients are as follows: Veg A&B, UC roots, Cal Mag. Nothing more. No H2O2.

Air temp is staying around 75 degrees in its' hottest time, still only running my (4) 1000w corner lights, not all 6 yet because I've been told the plants can't take it this young.

Plants are standing 13" tall, and still have not really "rooted" into the buckets, though it is obvious they are growing consistently. I guess I just need to be patient? Next cycleI plan on getting the plants rooted prior to putting them into the UC system, rather than throwing in baby clones right into the system. Perhaps get them rooted in a flood & drain before planting? I'm new to this, don't hate if this sounds retarded.

You might want to top those soon to get the side branches to catch up so you can get a more even canopy with more tops. More tops means a better yield IME You may also want to consider tomato cages or a trellising system for support into flower as they will most likely need it. Good luck with the grow man!

Just topped them today :). And, I will be def using cages for them when they get big enough to need it! Still browsing the most cost effective idea. Cultures solutions sells cages to fit their buckets, but at a price..

Many things can be found at Home Depot or Lowes for 1/2 the price of a hydro shop. Thats where I get my bamboo stakes and tom cages.

Harbor freight sells better small pumps for 1/3 the price of my local shops.

Arts and craft store pipe cleaners and 99 cent store rolls of bread ties to tie the girls to the cage.

Point being, you dont have to buy everything from a shop.

Looking real good so far. Congrats on having the testicular fortitude to take this on.

I would start the clones in a similar type system for the first 4 weeks so when you bring them into the big room they are a couple of feet tall already. Use the same size baskets so you wont have to transplant and cause root issues. Im going to watch your grow carefully, good luck

Will be following you closely bro... Considering the same set up, but I going to use solar storm 880 LED's..... 2 questions first are you completely able to control the odor outside the room and what are the dimension of the room????

AWESOME grow setup so far majr. I really loved running my RDWC system and cannot wait to see this one along. Compliments on the cleanliness, often an underestimated key to a quality grow! Ill be watching this one.

nice setup, i was wondering if you have any pics of your 250gal resz? could you explain how their setup? do you run both 250gal res at the same time with the chill king? do you have pics? im doing a similar grow op with 2 250gal rez each one topping off a 50gal rez like yours but i haven't figured out a way to connect the 250gal rez to the 50gal. do you use a pump?

Looks great. Next time you can shove all of those net pots onto a flood and drain table and do ebb-flow until they are bigger. You'd use less light and create more uniform growth - you want to start with 1-2' bushes for this type of growing style.

All in all you're doing an awesome job.

What happend to this thread? Dudes last post was over a year ago.

Don't know, wish Majr would chime in and let us all know how this turned out, and if the same system is still in use or has it been optimized since?

Your set up looks and sounds a great deal like mine, right down to the number and type of hoods, the number of sites, and the 2 ton chillking chiller.

You have enough chiller capacity to cool your room without AC; use 8" Ice boxes and fans to blow room air through them! Set your chiller to run at 52-55 with a rise of 8 degrees to start. The reason to do this is simple; saving about 50% on your overall cooling costs.

You will have problems with the plastic on the floor. You will walk on it and make holes that will inevitably leak and then won't dry up.

Get beneficial bacteria (like Capulator's OG biowar line) and run them in your RDWC; between this and keeping your water temps down, you will have zero problems with root rot. Ignore everyone who tells you to run sterile with bleach, h2o2 (peroxide), or 'zone'; it's a losing battle that is totally unnecessary and a ton of extra work besides.

I run the bennies approach, and I do my between runs cleaning as follows; I flush and fill twice with tap water, using my house to blast out all my pipes between sites. While I flush, I use a toilet brush to clean up any built up gunk. I then fill, add nutes and fresh plants. THAT'S IT-I do NOT disassemble my system, I do NOT sterilize the crap out of anything. I also do NOT have one thing go wrong with my RDWC, lol. It's actually been more reliable for me than soil or soilless mixes!

I built my own RDWC, and built a top feed irrigation system to drizzle RDWC water through my net pots, which are full of 50/50 coco/hydroton chow mix. This solves many, many problems with RDWC systems and should be easy to retrofit onto an Undercurrent. Highly recommend you do this to reduce all sorts of brain damage issues with RDWC type systems.

All of Texas Kid's suggestions should be taken for gospel, including finding better nutes.
OKAY..FIRST OFF! TOTALLY JEALOUS BUT Next point is this. If I'm running 8 1k lights with (3) 6 inch exhaust fans and one 8 inch can fan, cant seem to cool roomenough bc the co2 burner is running constantly! Trying to keep at 1400 bc 15 is damn near impossible. Wanted to knkw using this chill king and iceboxes are also useful for a skinny water system with slabs of RW? TRYING TO SETUP MY RETURN TO NOT HAVE SO MUCH LEAKAGE BUT THIS ARTICLE CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. If i can use these i knkw it would give my ac a break which is running abt 11 hours of the 12.. THIS SUCKS! Any questions or feedback is appreciated very much! THanks for reading

Okay. I understand this thread is old now, but I can't help but wonder why no one told you that 6000 watts isn't enough for 28 13 gallon under current growth mods. I have 10,000K over 24 8 gallon spots. I also don't understand why you would remove growth mods and replace them with potted plants. you're investment was substantul. It ensured regulated nute distribution al well as temp and PH consistancy. Adding potted plants you now have to implement a seperate feeding and care program. It's like getting the latest smartphone and using your old land line instead. You'll see much quicker growth in the hydro units while using half the amount of nutes you'll need in soil. I'm sure by now you realize all this. It just bothered me that with all the info people gave you non of them addressed the issue with light coverage. 6K will cover 90 to 100 square feet tops. I'd love to hear a current set up

This thread is 3 years old, but I wish the op would come back and give us an update. I'm considering similar setup with two 36 pod systems in two separate grow rooms and trying to make some decisions regarding their 8 gal vs 13 gal models and etc. I also wondered about the lights, as I plan on using 18 HPS 1,000 in each room (two plants per light..) I can't believe he was only using 6 on 24 pots, I would've double the light.. I know a guy (yeah I know, everyone knows a guy) that gets 1 to 2 lbs per plant consistently out of the 8 gal UC system using the two plants pre light formula...

i known you can grow 8 gal plants in 13 gal modules

but you cant grow 13 gal plants in 8 gal containers

I agree, that's usually my thinking, go big or go home, so you don't regret it later. However, I've gotten advice from someone who owns the 8 gal system and grows trees out of it that with the regular 5 to 8 week veg time you simply cannot grow any bigger plants in 13 gal vs 8 gal. So it seems that the only benefit you get is if you decided to veg for longer in order to get the full benefit of the extra root space. Also root systems in hydro don't really need as large space as roots in dirt, so I wonder if it isn't overkill. They can only take so much nutrients in, so if you veg for 4-5 weeks and then flower them, I wonder if there would be any difference if you did side by side of 8 gal vs 13 gal plants...
