Here is my very recent experience with auto's, soil, and lights. My first try was with a White Widow and a ChemBubbly. I used a very basic soil from home depot. Very little nutrients. No bacteria. 1 200w LED and 1 350w purplish light. These are the plants at 4 weeks.

I harvested the Chem at 9 weeks. This was it's size.

I hope this is not hijacking and I'm getting to the point now. My second go around with both auto's, same strains, I used FFOF and I prepped the soil with Great White Mycorrhizae, some humic, some fulvic, yucca, and a little chitosan. I did a slurry before I dropped the sprouts in and PH'd at 6.8 with a pre-planting flush. I used larger softpots. I changed the light to 1 400w SpectrumKing. I turned the heat mat up to 77degrees from 70degrees. Here they are at 4 weeks.

Top Left is the Chembubbly. Far right is the White Widow. Tall middle is a Super Auto Male. I think the difference is significant. My light is placed about 9" from the top of the Super. I did a first "feed" with NPK 3 days ago. I'm still a newb grower so my understanding of the cause of the changes isn't overly deep but I thought this example of timed photo's might be helpful. Sorry for the length and I hope I stayed within the etiquette rules for the site!

I put my arm under the light and its not hot. Maybe I should put my lights closer, but I had them 18 inches from the tops. I haven't added anything to them. I'm going organic and have not given them nutes. My ph of the water is 6.0 to 6.5. The temp in the closet is 75 and the humidity is 60. On the runoff of the water the ph is about the same. I've use this light on other plants and no problems, but those were in 2 gallon pots. I tried 1 gallon pots to see if it would keep the plants short, but oops there it is!!! lolol
Ok I went and did it, I supercropped my plant. Now its time to keep my fingers crossed. Live and learn.. lolol View attachment 671539

Please don't super-crop your autos. It seems that you enjoy growing them and it's bad practice to supercrop an auto flower strain. It's stressful for your plant hence HST Hight stress straining. Your plants probably didn't have enough dirt in them and became hungry. You were in twice the amount of medium witch meant twice the amount of nutrients were in there your earlier runs. Prob light distance ought to remain where it was before on your successful runs @ 18". Know it's an old post but I had to chime in bc I believe this will help you. Good luck :) I'm not trying to offend anyone. I know you did this out of necessity.

Not offended at all!!! About the supercropping, believe me I'll never do that again to an auto. You are correct there. I'm going back to just 2 plants and put them in three gallon pots. There's where I have had the best luck. I tried 2 gallon pots and got good results but not like the 3 gallon pots. So I became the dumb ass and tried 1 gallon pots to see if they would stay small. Like I said LIVE & LEARN!!! Everybody here on the farm has been a great help. I give props to all that helped me. Peace Out.
