That's what I want to hear. I can usually google better than this, but I'm just not finding the "so what" if I flip into, but then back out of, flower. No way does every outdoor grower in Oregon need to struggle like this (?)

All you need to do to keep them from flowering is interrupt the dark phase. Then, when you're ready to let them flower, stop interrupting the dark phase. You would literally need a computer-controlled set of lights to do what you want to otherwise.

If you drop the daylight lighting phase by as much as one hour right now, they're going to flower. Try it with one or two of them. JUST interrupt the dark phase, you'll keep them vegging. 1-2hrs is sufficient.

Read my thread "Why are my leaves growing three fingers? Let me tell you why" and you'll learn what will happen if you just change to that photoperiod. Or, just do it and see how it goes. Then read the thread to figure out where to go from that point on. :)

Can plants that are cross bred with rudi strains throw three finger leaves because of rudi genetics?

I think ppl are confused here he isn't reveging he got fresh clones which were under 24 hr lights he's just asking if he can change gradually from 24 to 20/4 to 18/6 and eventually 15/7 and throw them out at the right time of year?

I am so confused. Sorry. All the clones I can find are 24hr. I need to go outside by June. What can I do to have a normal harvest? >>> My latest idea is to set my lights 14.5, and then re-clone from the original clones so the new clones will have been used to 14.5 starting in April. >>> I realize I've been asking the wrong questions, but is every outdoor guy in S. Oregon screwed?

If you want to do it that way, keep your bought clones going 24 hours so they don't flip, then when you take cuts start them on the schedule you want.

okay @tj Wise. This really isn't that complicated. You buy clones. It doesn't matter if they were on 24 hours of light or 18 hours of light with six hours of darkness. You transplant your clones into a small sized pot. (I recommend one gallon pots with very fluffy soil. Ocean forest by fox farm is pretty good stuff. )You hang a T5 light or a shop light with two florescent bulbs above them and have your timer set so that the light comes on at midnight And goes off after the sun comes up at around 7 am or so. Your plants are getting 18 hours of light and aren't going to flower on you. In a couple weeks when the plants are growing you can start subtracting about 15 minutes or so every couple days until you get to May 20 th when you can put your plants in there big pots without flowering.

You should build a small hoop house so on the sunny days your plants get good sunshine all day and start getting acclimated to the weather. If the weather gets bad you can always throw a small heater in there.

MendoGiantZ, THANKS! I clearly confused everyone, my bad. That dounds so reasonable.

BTW: In May I move to my barn with shelter + a thermostat, and I pull the wagons out into the sun every day for longer and longer periods.

barns and wagons. ??? Your kinda a confusing person. :). If You already have the clones where are you going to put the plants until May??? Why are you going to put the plants in a barn and not outside where they belong???

He Vegs in the barn alright final post for me.
Plants flower 12 and 12 so keep your plants above that till you plan on putting them out around June and then your golden. Sea kinda jumped the gun and moved it to a reveging issue. When in fact we're just trying to teach the absolute basics. If you have any other questions use the search bar first cause there is a lot of basic stuff on there that will be helpful.

You could take the lantern to the barn around midnight every night and hang it above the plants. If the lantern was full it should burn long enough to keep them from flowering before it runs out of kerosene. Bonus, co2 emitted from lantern.
If you have multiple wagons just get more lanterns.

(1) I apologize for having been unclear; my bad.
(2) There assorted details that just seemed distracting, for example: I have been buying clones but I have more to get. Unless I clone the clones.
(3) I have them upstairs for now so I can more easily tend to them, and its really cold in the barn. In mid April it will be warmer, so I'll move them to the barn where I can have enough heat, and where I can easily schlep them into the sun. Upstairs they get morning sun through the window, if that matters.
(4) Most of my dates might change if a cold wave is predicted.
(5) I don't have all the cash I need right now, that also affects my plans.
(6) They will go outside as soon as its safe. I'm going to use 100 gallon cloth bags, and being up a little avoids the ground chill. They be very, very "hardened" by May.
(7) I love learning the basics; THANKS! I'm not always an idiot, I program computers easily enough. But some things confuse me. I took in a lot of data but I was missing the "why" and "why not" and "so what" aspects. I did search and I did google -- I just wasn't able to fit all the pieces together.
