Nice rides you guys. I was a big motor head once about 45 years ago. Mostly ran Pontiac's since I worked at a Pontiac Garage. Ended up working for Quality Chevrolet but already had the GTO Built. Went through ring gear's like candy until I put a 55 Olds in. Started bending intake valves if I crossed the finish line at or over 6,300 rpm. Car ran in the low 12's.....bad as on the street.

Doc and boo, two bomb yellow rides. Luv `em. Make me jealous and wish to hell that I never sold what I had.
My high school graduation present was a 1958 Chevy Impala 2 door hardtop, black in color. This is what I saw as my dad took me to look at it. I thought nice, looked inside, three on the tree, ok then. Pop the hood and holy shit, a 348 cubic inch engine with 3 deuces, factory muscle car of its day. Had another Chevy hot rod of it`s day, a black `57 2 door hardtop. It had a high performance 283, with 2, 4 barrels stock from the factory. Sure wish I had that `57 now. Guy I sold it to, totaled it 2 weeks later.

Gotta finish up what I got growin` now, then it`s deer season till Christmas. Any maintenance gets done, then we germ some seeds. T.E. will be on the list.

sure is keef, can hardly use it without slicks as the street tires just boil...but boiling the tires is fun and that's what hot rods are for...that yellow one is more of a shrine...L-89 numbers matching...rotisserie restoration...it's worth more than many homes...

this is my street beater...

Couple of questions Doc.....You were running 8's with a pick up. How did you keep that light rear end on the ground when you launched?

If I remember correctly and maybe I don't my cam had a 550 lift and a 330 duration and I kept bending intake valves....Question did you have special pistons to allow for the additional lift.

And finally, I had a 430 gear and had to go to a 33" tall slick to keep from red lining at the finish, 6300. Dam dude.....538 and 7600 out of a big block. Whew! Bet you were checking those mains every week.

actually motor stayed together rather well was valve springs issues and floating with that much lift and duration engine built up no vacuum she idled at 3000 rpm sounded like a top fueler lol as for hooking up was 4 link rear end wheelie bars and after some adjusting i got her to shoot in a straight line that thing pulled hard stupid hard and even up to 7600 rpm power glide it was insane to put it mildly i went through 1/4 tank of gas in 2 blocks 160 psi oil pressure i remember priming engine and forgot to seal the oil sending unit on manifold turned engine over to fire up hahaha not shitting you piss stream of oil 40 feet straight up in the air oh god what a mess it was i have pictures but on old film this was years ago 30 some years ago i need to get it somehow on pc lol she hooked up rather fine once slicks were hot

Sounds like a beast my friend. My drag racing days are long over. Nothing more than a distant memory. Do love talking about the old days though. To fricken much $$$ now days. Better spent on other things now days. Never saw a drag racer, without major sponsors, have more than $50 in his pocket. The rest went into the car.

Nice pic Boo.

It`s the weedend in Curmudgeonland. Good morning OFC, hope the sun shines on the right side of ya this morning. Meanwhile, get a cup of coffee in one hand and a bowl of medicinal herb in the other and we will have a session of "wake and bake". Let`s do it, join me.
