A little confused, what part of that is Kush valley derived?

It's mostly afghan surely?

Sounds nice though :)

Thanks MtGrownCanna, that's a pretty spot on answer. Between the afgan in the Aurora F1 and the Afgan in the skunk part of the Cherry Berry (which is a very stable, very indica plant) the resulting pheno type i picked was very short squat and combined very nicely the cherry and what I would describe as an earthy, candy, coffee and earth fruit kinda smell and taste. Remember when working with F1's that they are able to produce plants similar to either of their parents or a completely new genome, (i think thats the right use of the word).

There are numerous valley's (they obviously run alongside the mountain range) but the region is very much more extensive;

The Hindukush Mountains like the Himalaya are being fashioned before one’s very eyes. The numerous peaks, 200 of them rising above 6000m and a number over 7000m dominated by Tirich Mir at 7708m are ever thrusting upward 4 to 5 inches, each year. Only to be eroded by almost the same measurement and how spectacular this erosion can be, for this is a region of earthquakes, landslides and floods, a perpetual battleground where whole hillsides collapse overnight and fast-flowing rivers are forever carving out new gorges among the massifs.
The Hindu Kush range, marks the watershed between the valleys draining the Amu “Oxus river “ in Pamirs at the roof of the world and the “ Indus river “ basin draining into the Arabian sea. This mountain range with its numerous valleys can be divided into three separate regions .
The eastern region extends from Wakhjir pass 4,907m in the little Pamir to Dorah pass 4,510m, a distance of about 320 km stretching along the China , Pakistan and Afghan frontier.

The second region stretches beyond Dorah pass and lies in Afghanistan with the major peaks in Badkhashan and Nuristan..

The third region the Hindu Raj or the Thui range lies entirely in Pakistan stretching 240km along Swat and Kohistan valley.

The Hindu Kush is also known as Pāriyātra Parvata or Paropamisadae

Quote from a high times article to clarify.
Origins of the Kush
The disputed region known as the Hindu Kush shares its boundaries with Pakistan and Afghanistan just north of Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir. The area has long been known for its ongoing conflicts as well as its history of cannabis and hashish production. Part of the legendary Himalayas mountain range, the fertile valleys and hillsides of the Hindu Kush have, for centuries, produced the world’s finest hash. Years of natural and human selection for the most resinous, indica-dominant plants have resulted in short, stocky bushes covered with huge, shiny trichomes.

'Ken from Sensi Seeds calls their Hindu Kush “a classic, definitive indica sometimes referred to as ‘Afghanica,’with the characteristic wide, dark green leaves and strong branching that make it an excellent building block for serious and hobbyist breeders.” Indeed, cannabis botanists worldwide use a Sensi Seeds Hindu Kush male in their programs for stability. It also makes terrific hash with an old-school scent and flavor.

Thank you Kebz.. Unfortunately kush is synonymous with OG in too many circles. I think first, they were all just called indicas. Then some breeder was like, "let's get regional and name it Hindu Kush or Chitral Kush instead of Afghan Indica." I think now, there is a strain name for every major city in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Every "kush" is an "indica". Just like every other industry, this one needs new marketing terms to sell things too. That's my take..

Hey MtGrownCanna, I think your right in your summarisation. And unfortunately t'is true that the horticultural green fingered past time which we love, and which fills otherwise dull and mundane hours, has become a majorly successful money making commercial industry. So many products and their always new, improved and the best. The same thing seems to be happening with strains - lots of promotion and very little actual information. The marketing confuses terms to cash in, regardless of the accuracy or appropriateness of the strain name or information provided.

I've had to learn a lot of things the hard way, listening to the hype before doing the research, wasting whole cycles on strains not worth the time invested. I've spent years offline and without a mentor making too many mistakes. Its why I have a lot of time and respect for THCFarmer, its a good place to learn from the breeders, farmers and potheads who know the strains best ;)

What about the feminized seed culture we live in? I think our laziness sometimes gets the best of the best of us.. Do fem'd seeds play a role in destroying mj as we know it? Will all strains throw nanners 30 or 40 years from now?

Made some crosses with cannarado's Alien Double Dawg (Chemdog #4 x Aliendawg f3). I found a really good male that a tested indoors & out for atleast seven months before my homie leaf used him on his harem! Here's what he brought by

Summer 2013 162

There weren't enough OG #18, Holy Grail Kush, Goji OG, Headlock, #6, or Kushplant to give me but it's all good because he gave out a ton of (5) seed packs as gifts at different dispensaries around the area on 4/20 ....I got my eye on poppin the SFV, Aliendawg f1, Grape Stomper, and Stardawg!!!

I'm surely no "breeder"....and these are strictly for personal use and for gifting to friends......so I thought I'd pop up a few pics of a few things I've been making here @ the Ranch with a little help from some STS.... (sorry about the retriever hairs....the tent is in the same room the dogs sleep in..LOL.) Not gonna be tons of seeds, but certainly enough to play with for a few years at the new digs/Ranch.

Sky's Blueberry clone x Dr. G's Sour 13 fems (this should be a serious flavor treat)
Nono 002 1368x1824

Sky's Blueberry clone x Conni's "Lem Chem". Again...could be a seriously good combo here. The Lem chem is very Old school/Affie-like and >very< dense.....and the BB is the most berry tastin strain I've ever smoked...with it's only flaw (IMO) being it is hard to get dense nugs on a consistent basis.

Nono 004 1824x1367

And the focus of the project.....the BB clone. After 4 years of growing her and nearly losing her once before.... I decided about a year ago that needed to preserve this little flavor monster outside the "clone-only" status she currently holds....and I tried 2X before this to make it happen with no success. This go around I feel seeds....but have yet to dig into the bud to see if they are fully formed or false pods/immature....as has happened previously. Like I say...i'm not a breeder....so all i can think of is that this follows other strains in DJ's line that are "sterile"...such as "Flodica"...which is another plant I tried to preserve years ago with no success and then read DJ say himself that it was unlikely I would ever see pollen from her. I let her go 14 weeks....(10 from pollenation) to give her as much time as possible to get with it...so..um...FINGERS CROSSED...... dammit.

And here are the results from a few other reversals I've done. A few of these will be very fine...a few...very interesting....

Gotta few more things in mind to knack in the future. With the new laws/scrutiny on the mail here (got a package nabbed for the first time in 20+ years a few months ago)...it's time to preserve for the future and find self-sufficiency....and to have fun stuff to offer to others who also have fun stuff to offer.... or....better yet.....to peeps who have nothing at all.

love to all you chucker fuckers.

just warning people who don't know .. but any seeds that aren't a dark brown.. basicly any white seeds and green seeds are more then likely not going to be any good.. not to mention.. they can cause ur seeds to mold. have had it happen before.. I was using Vials.. had it happen.. then switched to plastic bags.. had it happen.. then stopped keeping any seeds that aren't brown / tiger striped and have to pass the press test between fingers.. honestly. its better to be safe then sorry .. believe me. I lost about 600 seeds to mold .. of a great deadhead og kush fem cross to skunk 1 x O haze.. was very mad..

but now I use rice to help absorb any extra moisture that can cause mold. usually double the amount of rice then seed.
