Ok so I'm doing a dop fed DWC everyone says I need the water level to the roots or below the net pot. No one is saying why the levels should be where they are. My thought would be that I can keep them as low as my top fed pump can suck would save me on water nutes and also help keep the water as oxygenated as possible. PLEASE HELP!! No short answers without telling why or a good reason. Thank you

As far as the water level I try to keep mine about an inch from the bottom of the net pot so all roots have easier access to the water if they dry out to much can attract bugs like gnats they eat your roots fast.

I don't think it makes a huge difference, but I like to keep it a few inches below the netpots....I let a plant run dry recently (first in 4 years) and it was dead in less than a day so I'm erring on the high side from now on

Well homie, go make a thread in the diary section...
Actually I got you brother, im gonna move this thread for you.

I think I also answered this once by saying put it at the bottom of the net pot. In reg UC bought systems like mine, I have an inverted shot glass if you will, that I set my bare naked ass clone on, and backfill with hydroton.
Put the water level right below the crown. Over the next week or so the plant will drink the water down to right below the net pot.. Keep it there until last few weeks of flower and slowly drop it to make the plant throw more trichs and finish out.. Thats it..

Im not here to write a thesis, but you go study why that works and come back and tell me when you figure it out..

In the meantime, I suggest you follow my recommendation.

ne research and once again not a single person says why pretty simple question most answers I've gotten are the same just bc everyone else does it that way. Looking to refine

This is how I set mine 3 inch pipes with return to res so it's circulating the water allows me to use half the nutes and I go thru about 15 gallons every 3 days till week 7 then it's about 10 a day my water level is an incentive below the bottom of my net pots.

But yeah bro I get how every other DWC works I wanted to know why simple reason . Why . And then science

I got 1 extra I thru in a bubble bucket but the current plants get way bigger and are always better in my opinion.

Most of it's is just common sense water in current uses less because it's in motion and oxogenated the

Water that is just bubbled it's needs more nutes which is harder to control as well i.e. pH fluctuates a lot more then it would in a current system. Water in motion is just easier to maintain and cheaper to run and water should be an inch below net pot otherwise you risk root rot if it's above the net pot water should also be hyper airrated so bigger bubbler u can use less nutes as well.

Well guys that have a lot more money than me and you, called CURRENT CULTURE decided to become the biggest hydro dealer for professional agriculture, and tested out and built the systems, said that is the way to do it.. So me and 10 million other ppl do it that way..
My advice, email current culture and ask them for a phd answer..
In the mean time, try to remember, we dont need to reinvent the wheel, just emulate it....

why what exactly? maybe I misunderstand what your asking, besides water level? What is your focal intent with the questions?

I made my own system currents is way to expensive as for nute for what I yield 9 out of 10 people are not getting the same and I only clone 3 weeks and veg for 5 weeks where others have to stretch there's 2months my way is pretty inexpensive I started with nothing did 1 plant then paid for the other 3 buckets and built my system not I do 4 plants and hit almost 8 pds every 2 months faithfully. Just making your system a current system will make it so u use less nutes and your yields will almost double.
