they are all at 10hrs on because i have some hard to keep from bolting sativas in the room
i think the buds all would be bigger..normally i do12 hrs but they were all done like that this time..

But i added up the cost to put together a 4×4 cob setup everything i would need would cost over 1000. Where is the savings? I dont care what u say about the sk and i have a light meter. It it brighter than a gavita.
If you want to learn...then open your eyes, learn, and research.

SK gives you 400w...so show me where it cost you over 1000$ for a 400w cob panel build???

Now the real story for the actual listeners who want 2 times a SK for less than the SK in the first place...

total of $1026...for literally more than 2 SK's worth of light.
And many of that can be found for less than I listed...all on the safe/expensive side of the estimate. Sinks are the only thing that might add up some additional shipping charges(~45$ for 3 sinks) so still under 1100 worst case scenario.
AGAIN...THIS IS TO BUILD A LIGHT THAT IS 2X AS POWERFUL(800w), as an SK. and being 25-35% more efficient too...so even 2 sk's isn't enough to compete.

those are PLC I believe....super badass....I was just watching that dudes chanel last night.....those are already in production yes but they are the 3070 I believe the 3590's will be coming out this year...I am def gonna get one ....he and growmou5 know what they are doing...IMO

Yep, PLC. They been in production, not a new light. 3070 and 3590 is why I showed a range for the cxb builds for each chip respectively. 3070's are still far more efficient than anything in the market. Only a 3-8% increase per watt that tested to go 3590. And per current is basically moot because of the slight voltage difference making different wattages per current, and in the end get the same output per current. With just a 5-10w difference in total pull based on build size. Cost of all components associated with the 3070 are cheaper than 3590, saving even more on the build throughout for many people.

I was aggravated. No offence . to trolls just growers. I guess we had some misunderstandings. I can admit if im wrong. But i stick with it sk rocks.

Im sorry but with the parts u quoted that would rock a 4×4 but 2 sk will rock a 4×8. I know this im doing it

listening to greengene he actually has stated that 3590 were much better and that the only reason the 70's were used in the panel was because that was what the panel was built around and the production was through when the 3590's were available..he stated that this years it will be upgraded to 3590's and both he and growmou5 believe the 70's will be fazed out of production from cree with how much more effecient the 3590's are
you said not a new light????
less then a year old to me is pretty new no??

Trust me im with the diy lights they are badass. And i plan on doing my own diy very soon. As soon ad i gather the parts

And you can break it up into 2 400w's...or 3 250w's...or 12 62w spots...however you want to that is the whole point!!! the amount of light per watt is 30% more than an SK. What do you not get? Stop staring into the SK.

The CX300 was developed before the cxb line was ever out. Which was before 3590's were superior to 3070's(no top bin 3590 cxA's ever available, just datasheet legends).
Shortly after the cx300 was into production the CXB came out...obviously going to use them...so the cxb 3070 went in before most went out and have upgraded the few that were cxa's for free. With the cxb came top bin 3590's as well as a bin boost that pre-cxb was only available in 4K and above, but now 3500K had it and that is how it got to be the go to.
I've tested the 3590 and 3070...on their own and in identical builds. I've said better, cause they are like I already showed above, but not way better and have their downsides too. Plus because of what I already said in the last post about voltage diffs...comes to a basically moot point for system output, with cost favoring the 3070. For the person that wants the best possible light no questions asked on a DIY scale...3590. But for a cost effective, high performance production panel, you need to think about everything and the best one component doesn't always make the best end system.
But with some time, investment, and innovation...it's happening.

Do you plan to ever make any larger footprint panels?everything i see is like 2 ft x 2 ft but it would seem with these chips if you made a 4 x 4 or 5 x 5 panel it would blow away any hid as far as footprint goes.i know it must have to do with larger heatsinks and there costs?

2 300w units with 50w cobs...or 1 600w unit with 50w cobs...absolutely zero difference in light output. If I took 2 300 units and welded them...they suddenly become a big more powerful light than 2 300w'ers...no. Light is cumulative and putting more light in the same area is just that...adding light, however you accomplish it.
There are ways to design to maximize spread/use of light. But is also why the cx300 is so much physically bigger( than any other light it's size/wattage...to spread all the light.
To your point of making a bigger unit...actually the opposite has been happening. Onto the next improvement/design that will be out down the line after the certs are finished and can go where intended...fully commercially regulated facilities on any scale. Modular/scalable lights. They layout more commercial sizes, 4 to 6 foot wide tables by as long as needed. But the results are not majorly different, a few percent increase in efficiency...mostly just better fit for commercial and highly certified.

The idea of the "lights wattage" with led's is like the CMH debate for many who don't realize light is cumulative. People don't like 315 cmh cause it's "too small" but will get the 630 cause it's "bigger"...same lights, and the 315's use a better bulb orientation and can spread more if one wanted too.

oh and I was just looking up the 3590 and cree states that it runs at a solid state 13,200 lm ....I know you dont like to measure in lm but for anyone running HPS....one COB running 13,00 lm and you are gonna be running say 8 at close to 60% efficient....to me....is insane

Im not staring into sk they just work well for me. Im bout to build a badass cob unit.

i think he just means they aint as efficient as the cob.he did do a big post with math and everything for us,did you skip the hard stuff lol
