So what is the point of these 400v bulbs, Tty? What benefits do they impart compared to it's disadvantages?
Better spectrum, more lumens/umol for the same watts, much longer lasting bulbs.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

I'm not super familiar with the Greenpower bulbs, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but higher initial cost, can't be hung vertically, and no remote ballasts would be some disadvantages.

1. Cost competitive with buying a conventional high end ballast, bulb and fixture

2. Only the thouies can't be hung vertically; the 600W is single ended and screws into a standard mogul socket

3. Remote ballasts ARE available

I'm suddenly wondering why I couldn't buy a remote 400V ballast, two 600W bulbs- and a splitter. The ballasts overboosts to 1150W, so that's close enough to 600W x2 not to make much difference, if any.

Good to know, I was under the impression the only fixtures for the double-ended bulbs were built-in ballasts, but I'll admit I've haven't paid much attention to the threads on them since I haven't been in the market for lighting since they started getting known around the boards.

If the ballast can start two 600's ok that would be an interesting setup.

When everyone keeps talking about "vertical"... Could someone please take the time to explain what this means exactly??? Are the hoods being mounted on the wall, or is the build being just hung from the ceiling without any hood at all??? Or is it something different??? What is being done? What is the goal? Does it change the way I need to do anything with the plants themselves? I was told to top in veg. and do LST in flower.

Also, When people are using "mh" and "HPS" at the same time, is that for veg. and flower??? I tried to read a few posts a few times, but I was still not 100% clear. I was told "mh" during flower would make things very lanky and stretchy? Are people having different results? Is a split 600mh, 600HPS, going to compete with a 1000W HPS???

Sorry this is not directly related to the product. I am going to buy a matrix model, and my research landed me in this great forum!!!

Thanks.

Vert or Vertical is just hanging a bulb vertically like a pendant light from the ceiling, you dont use any hood just a mogul socket and a bulb, this allows you to get 360 degrees of light all around the bulb.
picture.php

This is just one example of a vert room. You can use mh/hps sodium mixed in flower if you like, many do,i think you should try a little of everything and see what works for you.

See you still have your plants on the floor in soil. That makes me smile.
I want to try this vertical method. I still have a few questions.
Do you have plants that are hanging up in this picture??
Also, is that empty space all going to be filled up in 8 weeks?
If so, will you still back branch etc??
How long have you begged these out for?
Most important, where I have circled;
are those canopy's from plants in soil that are hanging off the wall, or something like that???

Edit

Thanks...
