I Was Thinking About Getting A 4 Pot Autopot System For My Grow Tent.

This is the one I was looking at. I think it will save me a lot of reaching to the bank of the tent to water plants. And 4 decent sized plants will fill the tent.

Do you think the system is good? OR should i look into buying all of the materials and doing it myself?

I like the no power watering idea. :)

Contents Include:
  • 4x 3.9 gallon pot
  • 4x 1Pot tray & lid
  • 1x 12 gallon reservoir, lid & ¼" top hat grommet
  • 1x ¼" filter
  • 2x ¼" cross connector
  • 4x ¼" tee connector
  • 2x ¼" inline tap
  • 4x AQUAvalve
  • 1x 13" length of ¼" pipe
  • 4x Root Control Disc black & gold

I'v never used auto pots myself but iv seen some BELTER grows that were done with auto pot.so good and fast growing it made me want to get one but I never bothered.
At the same time iv seen some people complain they over water the plants but if u grew in coco that wouldn't b a problem.

I love that autopot. They work perfect and I do not have to water as often. I top up about once a week whatever is needed (5 to 10 gallons). I will be using 1 autopot with a reservoir for a smaller tent just to see how it works :). The reservoir was only 35 bucks and I had a spare autopot kicking around.

Will be checking in periodically to see the progress. Im probably two weeks behind you on my first autopot grow.

Here are the last 2 autopot grows (pics). They work well. I love perlite and coco 50 50 in them with hydro pellets on the bottom for 2 inches.

very nice and clean. Are you putting the rez in there? I am going to try and move mine out of the tent to have more veg room for the next round in 3 weeks

Mine is on the outside of tent. Size of tent is also a 4x4

That is a way better idea. And easier to keep the res cooler out of the tent.
Yep... Just drilled a small hole in the tent and ran three tube inside the tent with the res outside. More room for plants!

Once you transplant into the autopots you still need to hand feed (top feed) until the roots grow down further into the bottom of the bucket. At that point you just fill up the reservoir with your water (nutes and proper PH) and it will gravity feed the plants from the bottom. The roots will drink up the water and when the water is gone the reservoir will gravity feed more water to the tray that your buckets are in via the valve. They have been using this system in the UK for some time now. I have done DWC and it is a pain and lots of water, harder to control PH and lots of draining.

They have a proprietary float system built into the pots so the water flow is maintained at a certain level. And it works like FarmerDi said. It is very easy to control PH in the reservoir with this system. The only addition i find critical is a small aquarium pump in the reservoir to keep it stirred up. I run mine 15 minutes out of every 2 hours on a light timer.

I am in my 3rd week of Flowering GSC with the system. My main advice is use liquid nutrients and clean Lines and valves weekly. I have had them stuck open and flood my tent. I have 3 pots going and could not have a 4th as my girls are huge. I love the gravity feed. Do not, I repeat Do not water your plants from the top after they are feeding from the roots/Pot and expelling salts, etc into the soil/medium. You can kill your plants.

Right on Groovy. To many people giving the wrong advice regarding the autopots. Give me a penny for every person that says you have to flush them from the top even though they never used an autopot.

Groovy is right. What I have learned is also.

Stick to just the trio and a cal mag that is a salt based. (I used some bud ripener and wow did that get funky).
Get that flexible rubber hose to make it work and good fittings. I used some irrigation fittings and tougher 1/4 tubing and it is such a pain to pull the lines off of the fittings.

Next round I am doing exactly what you said and cleaning lines and valves weekly and adding more valves so i can shut off a single pot and pull it out if i have to flush it all out. Had to do that twice this round.

I like perlite and coco mixed for the autopots. growcubes suck in it and i dont want to use soil because i got wicked gnats from a couple of bags of soil so coco works for me.

I am going to order a couple of extra pots and disks, 4 extra shutoffs and a few spigots (3 into 1 and 2 into 1) and about 30 feet of tubing so i can run 2 different reservoirs. Next week i change the grow space to move 2 reservoirs out of the tent and on solid pedestals for the gravity feed. Shit i am excited again even after 2 less than stellar rounds but i know it was that bud ripener (and the grow cubes sucked too).

When done properly they rock. And I am doing that on my starting Aug 1 round (Outdoor is next and it is ok when i go on vacation for 2 weeks).

Last night I cleaned everything up again. All floats cleaned and the reservoir and hardware (tubes and fittings). Then I made a new batch of just calmag and trio set it to 6.2 PH and 750 TDS and it is running now. At least it will work better. The funk is gone :D No more flotsam in the reservoir.

I think it will be fine now. And wow that Jack smells like Jack and the train wreck....it smells like jack too. :) Sort of. I think it is one of the worst smelling strains ever but wow i like how it works.
