Platanos,gijanero,and yuca are gwajod into a mush which is placed into a banana leaf.. meats with the pr flavor called sofrito is put on top,banana leaf sealed,boiled in saltwater fir hour it hardens up but is soft..Ad hot sauce and run!!
Because by then every puerto rican in a 3 mile radius has sniffed u out,grabbed a knife,and coming for your pasteles! !

Puerto ricans are a big mix bro..Indians were on the island then Spain colonised. Then england/Europe began coming to America they colonised to .then the slave trade brought africans.
Fast forward several 100 years puerto ricans are all mixed from pale white to the darkest of black and all in between..my family is the spain line so I am really light skinned to..

My Grandma used to make that been a long time though would stuff the Tripas with whatever and cook it shit was killer, miss the old Matanza's been a while since we had one!
