I was a big motor head once about 45 years ago. Mostly ran Pontiac's since I worked at a Pontiac Garage. Ended up working for Quality Chevrolet but already had the GTO Built. Went through ring gear's like candy until I put a 55 Olds in. Started bending intake valves if I crossed the finish line at or over 6,300 rpm. Car ran in the low 12's.....bad as on the street.
Boo that a Nitros bottle in the back right? Yoop - I hope U run that Tranquil Elephantizer soon she a beast !-- The seed from that T.E. - Widow cross may be hard to germ use your best technique!-- it'll be worth it !

actually motor stayed together rather well was valve springs issues and floating with that much lift and duration engine built up no vacuum she idled at 3000 rpm sounded like a top fueler lol as for hooking up was 4 link rear end wheelie bars and after some adjusting i got her to shoot in a straight line that thing pulled hard stupid hard and even up to 7600 rpm power glide it was insane to put it mildly i went through 1/4 tank of gas in 2 blocks 160 psi oil pressure i remember priming engine and forgot to seal the oil sending unit on manifold turned engine over to fire up hahaha not shitting you piss stream of oil 40 feet straight up in the air oh god what a mess it was i have pictures but on old film this was years ago 30 some years ago i need to get it somehow on pc lol she hooked up rather fine once slicks were hotCouple of questions Doc.....You were running 8's with a pick up. How did you keep that light rear end on the ground when you launched?
If I remember correctly and maybe I don't my cam had a 550 lift and a 330 duration and I kept bending intake valves....Question did you have special pistons to allow for the additional lift.
And finally, I had a 430 gear and had to go to a 33" tall slick to keep from red lining at the finish, 6300. Dam dude.....538 and 7600 out of a big block. Whew! Bet you were checking those mains every week.
thank you i had small sponsors penzoil lube station which wanted tons of penzoil stickers on truck as it was yellow also all they gave me was oil n filters etc cheap fckers lol
i called truck the yellow nuclear banana lol
and a tranny shop that rebuilt my trannys and supplied me with convertors other then that was friends at race track swapping parts to keep everyone going and of course lots of money out of your own pocket
sure was fun drunk days back then sure miss the parties after words in the pits and bone fires late at night etc sometimes it would be cool to just turn back time even if it was just for a day
