Worked for United airlines for 22 years, r. Back then excellent job, great benefits and pay.
I could honestly say I got high on the job everyday. Very few times did I not fire up.
started right out of high school. also being alcoholic drank on the job as well....
Was a parts cleaner in plane overhaul the 1st time they fired me for tilting back in the parking lot on midnight shift.
Went out at lunch as usual for a few beers and security observed me via closed circuit TV tilting my head back several times.
upon further investigation they found 5 16 ounce empty Coors cans in the back of my pickup and a cooler with 1 full beer.
Was called in to an investigation, denied drinking beer said it was mountain dew...
Few days later fired...Was a union job so they handled it and we wound up 16 months later going to the National labor board for arbitration and I won my job back with regular pay plus a % of overtime, full vacation, which I worked 2 days, phoned in sick 1 day then 1 month off paid vacation and just so happened my good friend who a studied all about Egypt, spoke Arabic, had a trip planned and off we went tons of cash and had a blast. climbed the great pyramid on acid and watched the sun rise....
Moved to Denver worked there, swing shift, everyday 1/2 hour into shift it was cocktail hour at U nited airlines. We would rob the liquor cabinets on plane and set up a full bar and drink and smoke the shift away, lots of crazy shit was done...
Got fired 4 or 5 times again, rehired with back pay about 1/2 the time, just deny accusations...I did not do that.. or it was like that when I got there...
Finally fired me for attendance, probably could have appealed and got job back but it was time to say adios..
Was so drunk once , threw up in a passengers lap in first class on a overnight flight, had been eating raw oysters, clams, shrimp, white Russians and Heineken the stew said she served me 17 drinks, go figure....
My father was a founder with the company worked there 45 years in management but he was a good man who sided with the regular joe's so the union and company had respect so I got away with a lot of shit...
